An Excellent Thriller. (by HealthyLove) |
The Hunter's Prayer is a British-American action thriller film directed by Jonathan Mostow, based on Kevin Wignall's novel "For the Dogs." "The Hunter's Prayer" follows Lucas Worthington , a solitary assassin, hired to kill a young woman, Ella, Rush , who is unaware that her family's questionable business dealings have cost them their lives. However, when Lucas can't bring himself to pull the trigger, the two form a bond and escape across Europe together, hunted by those responsible for her family's murder.Rated R for violence, drug use and <more> |
Believable Fight Scenes? (by paulwhitequinn) |
The Hunter's Prayer had me interested when I looked at the cast listing, mainly because Sam Worthington I only a few days before watched in "Shack" and I was keen to see how Odeya Rush was developing as a actor.Though the story threw up very little in the way of surprises. It was good to see a solid script, generally good acting and the fight scenes weren't drawn out to pad out the time.Surprisingly little bad language, but slightly marred by graphic drug taking scenes. |
Thrilling action with genuine emotion (by robertemerald) |
Brilliantly paced acted and directed, this is a thriller worth your armchair. It would make a perfect junior bill for a double feature with a Bond movie. Sam Worthington is brilliantly cast. His deep-thinking, darkly moody and damaged character brilliantly plays the man whom finds the right words so hard to say. There is much more action than dialogue. The supporting cast are largely unknown to me, yet all deliver riveting character roles. It all fits together like an intelligent jigsaw puzzle. The plot has some wonderful new touches, such as the baddie's child son, the strange on-call <more> |
Lots of good action and decent story. Worth watching (by jonrivera420) |
I liked the movie. It was realistic action and the story was entertaining enough to not get bored during the movie. Even though it wasn't released in theaters it was done high quality compared to other Hollywood blockbusters. It was kind of reminded me of a mix between taken and the transporter. Don't know why others hated on it. It was a good movie. Better than a lot of the other action movies I've seen that are super cheesy. It was better than I expected |
Road Movie With a Twist (by lavatch) |
In the bonus segment of the DVD of "The Hunter's Prayer," director Jonathan Mostow described his intention to transform the generic action and "road film" with a major reversal in the character relationships. Due to the good character developments, the filmmakers were successful in their mission.A hired killer named Lucas Sam Worthington is tasked with the job of killing the daughter of an attorney, who has recently been assassinated at the behest of the nefarious financier named Addison. The daughter, Ella Odeya Rush , who stands to inherit a fortune, is captured <more> |
pretty good action film (by eddie-32826) |
On action films, there is a typical script: There is a good guy and a bad guy, and someone stuck in the middle. The bad guy targets the middle, and the good guy saves the middle and kills the bad guy.But in this one, the good guy isn't completly good. Well, not fully. The action scenes are well done, though at some points near the beginning, I couldn't see anything as it was pitch black. But hey, it can happen in normal life. Add to the fact that some parts are filmed in Yorkshire, UK. And yes, some are actually in Yorkshire. One part nightclub etc was definatly in Harrogate, <more> |
