Emilio Lopez, was absolutely brilliant in this film. I believe this is his best work so far. He was priceless as Mr. Lopez.Overall this film is great. I don't know why IMDb users have only given it a 5.5/10. I think it should be much higher than that. In my opinion, you should see this film. It's funny, action packed, and even heartbreaking in some places. You won't be disappointed.

Instead, the combination of likable characters, a quirky love-story, and the overall positive moral of the film makes "Mr. Deeds" a favorite at any movie store. Longfellow Deeds may be perhaps the friendliest and most humble character that Adam Sandler has ever played, and the best thing about this role is that it seemed so natural for him. What really makes this film special is the cast of supporting characters such as John Turturro, Steve Buscemi, and Winona Ryder. Turturro plays the humorous and sneaky Emilio, a servant of Deeds while Buscemi plays Crazy-Eyes, a friendly but unusual citizen from Mandrake Falls. Both of these characters liven up the movie and add just a little silliness to the mix. Ryder stars as Babe Bennett, a sexy journalist who tricks Deeds into falling in love with her in order to gather any information she can about him to save her job. The relationship between Babe and Deeds really becomes the focal point of the film, and takes its viewers for quite a ride.The minute that Deeds saves Babe from her staged "mugging", it is obvious that these two will end up falling in love. This brings up one major flaw in the plot: it is way too predictable. This isn't necessarily a negative thing, but some viewers might not enjoy the fact that they can guess what will happen next. When Babe initially goes out with Deeds, she is simply doing it for her job and does her best to fake affection toward him in order to find out more information. As time draws on, Deeds' heartwarming personality grows on her more and more until she realizes she is in love and can't live with the fact that she is lying to him. This creates an interesting chemistry between the two, and it definitely keeps the audience's interest. One of the best parts about this film is that Longfellow Deeds' personality is contagious. It grows not only on his friends in the film, but also grows on his viewers. An important lesson taught in this film is to be happy no matter what you have. Deeds is a prime example of this, as even gaining $40 billion and becoming the richest man in New York doesn't change who he is one bit. In fact, he ends up teaching a room full of greedy stockholders this same exact lesson too. This is what makes "Mr. Deeds" such a fantastic film, seeing a lovable character that stays strong and fights for what he believes in. Having any other actor in the place of Sandler would definitely knock this film down a couple notches. The image Sandler portrays as Longfellow Deeds locks in the audience and makes them begin to care about him, especially as the girl he falls in love with turns out to have been hiding something from him. The twists and turns throughout the movie definitely keep things interesting, especially when things look so hopeless for Deeds that there couldn't be any way out. Anyone who is partial to a heartwarming classic will get a few good laughs and will definitely enjoy "Mr. Deeds".

the lucky guy being Longfellow Deeds.Longfellow played brilliantly by Adam Sandler was a small town simpleton .. good at heart ... helping ...caring ... and owned a pizza place .. ''Deed's Pizza'' . Due to his nature the whole town loved him. He used to write cards but hallmark always eluded him.He is brought to the new york city and the whole town is after him... trying to get a scoop by somehow duping the simpleton. The rival media to Blake media had a reporter Babe Benett Winona Ryder who tries to get close to him for a media scoop and gradually ends up falling in love with the simple good hearted guy with a right foot so badly subjected to frost bite in his childhood that he had no feeling left in it.But later he gets to know of all the treachery and donates his share to the 'Negro College Fund' and leaves for his hometown only to find out that his uncle's company would be broken and all 50,000 employees would be thrown out.This also features some really funny performances by tennis' very own bad boy John Mackenroe... like the instance when Deeds and Johnnie boy throw eggs at moving cars .. and a lot more.Another hilarious character was 'Crazy eyes' played by Steve Buscemi ... he had his eyeballs facing different directions ..who was first shown in jail for biting the mailman.. because he thought he was casting a spell on him .. he however figured out that the postman could be waving at him as well.Who can forget the sneaky butler played by John Turturro .. he could appear out of anywhere and disappear from anywhere ... kind of reminding me of Batman. When he saw Deeds' right foot he said that the hediousness of that foot would haunt him forever.To find out how he manages to save his uncle's company and how his love wins him back.... check out this hilarious new and improved Mr. Deeds.

times during the movie. Adam Sandler did a great job acting. Winona Ryder is a bit shaky in this role. John Turturro is hilarious as the butler who just sneaks up on everyone. I also have to mention Steve Buscemi as Crazy Eyes. That is what you call good comedy referring to Crazy Eyes . There are some great songs to listen in this film. Overall, this is a good film but Sandler has done better films. I rate this movie 8/10.

a cameo of one of the characters he has played in a previous Sandler film "Big Daddy" . I thought it was cool. And, hey, forget Winona Ryder ever shoplifted, okay? She has done some good work before, even nominated for an Oscar "Little Women" . Everyone has their quirks; hers just happens to be illegal, that's all. Do I need to attach a *wink* to this?? I found the plot laugh-out-loud funny in places. Yeah, not Sandler's BEST movie, but definitely one of my favorites I didn't like some of the acting performances...a lot can be said for good casting. . I enjoyed the special makeup. Funny how little things can mean a lot with someone's appearance. Remember not to take this one seriously. It is Adam Sandler, after all. I'm a huge fan. I own all his movies -- except "Little Nicky". Wish I never saw that one. If you like Adam Sandler, you'll enjoy this one -- hopefully as much as I did!

Deeds falls in love with her and finds out that she is a liar.Sandler and Ryder have great chemistry together as the protagonist and the love interest. Along with Sandler and Ryder are performances and cameos by Sandler's buddies. John Turturro plays Emilio, Preston Blake's butler, who turns out to be Blake's son. Steve Buscemi plays Crazy Eyes, a citizen who has a self explanatory name. Peter Dante plays an employee at Deeds's pizzeria. Allen Covert plays a co-worker of Bennett's. Blake Clark makes a cameo as the father of a quarterback that Deeds punched out. Rob Schneider even makes a cameo reprising his role as the delivery man from Big Daddy.Peter Gallagher is good in his role as Chuck Cedar, who was Preston Blake's right hand man. Gallagher shows how much of a jerk Cedar is as he tries to take advantage of Deeds and walk all over him. Jared Harris is also good at playing a jerk in Mac McGrath, Bennett's boss. McGrath is out to make Deeds look bad.While I haven't seen Frank Capra's original version starring Gary Cooper, this version directed by Steven Brill is very funny and the laughs keep coming. Adam Sandler is very funny in this role. This movie is as funny as Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, and Anger Management.
