I was not prepared for how awesome of a little indie thriller this one turned out to be. When I pulled it up and saw that the hot guy from True Blood and the awesome chick that played Dwight's one-night stand on The Office were in it, I figured it couldn't be all that bad. Wow, it was like way better than I could have ever expected. The script, dialog, direction and special effects were excellent. And I loved the chemistry between Lily and Mike. The character depth was so solid and realistic. This is seriously a diamond in the rough type film. I highly recommend that you see this <more>

This movie was a well blended mix of genres, there was paranormal, gore not over the top , a bit of a love story, horror, action, and a some drama tossed in for good measure. The acting was superb in my opinion, I was endeared, engrossed and convinced by the actors and actresses. The plot moved along at the perfect pace, remaining suspenseful and nerve racking until the last moment. The movie had a very pleasant ending that wrapped things up rather nicely.I would recommend watching this movie as it is one of the better movies I have found among the garbage that has been released as <more>
Good supernatural/mystery/horror film (by weemonk)
Long time since I've reviewed a film as I tend to use Facebook for that nowadays but this is a little gem that is well worth typing a few paragraphs about.I wasn't sure what to expect from this film and so with expectations low I came away from viewing feeling very satisfied at having watched a bloody good film.I've not heard of the director before and I've not seen the lead actress before now but have done a wonderful job. Basic premise is that a girl moves away after the loss of her sister and ends up at a séance trying to contact her sister. This leads to the vengeful <more>
spirit of a murdered girl choosing the lead to try and solve what happened to her.Whilst there are horror aspects, this movie is more a supernatural murder mystery thriller. The direction is excellent and the cinematography mixed with good believable acting make for a highly polished film probably far out reaching its budget. It's not perfect - some of the stronger horror parts concerning the murderer do not sit comfy with the atmosphere given from the rest of the film and sometimes some of the actions/discoveries are all too quick. None of this takes away though from what is a very good story from start to finish. This film could have easily fallen flat by giving in to the slasher/gore elements of the film and could have easily become run of the mill fodder. Thankfully though it does not and for the running time you are pulled into the film and captivated. This is one of those films that will not get a wide audience but deserves one. I'll be recommending to people I know.
Beginning with the self-castration of a young boy who has just been chastised by his mother for dressing up as a girl, attention then focuses on Lily Kelen Coleman . Lily is deaf, and currently grieving over the death of her sister Michele Sarah Sculco . Teaching art classes at Cassadaga University, Florida, Lily happens upon Mike Kevin Alejandro , the father of one of her pupils. Naturally, the two attractive characters begin a relationship as Lily takes steps to contact her dead sister. When creepy and unpleasant things start happening to Lily, often involving maggots , people have a <more>
difficult time believing her. Well, they would, wouldn't they? By this time, though, she very much has our sympathy.Considering how sensitively all the characters are introduced and built-up Lily is very appealing, Mike is a decent man, little Michelle avoids completely any trace of brattish-ness troubled juvenile characters are often prone to , I was surprised how horrific certain scenes were here. The most interesting of these however, involves the young cross-dresser having grown up to be a murderer who turns his victims into marionettes. With this being one of a two-strand story - the other involving Lily's spectral encounters - it isn't developed as much as it might be. Having said that, events are never predictable, like a great many horror hauntings are, and for that, I love it.The pay-off at the end is very satisfying, with twists built upon twists in a very carefully built-up way, and elements featured throughout coming together well don't miss the post-end-credits sequence also . I hope we hear more from Director Anthony DiBlasi, who makes such a good job of Bruce Wood & Scott Poiley's story unsurprising to hear in the extras that the project was originally two separate ideas melded together . From Coleman too, who puts in a terrific performance and is thoroughly watchable throughout. A word too, for Lee Grimes astonishing make-up effects. Really enjoyed this.
