Perfect for any TRUE Batman fan (by sonofsoulreaver)
Let me first say that I grew up on Batman: The Animated Series. This felt like the show that they wanted to make. Harley Quinn was foul mouthed, funny, and sexy. I was initially worried when I heard that Melissa Rauch would be voicing Quinn. For me, Arleen Sorkin IS Harley Quinn. The character was based on her stage persona and her voice is so central to the character. Melissa Rauch Bernadette from The Big Bang Theory brings her own charm and attitude to the character while still paying proper homage to the original. The tone was much lighter than much of B:TAS, but right on par with any <more>
episode featuring Harley Quinn. I haven't laughed so much in a long time. It was also more adult than I had expected. Quinn calls Joker an asshat, says that she's working "Pro Boner", and seduces Nightwing. There were so many nods to other Batman shows, comics, and movies. There was a long scene in which our heroes go to a bar that's a hangout for super villain hench-people that was so much fun.It wasn't all comedy. There were quite a few touching scenes in which we got to see the humanity of the characters. Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn have a wonderful moment near the end.The best thing hands down was the Heroine/Villainess themed Hooters style restaurant called Super Babes. I sincerely wonder why we don't have that in the real world. You can't tell me you don't want that.Don't expect "Mask of the Phantasm" in this. I'm really grateful that they didn't try to do that. It was a movie about Harley Quinn. It was always going to be silly, slightly campy, and wonderful. The only truly unexpected thing was the sexiness, and considering that this was a movie made for people who grew up on B:TAS, a group that is now in their early to mid thirties, it was a perfect addition. If you are a true fan of B:TAS, you will love this.
Harley Quinn & Batman is absolutely genius. It's the iconic Bruce Tim Batman Animated series paying tribute to the Adam West TV series. If you don't think this movie is hilarious then you are no DC animated films fan. This is one of my personal favorites because of the writing and dialogue. The humor is spot on and perfectly matched to Harley's sexy yet quirky persona. The scene in the Bat Mobile with Harley in the back seat asking Batman to pull over because she has diarrhea from eating too many hot wings and because he refuses, she lets rip the most disgusting farts on <more>
earth, is just laugh out loud hysterical. I was rolling on the floor when Nightwing almost gags and Batman tries to focus on discipline as Harley giggles in the back seat. If DC could squeeze some of this humor into their live action films, then they could surpass MARVEL in popularity. I must point out that this is not for kids and I would bet my life savings that all these haters giving this movie 1 star are not just new fans but young ones. I grew up in the Adam West Batman series so I consider this to be an amazing addition to an amazing collection. Lighten up people... stop judging and critiquing so much and take a chill pill. Enjoy the ride, stop focusing on your expectations and put some faith into the creative people that put this together while you sat on your couch playing video games and eating pizza pockets.
Was not too thrilled about Harley being in this title when going into this film. I've been a fan of the 90's animated Batman for a lot of years, and also really like Batman: Beyond. But, I was pleasantly surprised by this flick and Harley wound up being a hilarious part of the story with some nice action in it. References to older episodes and even 'versions' of Batman were a nice addition. The gathering of henchmen, in one part, was nice to see if you could identify who was what I sure could not tell who they all were, but sure knew some . Really miss the 90's version <more>
with Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill and the voices and animation that made it great! This installment was good enough to make me want to dig out the DVD's and watch them again.
A lot of people are complaining about this, but I liked it. Just don't expect it to be Phantasm or Hood. It's a very funny film. As a comedy it's great. I watched it at the special theater showing and I and the audience were laughing throughout.Melissa Rauch's version of Harley took some getting used to, but I thought she did a good job. This version of Harley is what makes the film work so well: both funny, crazy, and yet very relate-able and likable.I note that the film has its weaknesses: the ending is abrupt, more time could've been spent on explaining the toll of <more>
Harley and Ivy's conflict on their friendship, and Harley is unnecessarily sexualized. Still, I had so much fun I didn't mind.
