no new ground, it will not win any awards, it will not resolve the world's pain... it is a fun, entertaining romantic ensemble comedy that will divert and amuse if you only allow it to do so... a 4.8 rating for this film is pretentious and hyper-critical...period.

performance 180 degrees from her role in Misery.Again I could rely on the dependability of the local critics. They gave this a C- which was a sure sign that it had no redeeming qualities other than being a formula run of the mill escapist romantic comedy but very entertaining by my standards . By definition, they and the Academy can only rate a move highly if it has a "message" that is usually negative and often depraved.If you were pleased with the Academy 2005 best movie selections, avoid this movie. On the other hand if you want to forget all the problems of the world and just have some good laughs and walk out feeling good, this should be your cup of tea.

this good movie. All around, I would suggest this movie highly, you won't be disappointed!

what it is supposed to be, a fun romp. Enjoy this movie and don't take it seriously like the guy from Canada.

romantic comedy that wasn't a chick flick as well, the story was told mainly from McConaughey's point of view. Kudos to everyone who had a part in the making of this movie!

Kathy Bates- so it's a plus that she's in it. Terry Bradshaw is naked at one point.....so rate that as you will. But all in all- a good time was had. Go see it.

bachelor support group. Enters Sarah, who is in the business of motivating the typical grown-up male child to belatedly leave their parents' house, a fairly familiar modern phenomenon. So, Sarah is hired by Kathy and Terry to get Matthew out of the house. And, Sarah succeeds, but not in the way she plans, which causes some temporary hurt feelings and misunderstandings. Then, while Matthew angrily retreats to his sailboat, Terry decides to convert his son's old room into a "naked room," which surely will be the end of Terry's naked appearances in a major motion picture. Terry was statuesque in his quarterback days, but that was a generation ago. Then, the viewer finds that Matthew and Sarah are, unexpectedly, really falling in love with each other, with a little help from their friends and family. Other cute comic elements involve the biting of Matthew by little animals, including a chipmunk, a dolphin, and a lizard. And, then a mockingbird is the occasion for another farcical sequence, which includes surely the only human to bird artificial resuscitation in film history. This film does not have the comic genius or timing of films like American Pie or even an average Carol Burnette television sketch. But, it has its own easy charm with plenty of eye candy, beautiful cinematography and a good sporting effort by this group of participants, who nevertheless seem more suited to weighty dramas such as Titanic or A Time To Kill, in my opinion.

actress nod for her portrayal of Kit. She simply stole the show. From the moment she is introduced she is off and running about being annoyed by a mocking bird that keeps her up at night. This culminates in 2 excellent scenes: the first in a sporting goods store where the diminutive Kit decides to try and buy a 12-guage shotgun and one shell to dispose of the bird. Saying any more would give this scene away and I don't want to spoil it for those who have not seen the movie. The second is where Kit and McConaughey's other pal who, by the way, have begun a romance of their own shoot the bird with a bb gun and then try to revive it. All in all, this was definitely worth going to see.
