Wonderfully entertaining (by nemissary) |
We went out for a date night and went to see this film on a whim and it was surprisingly well done. I don't expect much from zombie movies to begin with, but this one is a keeper! The story actually broke the overdone zombie flick mold. I actually enjoyed the story and wanted to see and hear what the actors were saying and doing, instead of just cheering for the zombies like I would in many zombie movies. So, the film kept me interested and kept me entertained. There were quite a few overly dramatic, action scenes with Abraham Lincoln and they were funny and over the top.I don't <more> |
Best movie i have ever watched (by magicalak) |
I think that this movie was excellent. It was an action packed thriller that always kept me guessing as to what was going to happen next. The makeup was wonderful, the fighting was amazing, the dialogue was filled with ingenious one liners EMANCIPATE THIS was one example of such a one liner , and the special effects were wondrous. I recommend this movie to every one i know. I think that the movie was throughout a very scary horror movie. I also felt very attached to the characters especially Lincoln. I thought that Lincoln was a very handsome actor and played the part very well. I also <more> |
Uncompromisingly Powerful Alternate History and Superb Horror Film (by dianerpessler-46164) |
Director Richard Schenkman, working from his own original script, brings to the screen a unique alternate history of the Civil War and the role of the Great Emancipator in the Union victory. The amazing concept of Abraham Lincoln having to engage in battle with the walking dead in order to, not only preserve the Union, but to purge the Confederacy of evil, is astounding on its face. However, this film is so well conceived and beautifully realized with outstanding production values that the audience is quickly caught up in this dark struggle between Lincoln and the zombies. Excellent for the Faint-of-Heart Zombie Fans (by cweinstein-95) |
Useful for the zombie lovers of all ages. I took my seven year old sister and she adored the actors in the familiar Savannah area where we live! Definitely good for the faint of heart zombie fans! There are some things to be noted: 1 Directors did a good job in keeping this focused not on the gore, but on some history as well such as Lincoln, Booth, etc. 2 Make-up is extraordinary on the zombies, such as the blood 3 FINALLY a movie with no cussing I enjoyed the film, so will the other viewers who are crazy for history and historic people/places!ONE MORE NOTE: Did I mention this takes place <more> |
Highly enjoyable and effective zombie effort (by kannibalcorpsegrinder) |
Leading the Union in battle, President Lincoln discovers the return of a deadly disease that revives the dead has afflicted a small community vital to his efforts and leads the charge to cut them down and win the Civil War.On the whole this one was a highly enjoyable and exciting effort with a lot to like about it. One of the best aspects to this one is the fact that there's a lot more historical importance placed here than would otherwise seem weird or forgotten in such a situation that gets placed throughout this to make for an entertaining time. This in turn leads to a ton of action <more> |

Written & Directed by: Richard Schenkman Fantastic movie from Theasylum, Really one of the best that studio has ever done and seems with Oberst & Schenkman had two genius at their craft allowed to fulfill the novel promise.Filmed in Savannah,Georgia probably with a lot of Civil War re-en-actors as extras and supporting,It very pretty on location and rings authentic in accents and carriage.Bill Oberst,Jr. was felt to be a good actor when we interviewed him elsewhere and now after A L vs Z,Wow He is even cooler of a a cat. There is a lot of thrown in historical characters,Given a lot to <more> |
Not expecting Oscar material given the title, but really fun movie (by ProfessorSmashmouth) |
I rented this to watch with my son. Direct to video, fun premise, that our nation's best president had to battle zombies. Naturally, you aren't expecting anything profoundly serious. Reading some of these reviews you wonder what are people truly expecting. We found it fun to watch, decent action, funny premise, acting was fine, special effects were fine. Obviously not a big budget movie, but it did not look too low budget. Actually worth a watch if you can watch it with a kid and have fun with it. It was a good time watching it with my 11 year old son and a good memory as we are both <more> |
