Johnny English is back! The film kicks off swiftly indeed, with English being retrained for service. If there is one impressive thing, the pacing is spot on. Whilst the first film lent more towards witty dialog, Reborn relies more on visual gags. Standout sequences include English on a gadget powered wheelchair racing down the streets of London, along with the majority of action scenes. The chair gag in Mi7 is also most welcome. The music composer must be commended for a rousing score, frequently referencing the Johnny English Theme, particularly during the splendid opening titles sequence. <more>
The cast is solid, particularly Rosamund Pike. Whilst Ben Miller does not appear unfortunately, Daniel Kaluuya does an average job of replacing the sidekick role as Agent Tucker. The other performances are pretty spot on.Overall Oliver Parker and Rowan Atkinson have made a fun, entertaining film, barely missing the heights of the first adventure. Stay for the after credits scene!
This movie is damn funny. I didn't watch the first show, but I can assure you, when I went to watch it yesterday at 21.15, all shows from 20.45, 21.00, 21.15, 21.30, 21.45 were full. Also, during the parts where Mr Bean just talked something funny, the whole theatre was laughing. I almost threw my popcorn up into the air during the chair shrinking part, and my dad choked on his drink. The whole movie is funny and not in a lowbrow way like most movies you see nowadays with disgusting sex or poop jokes. It has the British humour. And the opening scenes imitate the parkour one in James Bond <more>
but it is much more realistic. I think, if you don't set your expectations too high, you will find it above your expectations.
Britain's Next Favourite Spy Is Back (by Chrysanthepop)
Britain's beloved spy is back in Oliver Parker's new spy adventure 'Johnny English Reborn'. Needless to say, the film spoofs the spy action thriller genre the first titles that pop in mind are those James Bond flicks and does an excellent job in doing so. And of course, Atkinson is playing the lead so one can expect at least some laugh out loud moments and there are many of them . The script is funny and the amusing action sequences are remarkably shot. The title role was obviously written for Rowan Atkinson and he performs all guns blazing, tickling you to the bone. Very <more>
few can pull off slapstick as well as he does. He is accompanied by two smoking hot beauties, Gillian Anderson who does a very impressive fake British accent as she stresses and stretches each word and Rosamund Pike as a professional behavioural therapist who inadvertently happens to know hypnotherapy . Dominic West does a good evil villain. With a solid balance of story, dialogue, action and humour, 'Johnny English Reborn' is a terrific sequel. One doesn't have to have watched the first film to fully enjoy this one. I was enjoying it so much that I found myself wanting more when it finished.
The incomparable Rowan Atkinson returns as Johnny English, in the long-awaited sequel I was waiting, anyway , and he's in robustly fine form. This movie is hilarious; I haven't laughed so much in a movie theatre - for the right reasons - in a lonnnng time. Some of the bits are based on English's savvy factor yes, he has one! , like the clever long sequence where the not-so-spry spy uses ingenuity to keep up with the person he's chasing, and some of them are based on his obtuseness, like the way he drinks the drink he shouldn't be drinking and the way he doesn't get <more>
that the person who's the mole is actually the mole. It's a tribute to his genius that Atkinson makes these scenes hilarious, when in any other hands they would fall flat. There's a running bit with an assassin cleaning woman from hell which for all intensive purposes should not be funny, but in Atkinson's hands every scene involving her or whom he believes to be her is also hilarious. And even when you see stuff coming from a mile away, it still winds up being laugh-aloud funny when orchestrated by the comic gold mine that is Atkinson. Cannot wait for the DVD.
This film I considered a source of laughter in a time when funny things are not funny anymore. It is really difficult to find a genuine comedy that will blow your mind but this seems to do it and gave me a kind f relief that such things still exist, the remnants of mindless laughter. The story does not really need comment because the movie does not need one so your mind goes to complete rest phase. Even so, following situation after another you move through hilarious laughter that you would go home happy with your day, mind rested and ready for another weeks work.I hope you enjoy as I did <more>
without need to philosophize it or think about criticism, it does what its meant to do.
