This was such a great action packed film! Not only was the action top notch, but the flick featured some crazy shooting sequences. I wasn't bored once second throughout the entire movie. Can you say entertaining much? I also loved the fact that the flick featured Dominic Purcell from the TV series "Prison Break". He was born to play these kind of roles...and boy does he play them well! I wouldn't want to mess with him after watching this movie haha. I definitely recommend everyone catch this on VOD while you can. You regret sitting down with a bowl of popcorn and watching <more>
some awesome action packed flick on a Friday night!
Positively Brilliant Film, a must see for 2013! (by priestessk)
"But the question is: Why should I let you live You're a salesman, right? Sell me," Jim Baxford Dominic Purcell , demands of the CEO casually.Jeremy Stancroft John Heard , the CEO, responds, "Sell you... Y'know, there's not a person on this Earth that's worth over a hundred million dollars that came by that money honestly. Why don't you take a look at the old money? The Vanderbilts, the Carnegies, The Gettys, the Morgans, the Hearsts, the Rockefellers? How do you think they got all that money? They just annexed territories and licenses and businesses and <more>
killed the native population and imported slaves and sold guns to both the North and the South during the Civil War and controlled the politicians and they're heroes! THEY'RE American HEROES!!""We teach our children what, honesty and hard work are the keys to success? MY children? My children aren't gonna go off to some war, they're gonna go to Yale, they're gonna go to Harvard. And its gonna be the dumb stupid white trash kids and the black ghetto kids that are gonna, they're gonna fight America's senseless wars. And they're gonna protect American security and businesses, and its gonna be my business, MY business that's gonna get richer and richer and my bonuses are gonna get bigger and bigger and it's the same old story. It's the bankers and the owners and the advisers who get rich! And its the little people, who buy their stock that always lose in the end. To people like you.""Some people don't recover People like me," Jim states matter-of-factly."Its a free trade system my friend. It's Capitalism. That's competition in a Capitalist society. That's how the cream always rises to the top. That's how the strong survive, and the weak die off."I have never before seen any movie that has the steel cajones to so blatantly and succinctly call out the names of the Elites in this country, and to describe so eloquently the truth behind this country's bloody criminal history. Uwe Boll has created an underground masterpiece which will probably only achieve its place in film history after the fall of the Capitalist society he so strongly lambastes in this extraordinary film. I laughed, I cried, and in the end I cheered for the downtrodden protagonist as he led his Assault on every person who profited from his financial demise and devastating personal losses. The uncaring, unseeing, unfeeling wealthy Wall Street drones should all fear the day that there truly is no longer a middle class, because when it happens, there will be blood in the streets of America. Two thumbs up, and all my toes and fingers too.
Greatest Movie Ever Made About What Should Be Done (by pinerosp440)
Granted one man steps up and does what is in the best interest of humanity. But we as a nation of people should all step up and accomplish this without violence. But if everyone is too coward to do so..... Mad props to the creators of this movie! The directing was superb. The editing was perfect. Acting was perfect. Casting was great. It conforms to the fact that motion pictures should be works of art. It conveys a message that all people should hear, and not just some propagandist garbage to brainwash people. The audio track and sound engineering was exceptional too. I recommend that <more>
everyone should watch this movie and look into the system that truly exists that is keeping hard working, honest Americans enslaved. If Americans in 1776 could fight to preserve what they believed this country should be, why is the majority of people in this country now too afraid to stand up for what is right for themselves and there children.
It is a great movie! It will definitely make to the top 5 movies of 2013. The cast is flawless, the production was solid and the story 98min only will make you beg for extra precious minutes director's cut maybe? . Somehow it reminded me of Heat... I know the story is different but the guns are the same! It does picture life in difficult times. It doesn't solve the financial crisis, nor the struggle to provide for the bellowed ones, nor health insurance problems... but it makes you think what one could really do/accomplish when everything that matters fades away. The perfect time <more>
to watch it? A rainy Saturday afternoon. You will not be disappointed.! P.s: don't watch this movie on a Sunday, tho... specially if you plan to meet your broker Monday morning.
An action movie addressing a real issue (by empireofred)
9/10I really enjoyed the whole movie from the first to the last minute. Don't expect the whole 97 minutes to be packed with action though. In the beginning it's about real financial problems people have due to the banks' way of doing business. A married couple invested its savings in a mutual fund which went bad, and ended up having their house foreclosed. Jim Dominic Purcell tried to fight it legally but it only got worse and worse until he lost his wife she killed herself . After seeing the incompetence of the justice system and how the rich only got richer while only the <more>
average person like himself suffered he decided to kill the people responsible. The action kicks in relatively late in the film, however the interactions and emotions that led to Jim's desperation in the end are necessary in order to justify his actions. This film shows how we are only words and numbers on a piece of paper for the banks, and that they will stop at nothing to profit. As I see it the part before the action begins is how many people have been treated in real life, and the part where he goes ballistic is what many of those regular people who were robbed of their life would like to do.To conclude, I also noticed that this film wasn't made in Hollywood. Hmm...let me think... neither was V for Vendetta... is it a coincidence?
