AMAZING MOVIE (by highlandoaksmid)
After reading so much hate for this movie I thought I would share and give my take on it. Even tho the movie is too much compared to the book it still was very entertaining and lead me to even come to idmb to see if they were making a sequel. Micheal b jordan is one of the best up and coming actors in our time. Probably the next Denzel. Lol bottom line great movie. Hands down.

I don't understand how people can be book lovers and closed minded at the same time. I read the book and I also enjoyed the movie.
the burning season (by lee_eisenberg)
François Truffaut adapted Ray Bradbury's dystopian "Fahrenheit 451" for the silver screen in 1966. It was a worthwhile movie, if not his best. Ramin Bahrani has made a new version, updated for the 21st century with news feeds appearing across buildings . Like the updated version of "The Handmaid's Tale", this new version is seen as an allegory for the Trump era, with the suppression of information and slide into ignorance. I understand that Bradbury's original novel wasn't simply about the suppression of information as much as the loss of information: <more>
people were getting drawn more to TV and away from books.Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" also focused on the suppression of information. I recommend both movies as a warning about what could happen if people take the availability of information for granted.
Appreciated the technology and sonic moments in Montag's House and the efforts to adapt the story to postmodernism but he should have been married or had a domestic partner at the very least whom we'd see intimately consume the current media.
why the hate? this movie was very enjoyable (by gibajawil-52473)
I don't believe this movie was a masterpiece but jesus why the hate???? this movie was very good very entertaining and the acting was excellent .the storyline was also good I don't agree with its ratings here people are just hateful and mess with other peoples minds I almost did not watch this movie due to the ratings oln here but now I know better not to follow the idiotic opinions of hateful people like the haters that probably did not even watch and judge it by its trailer or just trying to follow other peoples posts . I bet most of the people rating don't even have hbo and did <more>
An Appropriate Resurrection in These Times (by imdb-eez)
"Based" on the Bradbury book, this iteration of the story continues to highlight the dangers of conservatism. Continued cutbacks in public education in the US and elsewhere create a significant block of the public ripe for this sort of brainwashing. Election of lunatics to positions of power becomes possible in this climate US, Britain and elsewhere . Next comes the censorship, of Internet, "news" and other modes of free expression. Book burning could popup one of these days, again. As to the movie, don't be too hard on it if it isn't word-for-word to the novel. <more>
An updated spin on the movie Equilibrium, Fahrenheit 451 doesn't disappoint. Sometimes one has to sacrifice blind ambition for the sake of the Greater Good. Excellent movie. Sharp points and down right fantastic writing and superb acting. I found the film encouraging. Hypocrisy is real and only courage and a deep rooted sense of morality can walk you through it; the fire. Two thumbs up!
The people reviewing this negatively are just as radical as the firefighters in the book/movie. (by thoriumop)
To begin, no this movie was not a perfect movie or an exact replica of the book, but what the hell is wrong with people? People are just as welcoming to new ideas and takes on things as the world order in the movie/book seeking to burn all books. The movie was a vague interpretation of the book, but it kept all of the underlying values of the book. Just because the plot doesn't run the exact same, doesn't mean that you cannot extract the same meaning. The movie was about a corrupt world order trying to eliminate people's ability to think for themselves and the book was about a <more>
corrupt world order trying to eliminate people's ability to think for themselves. As I've seen other reviews on this thread you could also interpret the movie as how media's impact resulted in a world consensus that eventually led to the current state in time that F451 took place in. The book can also be interpreted this exact same way and is apparently how Bradbury intended it to be.The movie added a nice modern spin to this. It portrayed a 'utopian' society in which the facts of the old world were being eliminated in order to portray another 'truth'. This was all in order to make people more happy, but at the cost of their ability to think for themselves. It was touched up with more modern elements along with what we associate with a futuristic society. All of these people in the comments acting like Ray Bradbury would be rolling in his grave have apparently never decomposed the book or even possibly read the book. The movie and the book are thematically identical. People fail to realize that in the world of literature an author may have his or her own reasoning or explanation behind a work of theirs, but what's great about literature is that readers can draw their own conclusions and paint their own pictures. From what I've gathered Bradbury says the book was about the impact media can have on people. However, most people see it as being about censorship. The book and the movie are about both. My point is that people get too focused on what the book portrayed, what the movie portrayed, if the movie was exactly the same as the book, but fail to realize that they are both talking about the same thing but through a different color of lenses. Book enthusiasts feel entitled to have a movie recreation be exactly like the book, but sorry to burst your bubble, you aren't entitled. I think that Bradbury would have appreciated this movie because it displayed a significant impact of media in Montag's life and it also gave justice to the fan perspective of F451 which was about the idea of censorship.Overall, the movie was actually really good if you just sit down and watch a movie with no prejudice and no expectations. Looking back, if I had gone in with the expectation of the book I would have been slightly disappointed, but it's simply idiotic to do so. Also, I think that all of the hate is simply a snowball effect. People see that others have disliked the movie so they are automatically bias. Holy sh!t, this is literally Bradbury's point, this IMDB page... if everyone had seen this movie online and reviewed it without being able to see other's opinions and ratings I guarantee that this movie would have had a higher average rating. Just comes to show the impact media has on people... Watch the movie without judgment and without expectations. The movie and the book have the exact same message and point to be made from what I gathered. As a reference to the movie, 2x2 4 original book and it's also okay for 2x2 to 5 the movie .
