The reason cinema was invented (by gut-6) |
Having previously seen "Date Movie" and "Epic Movie" also by these gentlemen and "Plan 9 From Outer Space" by the equally talented Edward Woodward I was gasping and sweating and feeling my anus slacken with anticipation when I heard this movie was going to be released. I was even more delighted when I saw the trailer. All too often comedy movie trailers contain all the best jokes, leaving nothing funny for the actual movie. I knew this movie was going to be great when I saw the trailer and there wasn't ONE FUNNY BIT IN IT!!!!! Clearly these were film <more> |
I'm so glad this film is a hit! (by benoit-3) |
I'm a sophisticated film lover living in Canada. My taste runs to Fellini and Bergman. Yet I am very grateful that this little unpretentious year-end pantomime review of Hollywood's worst cinematic excesses is reaching its intended public. There is nothing wrong with a swift kick in the pants of subjects and individuals who should know better. As far as I am concerned, no parody will ever make fun ENOUGH of the belligerent, war-mongering, fascistic, racist, sadistic and homophobic aspects of "300". No film will humiliate ENOUGH the downgrading of Western civilization that <more> |
Best Movie of 2008 (by ytonjin) |
This is arguably one of the most well executed films out there. The timing of the comical aspects matched superbly with the delicately placed visual-audio effects. The cinematic atmosphere provided an elegant, yet intentionally brusque plot that frankly served as a nice complement to the pop culture genre. The inner child that is inherent within all Spartans was a clear example of this, not to mention the lovable Father-Son relationship as exemplified at the beginning of the sequence.I would highly recommend seeing this movie as soon as possible. You don't want to miss out. |
All Fears Confirmed (by roman8) |
About Meet the Spartans? No.About most oh, so very negative comments? Yes.First things first: Meet the Spartans is anything but a cineast masterpiece. To all intent and purpose it is bad, but: it is MEANT to be bad, it is nothing more but one long, mean, cruel joke on media 'culture' in general and the American one in particular. Along with its audiences and critics. In terms of being made fun of without remorse, no-one gets left behind. It's tasteless, and it's merciless. Mercilessly funny, too.Is it badly written? Well, it's spoofing 300 - what did you expect? Is it badly <more> |
Best Parody Since Mel Brooks (by Phoenixriseandfall) |
I thought this movie was very funny. The actors were very sexy and it blows movies like Not Another Teen Movie and Epic Movie out of the water. I recommend you stay after the credits. The action could have been better but its more of a spoof so you expect it to be bad. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. I won't blow the movie for you but there are some shocking things that happen. The Britney parody which everyone has seen in the commercial keeps laughing. It's like Mad TV or SNL had a movie and it was based on 300. Thats how I would describe this movie. It rocked. It <more> |
very good movie satire (by Ozzy2000) |
This film is a send up of the very pathetic Spartan film 300 and its a bit of a chuckle. Its also takes a well deserved stab Troy's run up scene by Brad Pitt. Gladiator, 300, Alexander the Great and Troy were all really dumb trashy films with flabby , artificial pectoral half arse action heroes like the very flabby weaklings like Russell Crowe Mr two expressions face acting style and disabled Orlando Bloom. This film only takes on 300 and Troy but had the opportunity to take on the other Greek heroes films which is a bit of a pity. It have a shot at the cheap laugh "Borat" <more> |
Thank heaven Will Ferrell wasn't in it because it's a really hilarious spoof! (by macq00) |
..This is the movie Mad Comics will have wished it made! ancient history mixed with 2007 current events and celebrity happenings. All the fallen idols are skewered from Brittney and Kevin, Nicole,Paris, Lohan. All this happening while a complete satire of the "300" is reworked.Sorbo and McQuire are excellent as is the Xerxes dude from Borat.Carman Electra has finally found a genre where her over-the-top performances and boobs work. The pop culture American Idol and Dancing with the Stars fit easily into this production. The dancing was humorous and the finale was mind boogling. One <more> |
Can't-Breathe-Laughs (by MeganLindsay5685) |
My best friend and I usually pride ourselves in being rather intelligent. We've seen some very good movies from different genres recently "Charlie Wilson's War, "P.S. I Love You", and "Atonement" , but this movie left us gasping for air. Sometimes it's nice to let your hair down, put aside intelligent thought for an hour and a half, and enjoy some stupid humor. I'd say that we didn't go more than two minutes without laughing at something. There's a lot of pop culture references, and as long as you don't take it too seriously they're <more> |
if you are in the mood for some fun at the movies and don't want to sit trough a 2 hour epic movie then I urge you to see this (by superbadmike) |
When I went to see this movie I thought it would be good for some laughs, and at that it did not fail. The acting was mediocre at best, and the lead actor did look a bit like Leonidas. Carmen Elektra also stars and see is a character you just never miss seeing. Being a fan of 300 I din't know if I should've been proud that they chose it or insulted, I was happy. The gay jokes where a little bit tiresome at the end but no matter what you read from the next reviews probably whiten by people like the ones who choose the Oscars, meaning only liking movies the 70 men like who think this <more> |