"Assault on Wall Street" is a good revenge melodrama from "House of the Dead" helmer Uwe Boll. This contemporary morality epic about crooked, ruthless, white-collar brokers who believe that their companies are more important than the clients that represent is comparable to the "Death Wish" franchise. Our sympathetic hero is a blue-collar worker who earns his living as a guard for an armored car company. Indeed, he knows how to handle firearms, and he is accurate shooter. The guard is happily married and his wife and he want to start a family. Unfortunately, the <more>
guard's wife has a severe medical condition that prevents them from having a baby. Worse, the guard runs out of money, and he resorts to Wall Street to land on Easy Street. None of this works out for him. Our hero loses everything, and his despondent wife opens her wrist veins with a knife and bleeds to death in their bed. It doesn't help matters when our hero is fired from his job. A former soldier, our protagonist formulates a plan to terminate with extreme prejudice anybody that had anything to do with his financial debacle. He acquires some additional firearms from an illegal arms salesman. Now, our hero has all of the firepower that he needs and he goes out to hunt down his prey and polish them off.Not only did Boll direct "Assault on Wall Street," but he also penned the screenplay. First, he does a swell job of establishing both the hero and his adversaries. This part of the script could be considered dreary for some spectators, but it is used to generate sympathy for the leading man. Second, the cast is believable, with Dominic Purcell delivering an outstanding performance as the woebegone armored car guard. Erin Karpluk is well cast as the hero's long suffering spouse. Eric Roberts is wasted in a minor role as the hero's attorney, while Keith David, Edward Furlong, and Michael Pare have somewhat larger roles as our hero's lunch time buddies. John Heard and Lochlyn Munro make despicable villains. Third, Boll provides a neat twist ending. Basically, "Assault on Wall Street" qualifies as a catharsis. You may find yourself rooting for our pistol-packing when he starts blazing into their numbers. The production values are sturdy.
Not what i expected, in a good way. This is not just a "run and gun" movie. I find this movie to be comparable to "Falling Down" from 1993, or Law "Abiding Citizen" 2009. Only a bit better! I would give both those movies 7, i give this 8. The reason for this is the build up, or rather the hard hitting decline. It is not only hard hitting, but it is highly relevant and indeed, highly believable. The acting is good, Erin Karpluk does an excellent role, and really gave me a "puch in the heart". Eric Roberts does the slick lawyer very well indeed. Dominic <more>
Purcell does a good job, but i have a bit of an issue there. There is a bit to much "stoneface" going on. If this is due to the actor or the director is probably a discussion for the learned of such things. But he carries the movie well.Im looking at Uwe Bolls movie list and i have seen six or seven of his over 30 movies, so i am no expert. If you look the Bloodrayne series it is quit entertaining, but they don't mean anything, if you catch my drift. I find Assault on Wallstreet to be quite a different animal. Yes there is shooting, executions and blood. But this time the "scenery" is different, it is relevant. Assault on wallstreet surprised me and therefor i might be overly entusiastic by giving an 8, but i do recommend this movie. Yes you might "have seen it before".. Well let me tell you, i have seen Superman, Spiderman, Avenge me this and Avenge me that so many times that the my eyeballs starts to bleed by just accidentally seeing the commercials for the bloody things.. OK, the new Spiderman was better than the last one, but thats besides the point! cough cough I say give it a go : Appreciate a yes or no for helpfullness, so i know if there is a reason for me to writing these comments.
A movie in the vein of Falling Down. A normal man is pushed too far and does things you only dream of. I say A-. (by cosmo_tiger)
"The real criminals are downtown on Wall Street wearing suits that cost more then any of us make in a year and they steal more money the anyone on Rikers Island ever dreamed of." Jim Baxford Purcell is a hard working man with a very sick wife. When advice he took ends with him losing all his money when the stock market tanked his life begins to spiral out of control. When he loses everything he snaps, and no one is safe. This is a movie that will make you feel many different types of emotions, mostly anger. An everyman gets screwed over and the bad news seems to pile on him again <more>
and again and finally does what some have only dreamed of. This is another movie that I do not advocate what he does, but it sure is fun to watch. This movie reminded me a lot of Falling Down in the way that that character also snapped and does things that I have always wanted to. By the time he snaps you really feel for him and are almost happy he does. I really liked this and I recommend the movie highly. Overall, one of the best B movies I have seen and Uwe Boll's best movie to date. I give this an A-.
Finally, a revenge on Wallstreet movie (by tom-810-150081)
Over the years there have been a few movies and documentaries telling the stories of big-bank-victims, as I prefer to call them. Movies like 'Margin Call', and documentaries like 'Inside Job'. Both movies tried to give a somewhat , reconstruction of what happened during the crisis. Thank god, someone finally wrote a script about taking revenge on Wallstreet and Uwe Boll did a great job executing it. Certainly, the movie delivers on the title, Assault On Wallstreet. The elements such as casting, cinematography and emotions are all surprisingly good, especially for a movie <more>
directed by Uwe Boll. To be honest, this director had managed to make a train wreck out of promising movies in the past, this being far from it. Foremost, the feeling of injustice and frustration for Jim Baxford acted perfectly by Dominic Purcell , really gets under your skin. Also, news program quotes during the movie add a great effect about the message of anger of the people versus the big banks and CEO's directing them. All of this has been filmed and edited perfectly, meaning there is no moment when it's distracting because of CGI, or other trickery. When I picked the movie, I expected a full-out action movie based on the poster. However I was surprised by the depth of the movie and action fans might get disappointed by the lack of action, it actually skips through most of it. But, the climax of the movie certainly delivered both action as story wise.
