A little gem of a parody. (by fhabets) |
This movie captures the mood and feel of many a bad 50s B Horror flick, and then adds a few twists that'll bring smiles to your face. The actors do an excellent job of keeping a straight face while delivering bad dialogue. The movie's one-tone humor causes it to sag in the middle, but that is more than made up for by the inspired and silly ending. |
Hilarious! (by crin616) |
This movie is the best horror-spoof ever!My friends and I laughed and laughed. The way the movie ends is totally unpredictable and so silly that it is actually quite clever. If you didn't like this movie, you have no sense of humor. |
Thank you! (by ibufen) |
I'd like to take the time to thank everyone who did anything in this film! This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen... BUT IT'S GREAT! This is the first movie I ever saw that showed me just how funny bad movies can be. Some are painful Lost in Space , others are funny Twin Sitters , while some are both A Kid in King Arthur's Court . But this one....WOW! If you don't have a humor for bad movies, avoid it. But if you do: 10/10! |
One of the more underrated spoofs (by drew_atreides) |
...i saw "MONSTER IN MY CLOSET" one day, back in the 90's, when i stayed home sick from school. It has always stuck with me as one of the more well-done tributes to 50's style scifi, while also being a very clever spoof of the genre. The performances are all grade-8 cheese, but highly entertaining.I've always been surprised by how much emotion i felt for the monster, in the final reel. Even as a 12 year old kid i really felt the monster's love for the reporter. When he chooses death over not being able to fit in the closet with the guy, it almost brings a tear to my <more> |
OK...from the perspective of 2016 (by bfp13108) |
I was 30 when the movie was made and, then, just starting out on my career. The very first thing to grab my attention was Paul Walker who was obviously a kid back then. I have to wonder if he would have willingly taken the fame ride if he knew, even subconsciously, that it would end when it did. Of course, no one knows the day they will die but it's still a tad bit creepy to me to see this in retrospect. Then, I tried to find out more about Donald Grant online and there is NOTHING. I'm gay. I went through the whole AIDS thing lived in San Francisco, now a NYer which surely damaged <more> |
Engaging spoof of tacky Grade B monster flicks (by Woodyanders) |
Meek newspaper reporter Richard Clark a likable performance by Donald Grant , spunky college biology professor Diane Bennett a charming portrayal by the pretty Denise DuBarry , Diane's precocious little squirt son a very young and then unknown Paul Walker , and eccentric elderly scientist Dr. Pennyworth a wonderfully flaky Henry Gibson sporting white Einstein hair join forces to figure out a way to defeat an ugly, hulking, and predatory beast Kevin Peter Hall in a funky rubber suit that comes out of people's closets and kills them. Writer/director Bob Dahlin neatly concocts a <more> |
