Girls blood-sport type film with nice story (by bunja1979)
This was a very good film with girls fighting girls for once not boys i loved the story it was kind of like a female blood-sport for me and although Amy Johnston isn't the world best actress she's decent and beautiful to boot, good film i will be looking out for more from her I was expecting a rubbish movie here but really enjoyed this one it was not over the top at all, We really need more films like this and not crap like the kick boxer reboot what was the point of that movie it was awful and there doing another!! do yourself a favour watch this instead , it has a far better story <more>
with better actors cant wait to see more from Amy Johnston really, Although it doesn't have a massive budget it doesn't look cheap at all not by a long shot and the fight scenes are more old school but i like that overall this film was right up my street 10/10
Bloodport with women... and it's not bad (by girlfightmovie)
Early on the film cast Asian stars like Maggie Q and called itself Lady Bloodsport. That would have been a great movie but it didn't come as planned. However, Lady Bloodfight, where Bloodfight like Bloodsport pretty much used the same villain, isn't a bad movie. It's different in many ways from either Bloodsport or Bloodfight as it contains some form of magic and is setup differently. The Minute fights are pretty formulaic in comparison to Bloodsport but twists come that makes it different. The fighting is more modernized yet the fight choreography could use work. Amy Johnston's <more>
stunts are superb as always and many of the girls, including her, fight scantily clad. The fights are brutal and despite being much more low budget than Bloodsport the production values are good.At the time of this writing, Lady Bloodfight, released only to Sweden is sold out but an American release is forthcoming.Except for fans of the GIRLFIGHT genre, I don't see this appealing to the American martial arts audience, which is sadly misogynist against female fighting. 9/10.For a more brutal yet clothed Amy Johnston's see Female Fight Club.
If you are complaining about the acting, story or writing of a movie called Lady Blood fight you should not be watching a movie called LADY BLOOD FIGHT. This is not Amistad and doesn't claim to be. It's Lady Blood Fight and it delivers what it advertises: Ladies, Blood, and Fighting and it does it well.
An Excellent & Empowering Film (by qqknowlton-85783)
I wasn't planning on writing anything about this great film, but my eye caught the highest ranked review that is surprisingly negative and unhelpful.I honestly feel that Lady Bloodfight is one of the best martial arts movies that I have seen in many years, but for different reasons.I lived in Asia for seven years working, traveling and studying. I feel that the director did a good job at highlighting the beauty of Hong Kong.I spent years learning various kung fu forms and weapons in subfreezing weather in Northern China near Siberia and North Korea.I studied with Shaolin monks and spent a <more>
lot of time learning Chinese philosophy and Buddhism. There is nothing like learning how to use a Shaolin rope dart in -20 degree weather at 6 am surrounded by strangers exercising in a giant park.My training was quite casual compared to the realistic and painful training depicted in the film. This film does an excellent job at illustrating the genuine focus of martial arts as self-control, inner stability and personal development. The fight sequences are raw, well-choreographed and absolutely amazing. I even learned a few new moves for my weapons training. The actresses are tough, beautiful and independent, which will be offensive to critical and narrow-minded people. This is the first well-made martial arts film that I have seen that truly demonstrates female strength and empowerment. There are a few confusing plot twists, but I agree with the LA Times that movie goers should simply skip the plot and focus on the exciting action.
Underrated. Nice action, good camerawork & locations... Cliché story... but aren't those the stories we want to see? (by ineptio-80877)
Like the title says,Nice actionscenes & beautiful scenery. It's a fightingmovie about the Kumité, so what did you expect? A psychological drama that wins 2 Oscars? No, just a feel-good-movie with a lot of clichés, but is that bad?I liked the feel of the images, good guys & bad duys but the filming-style looks good, this could have been a better film.We need more female fighting heroes.
