The core theme of "Elizabeth Harvest" is Narcissistic abuse (by batmanbatka) |
The movie is a symbolical representation of Narcissist-Empath relationship. Sebastian Gutierrez describes a typical abuse dynamics between a Narcissist the husband and an Empath the wife . The Narcissist is brilliant and cruel; the Empath is naive and sensitive. The names of the main characters are not randomly chosen - Henry 8th Tudor executed many of his wives, and Elizabeth is the name of his daughter, who survived his abuse and even thrived as a Queen. The abuse cycle has two phases - an idealization phase, represented as a honeymoon; and a devaluation phase - symbolized by the killing <more> |
Ignore The Low Scores On Here; They're From Single-Celled Fast And Furious Degenerates - This Is A Great Movie! (by Ningishzida999) |
Elizabeth Harvest is a well acted, well thought out, intelligent, twisty indie thriller movie that will keep you thinking; if not a little puzzled till the end. Well worth a watch if you enjoy a thought provoking movie; however, if your tipple is more inclined to film with tragic storylines and terrible acting about idiots driving cars fast and presuming it's cool. Then this movie isn't for you! |
It's for people with intelligence (by christiannelite) |
I do recommend this movie to anyone that likes science. It's a brilliant film and with depth. The metaphors shouldn't go unnoticed. Elizabeth plays the part of a submissive wife while Henry is a narcissistic abusive power hungry god complex doctor. A brilliant scientist. Is there a coincidence that there names are Henry and Katherine? I think not. There are no coincidences in this life. King Henry and his daughter Katherine. You will understand why while watching them together. For the synopsis. We start with the two main characters in the honeymoon phase. They come home to <more> |
Stop 1 and 2 star ratings (by thegarlicconnection) |
This was a very good movie - suspenseful and a little weird. Reminded me of a modern '60's or 70's movie. These low ratings are ridiculous. |
Why so low score? (by foxyking93) |
I really enjoyed the movie. Dark and mysterious. Nice cast. By the way. Is the female nudity reason of poor reception? There's a lot of it in the movie. I exactly know in what world we live right now and many people want to make female nudity taboo again. Today there are not many films with females nude, but if any appears, it is always criticized. |
Surreal psych horror (by waitsalive) |
Loved the nightmarish quality of this movie. A brilliant Doctors obsessive view on a lost relationship that he refuses to move on from, even in the aftermath of death itself. The flashback nightmarish red soaked scenes set the mood and tone throughout the heroine s movement in the movie. Arthouse in all the right ways. |
A breath of fresh air ----- (by manurebros) |
NO lamebrain slice and dice here......No blood & guts for desensitised morons who have no idea what SciFi/horror is. Just a very stylish, well acted, beautifully photographed & directed film. Not a 'thriller' or 'action' film --- Those who have actual active brain cells will relish this gem as a return to the 'slow burn' that carries you comfortably along with it till the end. An enjoyable watch. |
Talk About A Weird Honeymoon (by foutainoflife) |
I enjoyed this film. It is different. I can't recall seeing another movie that is quite like it. Elizabeth is a newlywed who is honeymooning with her much older billionaire husband at his private mountain property. The only other people present are a female and blind male who are servants. The home is rather large and Elizabeth is free to enjoy all areas of the property with the only exception being a room that her husband, whom we learn to be a intelligent man of science, has specifically denied her access to. Elizabeth, who seems to come off as a bit ditsy, has a curious nature chooses <more> |
Unexpected and interesting combination of science fiction and horror (by abisio) |
A very young woman marries an older doctor. In their honeymoon he shows his impressive house and explains that everything belongs to her but there is one room she should never get into. As it obvious she did to and things get very ugly.Explaining more will ruin the many unpredictable surprises after that event. The movie becomes more interesting and engaging even when its pace is it sometimes a bit slow. The cast is perfect with the calm tone of the movie. Abbey Lee is surprisingly good in a character that needs to generate empathy and sympathy in order for the movie to work. CiarĂ¡n Hinds and <more> |