A big waste of time and money. (by viktor-olumcev)
Johnny English the first movie, was a really great movie. It wash fun,Funny, exciting and really interesting. But,Johnny English Reborn was a total let down.It was really the old school, and it wasn't funny at all.Rowan Atkinson is a great actor and he can really make people laugh. But in this movie he did the opposite.First of all there were a lot of unnecessary scenes. The story wash a little bit of weird. And the end was a total disaster.Rowan is really the old school. He is old and it's not what it just to bee.The movie was fine but they repeated the same funny parts all over again and <more>
again, and then it isn't funny anymore. It's boring.I really love Rowan, hes a great actor but he really isn't funny anymore. This movie wash a total let down after seeing the previous one!
Johnny English Reborn is a brilliantly funny movie,it kept me laughing out loud the whole way through which Rowan Atkinson always seems to do especially as Mr Bean of course ,the storyline and everything else was altogether brilliant.Johnny English Rowan Atkinson must return to M1-7 after being gone for years working on his skills in Asia, and now a group of international assassins are trying to eliminate a world leader and cause global chaos and now its up to Johnny English and his partner Agent Tucker to stop them, but they don't seem to have the brains for the job.
Good Johnny English (by DavidNog)
Johnny English Reborn This Monday I had the opportunity to see Johnny English premiere, the long awaited sequel of Johnny English, which was quite successful.Remaining faithful to the original premise, Johnny English plays MI7 agent, which tends to be clumsy. However, there is a psychological evolution of the character, resulting from his period of spiritual development in Tibet. Older, he has less agility, but in the words of the spiritual leader, he "won wisdom." Thus, making use of it, tries to expose the operation of attempted murder of the Chinese prime minister. Rowan Atkinson <more>
returns to play this character, showing more charm than in the previous film, drinking inspiration from the first appearances of James Bond. In fact, in my view, this is a film much closer to the line of 007 than the previous one, for several reasons. One is a psychologist from MI7, who befriends Johnny English, Rosamund Pike, Bond Girl in Die Another Day 2002 , in which that film, she moves to the villain side. Like many James Bond's fans thought at the time, Rosamund Pike gave a much better Bond Girl than Halle Berry. In this film, justice is restored, and is given her a role that she plays quite well.On the other hand, goes through various scenarios, and one of the scenarios with more climax, we have the Swiss Alps, bringing back memories for fans of the Bond saga, created by the geographical similarities with On Her Majesty's Secret Service 1969 . With regard to mood, is a well disposed film that managed to wheedle several laughs to the public, even in scenes that tend to be more predictable. Although it contains some scenes that lack scientific rigor, and that obviously could never happen in real life, they must be interpreted as part of an action film and comedy, and are therefore admissible. In short, it's a good movie, great for a session to be with family, and I can only recommend to fans of the original.Note 8 / 10
More great fun with our favourite bungling spy! Johnny English is back and just as great as ever! (by jamiemarks-1)
Finally after a much long await of eight years, the nations favourite hopeless spy Johnny English gets his much deserved sequel, though not quite as excellent as the first this sequel is still very enjoyable. Johnny English Reborn is set five years after his adventure in the first. Hiding out shamelessly in a cave in Tibet Johnny is called back into service by Her Majesty once again to foil international assassins in their plot to terminate the Chinese premier. Rowan Atkinson proves once again why he is one our best comedy actors. He plays English down to a T and if one ever had any doubts if <more>
he would be able to step back into the role after eight years, seeing this should wipe those doubts out of your mind. He gives a hilarious performance all the way through aided by sketches of slapstick though predictable are wondrous in their genius of timing. They are so well timed just like in the first film, it makes it all the more hilarious thanks to a sharp and witty script. There are numerous funny sequences throughout, which had me chuckling and shouting with laughter with too many to pick from. But my favourites would have to be when English mistakens his bosses mother as a Korean assassin and undoubtedly the best one, which had me crying with laughter and has already been identified with other audience reviewers on here is the scene where English is in a briefing sitting on a chair, which he tries to adjust, breaks and ends up the chair rising up and down. Great performances are also supplied by Rosamund Pike as a psychologist, Daniel Kaluuya as Agent Tucker who though good isn't in the same league as Bough Ben Miller and Dominic West as Ambrose. Johnny English Reborn is a hilarious spectacle from start to finish, that those who liked the first film or who are a fan of Rowan Atkinson should see. The nations favourite bungling spy is back!
