Well, I'm not a Special Effects specialist so, I found them ASTOUNDINGLY GOOD!!During my time in the business I spent so many hours designing sets and clothes and being there, watching the filming of a scene endless times until I thought I was loosing my mind, that I can appreciate ANY effort made by a crew trying to come up with something good, making it impossible for me to put down other people's efforts. I loved the penguins, the way they looked, the way they acted and interacted with all the actors involved in their scenes... I found ALL THE ACTORS excellent in their roles --otherwise they wouldn't be there, believe me-- , from the humblest ones to Jim Carrey.I have no complains about the plot, the happenings, the incredibility of most of the scenes... I just enjoyed this movie as much as I never imagined I could have enjoyed it. It leaves you with a nice, clean feeling about life and people. Listen, I know as much as you do that this life and its people STINK, but once in a while it helps to keep going watching a film of this kind.

It was good clean fun, the best kind.I saw the movie tonight at a screening, and I would not be surprised if the movie gets savaged by the critics, who tend to have contempt for any movie formula. My advice, if you've got young kids, or even if you have a date who enjoys a good laugh, is to go and see the movie and have a nice time.

Its charm keeps it fresh though!Quick Synopsis-- A divorced father and business man, Mr. Popper, has a stressed relationship with ex-wife and kids. We get a flashback of Popper's childhood and see that his own relationship with his father was strained, if even existent, as he was always away traveling to far away places. Now, 30ish years later, Popper finds out his father has passed away, and leaves him a "souvenir." A few days later, a penguin shows up, and the antics go from there! Throw in a 'bad guy' zoo keeper, and you pretty much get the whole movie. Popper learns the value of family through a group of cute little penguins, and that being a father is more important than a big, important job. Yes, Jim Carrey was toned down... but it worked well. The movie was funny enough to keep an audience interested, but not so funny that it overshadowed the heart of the story. This is a pg rated Fox film, so poop and fart jokes are expected. Without those, this movie would have been even better and more charming. Despite that, I still loved the movie and that's saying a LOT for me. I usually hate a movie as soon as poop/fart cheap jokes come out The penguins are absolutely adorable, even if computer animated in a lot of scenes. Carrey has awesome chemistry with the other characters in this film, and his charm shines right through the screen until you can't help but root for him! He's a true gem. I also loved seeing Angela Lansbury again. She was fantastic!All in all, this is a sweet film that is great for both adults and children. It has the heart warming factor along with humor--- perfect combination!

The casting was brilliant and even Jim Carrey, Angelina Lansbury and Jeffrey Tambor did great at their performances. The jokes were very funny I laughed at every single one of them. The development was organized and well built together. That's all I gotta say.Mr. Popper's Penguin's lacks in any depth, but it is a great comedy film and little kids and their parents should watch this so they could laugh their butts off for a few minutes.8/10

Given all the animated productions made every year, the film is able to prove that you can still make live-action family comedies that actually work. It is a genuine breath of fresh air to see real animals being entertaining without actors having to voice them over. Unlike Happy Feet or Surf's up the most recent significant titles that featured penguins , it did not need to humanize the penguins to show emotion and character, and that is one of the great things about the production.As mentioned above, this is a film for the family. Dynamics between members of the family were clearly displayed Popper and his father, Popper and his ex-wife and kids , and it also showed how Popper's children were dealing with the broken family situation. Hearty and heavy moments were evenly distributed throughout the movie, which made it engaging enough for the audience. Although the plot could be a little too fantastic and convenient at some points, the penguins suddenly jump into focus and they remind us that we are not there to judge; we are there to enjoy.Mr. Popper's surprises us with a talented cast behind it. Jim Carrey Liar Liar goes back to what he does best – comedy. Although Mr. Popper's character is far from being Ace Ventura or the Mask, one can't help but notice that there's a sense of funny-crazy in him too the slow motion bit was hilarious , which makes him all the more entertaining and likable. Starring opposite is Carla Gugino Sin City, Sucker Punch who is no stranger to family comedies because of her role as the mother spy in the Spy Kids franchise. Supporting performances were also key to the movie's success. It was funny seeing Clark Gregg Iron Man, Thor as Carrey's adversary, while Angela Lansbury, Jeffrey Tambor Arrested Development and Madeline Carroll Flipped were vital in fleshing out more about Popper's character. I especially liked Ophelia Lovibond as Popper's assistant. Her P problem was highly amusing, and applause should be given to the scriptwriters for coming up with her lines. Perturbance! In the Philippines, many people were not aware about Mr. Popper's Penguins until a few weeks before its release. There was not much buzz or hype created around the film, which I suppose is also true for the other markets it opened in. This may be a disastrous situation for Hollywood blockbusters nowadays, but for this film, it is just right. While Mr. Popper's is a generally fun experience and a delight to watch, its cute appeal will not attract everyone. It may not be noticed in the slew of summer movies coming out this year, but it is worth a watch for those looking for good, wholesome laughs and a solid stress buster.

This would please the boss Philip Baker Hall very much, for the corporation has plans to demolish the old place and build something else. Luckily, Mrs. VG is a smart gal and she is, so far, resisting Mr. P's hard sell. One day, a big box arrives at Popper's penthouse. In it, first, is a letter telling of his father's passing on his latest trip to Antarctica. Lo and behold, the rest of the box holds an actual PENGUIN. What the heck do you do with such a bird? Before Mr. P can figure it out, the real estate agent goes for another meeting with Mrs. VG. When he gets back, the penguin has turned the bathroom into his own ocean. Uh oh. More trouble ensues when another box of five penguins arrives just at the moment of Billy's birthday party at dad's. Thinking quickly, Papa P says they are his son's gift and both of the kids are enchanted with the birds. Even Amanda's feelings start to thaw at the sight of the darling creatures. Before long, Mr. P, who must hide the penguins from the building's management AND the zoo officials, learns to give the birds an environment more suited to them, that is, chilly, and he teaches them how to dance and appreciate Chaplin movies. But, how long will he be able to care for animals that are not made to be pets? And, will Mr. P be able to land the big sale and Amanda's affections again? This is a very darling family movie, with actual penguins, and a zany plot. Carrey, of course, is tailor-made for zany and he does a great job. So nice, too, to see Ms. Lansbury, who handles her key role with ease. Gugino, the lovely Carroll, Hall, James Tupper, and all of the others do nice work as well. Naturally, the Manhattan setting and the plush penthouse are very eye-catching while the costumes, photography, script and fast-paced direction make the movie very enjoyable. So, Hop down to the road to Pop, everyone, and then head to the library to get the outstanding children's book of the same title.
