Twisted ending that will leave you saying WTF! (by renan-terrero-740-152404)
I love shark movies, lately all the shark movies coming out have been lacking intensity, entertainment & a realistic feeling. And then there is IN THE DEEP, I saw The Shallows and I liked it don't get me wrong. In the deep made me more than like it, it left me dazed. Don't worry I won't spoil the movie for those that haven't seen it. All I can say is this movie is defiantly worth a watch. Kudos to the director for making the scenes so intense and edge of your seat. Also the tones of the movie were perfectly set and gave you chills. The ending was crazy!Two sisters on <more>

Up there with Jaws, possibly better?! (by gazmufc2012)
What an incredible thriller, I was on the edge of my seat from the moment their cage got lowered in to the water. Now I know people will think, well it's just a shark film.. it's a lot more than that, I promise you. The setting, the score, the two main characters were amazing. For the length of time the movie was on, you'd have thought they'd struggle to fill it with just two main characters in a shark cage but boy they made it work. The ending had a twist that left me gobsmacked wondering what the heck I'd just seen. Absolute must for any fan of thrillers, 10/10! Will <more>
definitely be watching again.I'm a huge fan of the Jaws movies, but I think this has surpassed those, I guess it was only a matter of time.
In the deep has the most realistic looking shark out of any shark film I've watched. The tension builds up nicely throughout and every time the shark shows up is a treat.It first I didn't know what to expect from this movie, as it has become so hard to take shark movies seriously, however this movie surprised me, it is the best shark movie since Jaws and honestly the best creature feature in ages! Bottom line: The shark is awesome, hopefully this movie being successful at the box office will give way to more heavily plot based shark films; where the shark looks just as real as the one <more>
seen here. 10/10 for being the only entertaining shark film since Deep Blue Sea.
I came across this film by accident, my partner and I have watched every shark documentary and film we can find. This film was an unexpected treat. In the Deep, is full of suspense and the sharks actually look and behave realistically! Based on our understanding, great whites can be curious, would be very attracted to blood, but otherwise aren't too interested in humans. Spoilers. And the sharks in this film fit that characteristic very well. We don't think this is a particular shark stalking the two sisters trying not to mention a curtain other not so realistic film , but the girls <more>
movement, sound and blood is encouraging sharks' curiosity and aggressiveness. This would already make a good shark movie to us, but other positives include the cinematography, everything from the camera-work to the lighting, creates a claustrophobic atmosphere that pulls you into the film. The imagery seems realistic which adds to the effect. The suspense is really what binds this film. The lighting and the camera angles really make you feel the vulnerability of the sisters, and you find yourself asking, "Where is the shark?" I've given the movie an extra point for the sharks, but I would take two points away for the slightly pitifully back story of the sisters, and the way they find themselves in the situation. However, power through the first ten minutes and you will not be disappointed. I will be recommending this films to others.
In the deep is the biggest surprise of the year, with gripping tension. In every aspect the film is brilliant, good acting, good script and action. It's really different and plenty of innovation. The final was the best moment, the time i spent wasn't for nothing. I'm surprised and will not forget this movie for a long time.I think the film is underrated, i can just suggest you to try watching the movie.My wife was scared two times and she did nightmares. 9/10 for being the only entertaining shark film since Deep Blue Sea.
Really an outstanding Shark Movie from a successful director (by altimitcc)
Alexandre Aja , made several great movie remakes, most of them are references nowadays, on original script however , his movies were not as good, but this one , if u really love Shark movie, even if i enjoyed the shallows for the scenery and lively Blake of course, this movie is twice better , after a short intro , we are straight in the deep sea , and things starting to go wrong very quickly , and the plot is awesome, with an excellent twist at the end . really creepy and the sharks felt so real ...
Solid, entertaining movie keeps you entertained until the very end, and IGNORE the dive experts please (by mitchel1986)
OK, so this movie was quite nice! I saw it at a sneak preview, had no expectations and was surprised in a positive way. Its no Oscar-winner, the constant moaning of the girls kinda irritated me a few times but overall...scary, but not in an 'average shark movie' way, some nice twist and just fun!So why this kinda dull review? Well, I read a lot of reviews on IMDb, never feel the urge to write one. But there is something with IMDb reviews which bothers the hell out of me. Allow me:There is this guy here he must be so much fun at parties , who wrote a review presenting 14 reasons or <more>
so, why the diving in this movie was impossible/not logical/not realistic or whatever. Therefore, the movie received one star. This bothers me. Why? Allow me again:So, I do not dive, but I teach at University. Not really movie material, but let's say a movie is made about the life of a University teacher why would you do that you ask? good question . Let's say in this movie, ALL details about the very complex and technical nature of ' University teacher' are impossible/not logical/not realistic. But, the movie is fun and entertaining. Why, oh why in Gods name, would I feel the urge to write a review to correct all these 'mistakes' related to something I happen to be an expert in?In other words, why do so many reviewers here feel this urge to correct the impossible/not logical/not realistic with regard to something they happen to know a lot of? Just enjoy the movie or not, if its s*cky , but over-analyzing it from your 'expert view'? To be honest, most of us don't really care about that and just want to enjoy the movie...
When you consider the amount of crap shark films that keep popping up it's pretty wise to be cautious about watching any........this one however is more than worth a watch........and considering ide never even heard of it until I stumbled on it filled me with dread as I pressed the 'play' button. Thankfully I was pleasantly surprised.....for me it knocked socks off that tripe The Shallows........there is plenty of shark action and it really keeps you on the edge of your seat with the sheer terror and suspension involved. I never go into story telling in my reviews as that's <more>
what trailers are for etc, but far as im concerned it's a solid and believable tale that in all fairness could have been done way before now with a bigger budget and better actors. If you can grit your teeth for the first 15 mins and ignore the ott and annoying acting of one of the girls then you should enjoy this film........don't want to spill anymore........enjoy......and I really don't care if you find this review useful.......just saying my piece ;
Im currently watching this movie again. Yes, that's how much this movie rocks for me! I am a shark movie fanatic and every time there's a shark movies coming out I always anticipate it to be a good one. Probably one that really left a mark was Hally Berry's Dark Tide ages ago. After watching In The Deep I was completely blown away and was left with such great satisfaction. I love Mandy Moore and this movie is a perfect way of getting back since we haven't really heard from her for a long time. This movie is just a breath of fresh air. Not too commercial with overrated <more>
publicity. Just yesterday I recommended this to a friend and she absolutely loved it! Definitely this is way better than The Shallows.