Let me start off saying that i usually don't enjoy DC's animated adventures all that much. Most of the time i consider them watered down versions of stories that were magnificent while they where in the comics. But this little gem follows its own path. A refreshing story that is brought with much love and attention. I cant give out to much without spoiling but this is by far the most hilarious as well as most mature story coming from DC Animated so far!It even made me like Harley Quinn, something Suicide Squad even couldn't manage.
This was fun! (by cheighlee)
I'm reading all these reviews here and I don't get why some people didn't like it. This was THE Harley Quinn we all fell in love with during the animated series. Yes, a different voice actress, but justice was done.Plot was probably the weakest part because it's classic villain wanna destroy the world etc, but that was only the backdrop. Main thing was fun relationship between main characters - Batman, Harley and Nightwing. There are plenty jokes, adult stuff also, and it was all in all fun romp and I really can't find any problems with it. Animation is true to OG animated <more>
series, characters are great, acting is great. Plot is so-so, but everything else just clicks. I hope they get Bruce Timm to do more. This just reminds us how much we miss the old show.I'm guessing one thing might get some people turn against this and that's, spoiler - Harley and Nightwing getting it on. But I actually liked that pretty much, especially adding the weirdness to their relationship further down the line during the movie. It really isn't bad and pointless, not to mention - creepy, like in The Killing Joke where Batman and Batgirl bang. That was just wrong, but this looked kinda fun and interesting. So, it's apparent that I liked this and I think fans of the .90's animated show will like it too. They, characters... and fans, all grew up a bit but it's all there.
This isn't the usual Batman movie with dark themes and a serious plot, this is out to make you laugh. Similar to episodes like "Harley's Holiday" and "Beware the Creeper" from the animated series' of the 90s, this puts comedy first, and it succeeds, for the most part. There are some jokes that are just there to be either vulgar or sexy, some work some don't. I know Harley has become this sort of sex object over the years, but I can't tell if Bruce Timm embracing that side of her was more for respect or just fan service. The humor in this works well with <more>
guys like Bruce and Dick who's humor is more dry, and I liked how the character designs were from "The New Batman Adventures". The ending is also pretty funny, with a sneaky reference to DBZ during the fight between Harley and Ivy. The references are also good, stuff like henchmen from the animated shows having cameos, to even mentioning some of the video games. Is it the best animated Batman movie? No, I didn't like it as much as say "Assault on Arkham", but I thought it was a more complete package than say "Mask of the Phantasm". It serves as a good throwback for fans who liked the shows Timm and Dini worked on in the 90s, with some adult humor in there as well.
Such an amazingly relaxed animation!!! This is the first time, i have this feeling after watched a Batman animation. The director did very well on this movie. It is funny and so relaxed. The music and the voice of characters are great, especially the Harley Quinn character. There are another Batman with warmer heart and better Harley Quinn. Such modification of character created a funny movie. Although there is not an excellent plot, but it is a very good animation to watch if you need to relax and change the movie appetite. It is worthwhile to give this a try.
Don't be so judgmental, it's a Harley Quinn movie! (by Dimitris_Kountouris)
First of all, the most important thing about this movie, its aspect. That's not a serious Batman movie, in which you gotta focus on the plot. It's a movie where the main character is Harley Quinn, a film with humour where we see the chemistry between her and the Dynamic Duo being built and we also get some very funny moments. You gotta lay back, relax, don't take it seriously and you'll have a lot of fun. OK, there are a couple of ridiculous scenes, but for me these are the only negatives of this movie. The movie may be related to BTAS, but also manages to have its unique tone, <more>
that differs it from the series, the other Batman movies and perhaps from any DCAU film! It's not a special film, not a memorable one, but it's really fun and easily rewatchable, with lots of hilarious moments. As for the performances, Melissa Rauch doesn't disappoint in her first performance as Harley Quinn, Kevin Conroy IS The Batman so no further comments and Loren Lester is a great Nightwing as always. As I said before, be careful on your approach of the movie. If you expect a typical, dark Batman film, you will be disappointed. Watch it as a comedy, a movie that's focused on Harley Quinn the movie could have easily been called Harley Quinn and Batman and you are gonna enjoy the 75 minutes of runtime!
