It's so much better then the first one! I had a really nice time to watch it with my wife, so funny. WELL DONE! Thank you! I'm sure that the most of the kids will love it. The animation looks great, and it's full of high quality visual effects. I would recommend it to everyone who likes Pixar or DreamWorks movies.
As good or better than the original (by rannynm)
The Nut Job 2 is wonderful! With some movies, the sequel is never as good as the original, but with this movie, they are both awesome films. There is never a boring part or unnecessary scene. It keeps you wanting more and gets you really attached about the characters' lives. The background music really helps keep the story going and makes the chase scenes more suspenseful since there are no silent moments. In the film, an accident happens and all the animals who are eating at the nut shop are forced to move back to the park. Unfortunately, Mayor Muldoon Bobby Moynihan has some nefarious <more>
plans to destroy the park. So, Surly Will Arnett and his friends have to find a way to work together to save the park. One of the things I care for in both of The Nut Job films is the animation. I love how you can see every single hair on all the animals and how each one is different. Another thing that I love about this film is the music. That, you can thank Heitor Pereira for. The music goes with the lines and scenes so well, that it truly enhances the story. My favorite character is Buddy because, even though he never talks, he is always there for Surly and it's funny to see Buddy's expressions that make it seem as if he's talking. I also really like the backstory showing Surly and Buddy's friendship. Another thing I really like is Mr. Feng's Jackie Chan tail because it makes him more intimidating, which adds to his character. My favorite scene is when Andie Katherine Heigl starts singing about how the park is their home and they make a joke about how "no one can break into a spontaneous song." Go watch it and you'll see!The two messages in this film are to work together, which this movie is all about, and that nothing comes easy. This message comes into place when the animals have to move back to the park and scrounge for food. I rate this film 5 out of 5 stars because of the extraordinary animation, plot and music. I recommend this film for ages 5 to 14 and parents and older siblings will enjoy it too. Reviewed by Dariana A., KIDS FIRST! Film Critic. For more reviews by youth, visit kidsfirst dot org.
I'll be damned, this is a total jawdropper. It's like a love child of Madagascar 3 and Zootopia. And, boy, does it make its parents eat their shorts. The Nut Job 2 has everything in fine proportions: quality animation, breathtaking action, various kinds of humor with tons of quipping, total adequacy and self-awareness, cynicism and, of course, the moral center. This is what modern animations sorely lack. They are either way too pretentious or are just in your face. And that's even including some original pictures, like Shrek or Madagascar. The Nut Job 2 doesn't have these <more>
weaknesses, while it properly inherits the action and the ability to make a valid point. The closest animation I can compare to - is the first animation I've given 10\10 rating, How to Train Your Dragon the original . It also had the animation, the moral and proper pacing. Now, of course, I can't exactly compare these two. HTTYD had some of the best scores in animation history, and there are plenty of classics that also deserve 10\10. I'm usually nitpicky, but for this movie I just want to make an exception. It could be 8\10, it should be 9\10, but, for the sake of the quality of IMDb content and the modern critic reviews in general, I'd dare say this is a 10\10 material. With all the B-rated animation we've been getting recently, from the biggest studios, no less, this picture stands as a shining example of a sequel that manages to do better than the original. And this is something worth looking out for.I know this is supposed to be spoiler-free, but I can't believe this is the one animation that actually dared to take a hit at Disney's atrocious singing well, at least in the modern animations . And this movie actually had Jackie Chan acting for once, after THREE Kung-Fu Panda flops! While the rest of the American industry tries to pander to the Chinese in every way possible, The Nut Job 2 actually does it in a hilarious and quite respectful manner. I'd say that this part was borrowed from The Life of Pets, but... The execution was just heaven and earth. You don't see gangsta bunnies turning to toilet humor here.I hope that this "indie marvel" will get a third part. That's really going to be hard to top this one off, but if they get a proper score, something close to HTTYD, while retaining the same approach of direction - it will be the movie for the books.
So I did watch the original when it came out but can't really remember the old film so I was going into this film fresh, now this film was a good watch and really made me & others laugh at points throughout the film. The film does have quite a high pace, which is not a bad thing, the animation was really crisp and the detail on the animals was really well done tbh, not that the kids would notice. As always with animation the human characters where excellently designed including the main villain, the Mayor! The story is about the Mayor wanting to demolish the park and put an amusement <more>
land there, but the animals have to fight back by causing chaos with the diggers etc, which is all good fun to watch! Overall I enjoyed the film and I love animation films, defo worth a watch if you want to laugh!8 / 10 – Age: 23 – Location Saw: Bedford Cineworld – Saw Using "Unlimited Card"
The life of ease, with all the animals getting "lazy, spoiled, and fat" comes to an end. The mayor has decided the park should be an amusement park, depriving our critters from their home. Our anarchist animals fight back. There are lessons about working together, friendship, and not spontaneously singing.Jackie Chan voices a martial arts mouse whose hands are "weapons of mouse destruction" Yes, it was that type of humor. Fun for adults too. Chan had a line that made me think of the Niemöller quote.
