Hatchet 3 A new Masterpiece in the New American Horror (by juliendelattre) |
BJ McDonnell did an excellent job as a novice director. I think with the writing of Adam Green the creator of the series it is the perfect team.I was happy to see Derek Mears as the swat leader. I was impressed by the special effects. They really created new ways for new victims. The music score was very suspenseful! I waited for a year to watch this fantastic movie. I would like every film student to watch the Hatchet series. There is so much to learn from Adam Green and his entire cast and crew. In Hatchet 3 the sets are designed with the script in mind. There are some interesting shots <more> |
Why don't you offer me some fried chicken and watermelon while you're at it? (by amr-saad1996-712-418843) |
Let me start off by saying that I'm a huge fan of slasher films, and the Hatchet series especially. I've watched the first two several times and couldn't wait for this release. The film starts off where the last one ended, with Marybeth shooting Crowley's head off with a shotgun extremely gory . However, this is not enough to kill him and he soon wakes up and attacks her again, leading to some sort of bloody chainsaw incident which left Crowley in pieces literally . To make sure this time, Marybeth chops off Crowley's head and flees Honey Island swamp with it in her <more> |
Probably the best of the series (by kannibalcorpsegrinder) |
Still alive after her battle with Victor Crowley, a woman is forced to go back into the swamps to save the rescue team attempting to find the cause of the disappearances and find him still alive and hunting them down with barbaric viciousness.Overall this was an utterly enjoyable and over-the-top entry in the series that makes for a wholly enjoyable time here. What really works for this one is the sheer, utter ruthlessness on display throughout the film, which ranges from the opening attack that continues on the themes from the previous entry to the way this one goes for the different attacks <more> |
Better than expected! (by mevanston1967) |
I did not have high hopes for this movie, indeed I expected I would be turning it off or fast-forwarding through it. But actually, I found it engrossing from the very beginning and I never once fast-forwarded it. There are some great actors mixed in with some not so great actors and there are several semi well-known names in this film. The story line was a bit lame, but the killings are really good, it has some scenes with great suspense and the special effects / makeup was pretty good. All in all, definitely worth a view. I think the director did a good job with what he had to work with. <more> |
Adam Green must have been whispering in McDonnell's ear the whole time! (by Hellmant) |
'HATCHET III': Four Stars Out of Five The third installment in the popular slasher film series that began in 2006 with the cult classic original about an unkillable and deformed sociopath, named Victor Crowley, lurking in the Louisiana Swamp and killing anyone who comes across his path. He's played in all three films by Kane Hodder, who is most well known for playing 'Jason Voorhees' multiple times in the 'FRIDAY THE 13TH' series which is fitting because Crowley seems like kind of an homage to the Voorhees character and is a very similar unstoppable <more> |
Good old fashioned bloody gory horror fun. (by Michael-Hallows-Eve) |
I watched this film last night. I've seen the other two, and this one for me is about as good as the first. It had some of my favorite horror stars in it Danielle Harris, Derek Mears, Kane Hodder, Sid Haig, Sean Whalen, and Caroline Williams . I think you have to be a true old school horror movie fan to appreciate films like this as they use old school effects and over the top blood and gore, which I love. The story is obviously predictable because of that reason, lots of death scenes, and easy to understand plot line. It carries on from the second as did the previous movie, so if you <more> |
HATCHET III Rolls Forth Without Losing Momentum! - *SPOILERS ALERT* (by HalphStaph) |
Just watched it - it was at least comparable to the first 2, so in my estimation, it succeeded in the entertainment level I hoped for and expected. For what it is, the films remain comedic, over the top slash and gore with some originality in execution ha ha Groannnnn - and of course, the ever increasing number of people they throw at V.Crowley... And yes, the main character protagonist remains the same. Plus... movie timeline wise, this is night #3 consecutively. Oh, and the Asian actor is back, as someone else - a recurring side bit I rather enjoy.Slasher fans, Hatcheteers - don't give <more> |
