One of the best horror movies I've seen in a long time. (by jman051587) |
This movie is not your typical lame blood & guts horror movie. So many movies try to be scary by spilling 10 gallons of blood from a corpse, not so with meeting evil.None of the characters in this film are the squeaky clean good guy, everyone has secrets, everyone has flaws. The whole movie you're not sure what exactly is going on. Is Richie real? Is he a figment of John's imagination? Is any of this real? Is anything Richie says true?I was expecting in the end for John to be insane, and Richie to be the Mr Hyde to John's Dr Jekyll, but not so.What was truly terrifying about <more> |
It's what you want it to be (by Juliecarterllm) |
So many layers to this film. It can also be interpreted in many different ways. Did Camus write this? I thought it was this and I thought it was that.....but the movie held my interest no matter which way it went and the surreal and quiet quality of this film kept held a tight grip at all times. Has John, the recently unemployed realtor /father gone to hell? Is Richie, his new out of control acquaintance the devil. Is John being punished for selling the homes of his neighbors who couldn't keep up their payments? Was it just a dream, his subconscious or real life? What does Richie want of <more> |
Look beyond production value and enjoy this excellent movie! (by mark-kantardziski) |
Can't you tell that these are the movies that the actors get to have the most fun with? I love it when an actor can be honest with himself and go beyond that by exploiting their obvious stereotype.. In this case with Samuel L. he is playing on the fact that he can play a mentally disturbed black man just as well or better than Denzel in "Training Day" - Beyond that its not a competition they are different black men and thus each brings his own style to the type of character portrayed...It's short and entertaining throughout. This movie is not better than training day. Thus <more> |
Great underrated movie. (by love) |
I came across this movie recently having no idea it existed and gave it a shot. This is very rare considering I almost always will at least watch a trailer for a movie before investing an hour and a half of my life into it. The bottom line is that I was very pleased with the movie. It's so nice to see the old Samuel L. Jackson back. Luke Wilson is also a fine actor who we don't see in too many roles. There are some twist and turns that make the movie less predictable at times. I definitely think this movie is good for anyone interested in a nice entertaining thriller. This movie also <more> |
Well worth the ride. (by hump_flump) |
When I first went into watch this film, i was expecting it to be another Samuel L. Jackson Changing Lanes sequel. But a surprisingly convincing effort from the rest of the cast Luke Wilson, Leslie Bibb , helped turn this movie into a great thriller. I haven't seen Seen SLJ play such a deep role since Black Snake Moan. In the film, Luke Wilson plays a Middle Aged man that has just lost everything, and accidentally meets Samuel L. Jackson who needs help starting his car. What starts out as a seemingly random course of events, turns out to be something much more sinister. Anyway if you watch <more> |
WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER (by nogodnomasters) |
John Luke Wilson sells real estate but doesn't sell enough as the bills are mounting. While his wife Leslie Bibb is out for a walk, Samuel L. Jackson stops by and through a series of events, John is riding shotgun in a well dressed Jackson's GTO...a man we know has issues. Jackson acts a bit psychotic, confrontational, and criminal, so much so John wants him to take him back home.John, without his cell phone or wallet, finds himself in the uncomfortable position where he is at the mercy of strangers. Un fortunately he meets Tammy, an office affair and the threesome take off down <more> |
Great move for a Sunday Night (by mork_blasphemy) |
I just knew that this movie went straight to DVD and I sure can't understand why!!I saw some reviews that were saying that they didn't understand what was going on as being a bad thing, well in this case it wasn't cause it was the purpose of the movie,it was to make you wonder what was going on,and put your imagination to work. The acting was very very good, there were no weak actors ,the plot was brilliant in my opinion and the ending was also very good, leaving space to the watcher to take its own conclusions despite the one given by the story itself!! This movie kept me watching <more> |
Movie is good for what it shows about human nature (by groves-terry) |
Although there is a plot line to this movie that is very interesting, it is really more about the horror of what people do to each other, especially the ones they love. If you notice the references in the movie to poor lifestyle practices that we encourage within each other and teach to our children, you will get the real message. Notice: drinking early in the day, chastising the kids when they startle us with a surprise, over-eating multiple references huge bowls of craft dinner, processed foods, extra gravy, greasy food, smoking despite knowing how bad it is for us, slovenly life-styles, <more> |
Brilliant thriller (by kingpring) |
I thought this film was a great thriller, if like me you love thrillers then this is a great watch. Samuel L Jackson played a great role as a killer and he looked the part too with great facial expressions throughout,He was ruthless and did not give a beep, you know what i mean lol not too gory if you don't like all the blood and guts, but enough blood and guts for even my grandmother to watch. Luke Wilson played a good role too but i felt he could of done a little bit better, maybe that would be up to the writers of the film though? anyway all in all it was a great film, ignore any bad <more> |
