Good fodder for Statham heads! (by Ash_Heydrich) |
If you are a Statham fan you would love all his dialogs and his moves but definitely this was not his best work. With the wake of the recent London riots with hoodlums ransacking it was good to see a tough guy iron fist cockney cop bringing all the goodness back to the world. Go Jason Statham, this movie did not have a brilliant screenplay to say the least but whatever it was nobody could have done it better than Jason Statham. This role was crafted for him. Also, if you got Sally Donovan from BBC Series Sherlock as Agent Falls just for her accent here then a thumbs up to you. That was <more> |
Statham at his best (by timothyosullivan74) |
I love the unfazed attitude of Statham in this film.A tough cop who uses unconventional methods to bring perpetrators to justice. He also laughs in the face of his persecutors when he's busted for using excessive force to bring down felons.Great themes throughout; touching on the loss of loved ones, homosexuality in the police force, police brutality and co killers. |
Another impressive Jason Statham actioner. (by Prashast_Singh) |
I was pretty surprised with how the film quickly jumped to the scenes without wasting a second.Blitz is an impressively written, well directed, well acted action thriller that has all that you expect in a Jason Statham film. Action, tension and clever dialogues: it has them all.The story hardly has any major twists/turns and is indeed a pretty straightforward but captivating action film. Performances are impressive, dialogues are stunning, and the action is terrific. The editing too is impressive as the film doesn't drag and instead stays focused.Blitz is an impressive action film that can <more> |
I Loved This Movie!! (by go_titans) |
Blitz is not getting much respect from reviewers on IMDb, and I'm very surprised by this. I loved it from the first minute to the last and ordered the Blu-Ray on line before the credits had even finished.Statham plays an aggressive cop with an attitude, and if he's got a weapon in his hands like a hockey stick he'll wield it like a pro.Paddy Considine plays a gay cop who's capable of taking the law into his own hands, and this allows him to work with Statham just beautifully.Aidan Gillen plays a fabulous psycho with a thing for killing cops, and he's been one of my <more> |
Surprisingly good, true to the book (by eydryan) |
I remember reading the book in highschool http://www.amazon.com/Blitz- Ken-Bruen/dp/0312327269/ref sr_1_1?ie UTF8&qid 1312071329&sr 8-1 and I enjoyed it immensely. Although Brant was a completely different character in the book I like that they kept his traditional and old school manner. The spirit of the book is also kept in this, which is very surprising and pleasant in any movie that features Jason Statham. It's refreshing that it's not the kind of movie where he just punches everyone to death for two hours, it's deeper than that. I suggest you go see it, it's <more> |
Blitz-When Ultimate Revenge is Sweet, Not Bitter ***1/2 (by edwagreen) |
It is very difficult at times to understand lead actor Jason Stratham is his role as a very tough British police officer. This is a very common occurrence in British films. The subjects speak as if they have hot potatoes in their mouths. This being said, the movie is a good thriller where a Barry Weiss takes revenge for the beating he received from our tough hero and goes on a killing spree of British police officers, shooting them in the worst possible way.It appears that the cops are unable to protect their own, especially when a police chief, returning to work following the death of his <more> |
Immoral, gritty, strangely compelling (by acutler) |
One of Statham's best. Jason, as usual, plays himself, although this time in perhaps his most realistic settings. No wires, no kung-fu, no sixth sense. Just an unhealthy, alcoholic, total b**stard of a cop. This film starts out at best amoral, and I can only conclude by the end that it is positively immoral, with many things that are very objectionable. The few characters with hope or any redeeming qualities all get dragged down into the mire, and London has rarely looked so frightening and depressing and worryingly real. And yet the film is compelling viewing. It won't do well because <more> |
Bringing it back for Britain (by scotts_other) |
This film is the next action film in the line of Jason Statham's successful career. It is a no nonsense British cop action film with enough story line and plenty of in your face action to keep you interested and wondering what is next around the corner. Jason Statham has already reached world class status and now he is bringing it back for Britain. He is good at what he does and he does it in this film well - although I liked much of what he had done before, I didn't really care that he was in any particular film. My opinion has now changed as he reliably delivers action and character <more> |
Very good action film, and look! no CGI was used or needed (by AlxP-64) |
"Blitz" is a very good old-school crime film, built around the hunt for a cop-killer. The film could serve as teaching material of how to keep up the pace and the suspense for one and a half hours without using explosions, supermen or computer-generated imaging. Many of the scenes take place in the closed world of the policemen and policewomen who are the targets of the criminal and his hunters. Add a nice twist of the tough-cop-meets-new-partner trope, throw in a pinch of comedic one-liners, and top it off with a very beautiful Zawe Ashton as WPC Elizabeth Falls. Jason Statham is <more> |
