Suck my Dixie! This movie was awesome! (by refuseliamxfilms)
I have just returned from the English premiere of '2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams'. Never have I had such a fun time inside a cinema. This movie has everything, blood, breasts and beasts! The movie represents everything that is missing from mainstream cinema, and that is 'soul'. There was so much heart put into this movie ... a long with other body parts, which are proudly splattered on screen.Bill Moseley stars here as Mayor Buckman, taking over from Robert Englund. Bill Moseley does an excellent job in the role and really makes it his own. Ogre also puts on an outstanding <more>
performance playing Harper Alexander and it was great to see Lin Shaye return as Granny Boone.I really hope Tim Sullivan continues with more adventures of the maniacs, Independent cinema is still alive!
If Mr Tim Sullivan's 2001 Maniacs rated high in your gore-ometer, this will blow your mind! This film has everything a horror fan will need: Blood, breats, gore, breasts, Lin Sayne and Bill Moseley! The film continues the story of the "Maniacs" on their road trip of guts and glory! I don't want to ruin anything about the film but it delivers heavily on nasty set pieces laced with black humour. It's not for the squeamish or easily offended but if you like Hershall Gordon Lewis, Lucio Lulci and other grandfathers of gore this is the flick for you! I hope other horror <more>
directors can take a page from Tim Sullivan's book and make them like this! This is what we need... not Avatar!!!!!!!!
Great film for all you gore-hounds (by Noddinggoth)
Awesome film, the screening at Sheffield Showroom went down really well. It was really nice to meet Tim Sullivan too - it's great to meet someone who cares about the films they make rather than just churning out all the usual Hollywood dross. Brilliant guy! And I shall definitely be expecting him to bring Jezebel with him if he comes over to see us again. It was a shame that Robert Englund wasn't involved, but Bill Moseley more than made up for it, as did the rest of the cast. Lin Shaye in was a highlight, she is clearly mental in a good way both on and off camera. I was particularly <more>
glad to see Ogre sans mask - that guy's hot!So, to summarise, not for the faint hearted or easily offended, but loads of fun not for all the family! .
If you liked the first..... (by EverybodyElsesGirl)
I found this film to take the best characters and the basic idea from the first film and then just dial it way up! Campell, who received precious little screen time in the previous film lets her hair down literally and is taken off the leash to indulge in more of her own fun-she is even given a very unique "posse." Bill Mosely steps into Buckman's shoes and makes them bigger-plays it more intense and nearly fanatical. Harper's recasting of Ogre was a brilliant choice on the part of Sullivan. I found the previous Harper to be too much of a smarmy pretty boy-Ogre gets the <more>
job done with a darker form of sex appeal and a LOT more panache. There is still plenty of T, A, man candy and gore, but I found this film in spite of that-to actual hold some social relevance, reflecting current events, stereotypes, etc spot on through the slightly distorted fun-house mirror of Sullivan's eyes.
I saw "Field of Screams" this week-end at a private screening in New Jersey! It is awesome: one fast roller-coaster ride of thrills, chills, and blood-spills! Love the mix of gore and over-the-top comedy. Director Tim Sullivan is a true genius at this type of horror comedy. So witty! So many unforgettable scenes and lines! The cast was well-chosen! Bill Mosely did a marvelous job as the demented Mayor Buckman and Lin Shay was equally as insane as Granny! Hucklebilly Ryan Fleming is hilarious! Loved Dew Cube too! Can't wait to buy the DVD and the blu-ray! I want that sound <more>
track tooooo! Where can I buy my own Biscuit? I'm ordering the movie poster on line today!
Tim Sullivan has one of the most sickest senses of humor of anyone I know. I met Tim when he was a teenager and acting as a guardian to enable to him to see numerous horror "grindhouse" films on 42nd Street, I must share a little of the responsibility for the man who grew up to make films that gore fans love to see.Tim has made a film that will offend ninety percent of the people on earth. The other ten percent should see 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams! .... Heck! ...Even if you are easily offended, you should see the film and you will laugh at the jokes that don't anger <more>
you.Having just seen a DVD of the film with Tim and his family and about twenty of his friends, I feel this film should be seen with an audience of people who enjoy seeing splatter films. See it with as many friends as you can. This film would be perfect for midnight showings and could easily reach a cult status. When you buy the video, invite friends over and have a "Maniacs" party! For the people who are disappointed that several of the original cast had been replaced or left out....don't be. Not once during the film did I think that "this would be better if Robert Englund was playing Mayor Buckman". Bill Moseley played the character so well, that in one scene, I could see no one else other than Mr. Moseley doing the part. Tim's muse, Lin Shaye takes her character to another level and is excellent as always.I've seen many splatter films, and there are not many deaths on film that can shock me. When Nivek Ogre prepares to eliminate one of the victims, I thought, "No! ....Tim is NOT going to show this!!! "....but he did. I felt a little guilty of laughing at the violence I saw, but if you enjoy the cartoon violence of an Itchy & Scratchy short, you will enjoy this.Tim used $400,000 and made a better film than most filmmakers could, if they had a budget of 4 million. Imagine the film that Tim could make if he had a budget of 40 million! Someday, I know that Tim will make that film.Watching 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams is like being on a roller coaster to hell.... and loving it!
The maniacs return in a deliciously silly and gory sequel (by rab_57)
I saw this at Glasgow Frightfest and although it wasn't completely ready the lip sync was a little off , I thoroughly enjoyed it.It was obviously completely tongue in cheek with as much corn as possible and I mean that in more ways than one, shame on you granny boone .I didn't enjoy it as much as the first one which laid down the background and paved the way for the sequels hopefully. Tim Sullivan came to the screening and was a really nice man though clearly deranged,he took time to talk to me and my son and even posed for a photo ,which unfortunately didn't turn out.I hope he <more>
continues with the maniacs ,let's face it there is another 1,984 Yankees still to pay the price.
