I remember seeing Passenger 57 when I was a freshman in high school and when I first saw it I loved it. Now nine years have past and I decided to buy it huge Bruce Payne fan . I absolutely love this movie sure this movie parallels Die Hard II and you can find it highly predictable but I feel it does exactly what an action film is meant to do. The director, Hooke, provides adventure through incredible situations that are yes unbeliveable but still very cool. The viewer does not have to search for a hidden meaning or a morel message they just have to sit back and enjoy the ride. I suggest that <more>
if you are looking for a way to veg-out and relax this movie is perfect to watch.
This film is very good and it has tons of action! Wesley Snipes is good as always and Bruce Payne performed as the ultimate villain! What a bad guy!His fellow colleagues are very convincing and I like Elizabeth Hurley in the film as part of his team!Tom Sizemore was good. The music was very good and it was very 80s like which was very cool!If you like terrorist films on air planes and like Wesley Snipes and especially Bruce Payne then see Passenger 57!
One of my favorite forgotten action movies with Snipes! (by BubbaFish)
Everything about this movie is great, the action and the acting. Brilliant performance by Bruce Payne as the main villain, man he really suits as one too. And who can deny our all time favorite black male action hero Wesley Snipes! The storyline was easy to understand and most of the action and the main acting from Wesley and Bruce stole the attention. Wesley's love interest stewardess was hot, although she looked and sounded like Michael Jackson. I was surprised to see a younger version of Elisabeth Hurley actually, but she was much more prettier then I thought because that was the time <more>
before she underwent many plastic surgery's. I was also impressed by Tom Sizemore's performance too, he acted very friendly and buddy to Wesley which really warmed my heart to see. Finally some nice chemistry between black and white. I thought the other actors did a fine job too, and some of the characters lines were hilarious, but of course Wesley was the funniest. What really gave me goosebumps was the ending song which was Stevie Wonder song actually performed by a new talent at that time called Norman Brown. The Too High really fitted the whole air incident with Wesley fighting against Bruce.Loved it!
Still one of the best oldies around (by tonymutisya)
If you want a film that you can watch when you don't want to get tired of thinking a lot then this a film for you. Action is fast paced and really enjoyable.
Passenger 57 is a non-stop thrill ride (by hypestyle)
"Passenger 57" is an action movie starring Wesley Snipes. Snipes, fresh off action success in "New Jack City", plays John Cutter: a former police officer turned security consultant, he just recently has finished a stint as head of security for a commercial airliner. His trip back home by plane, of course is interrupted when FBI agents abruptly bring aboard recently captured terrorist Charles Rane Bruce Payne .The extensively connected Rane has managed to have his compatriots infiltrate the plane's staff, and a hijacking takes place. Enter John Cutter. Before the <more>
film's end, a series of fistfights, chases and shootouts will take place on a plane, an airport and a carnival. The steely-eyed Snipes is very convincing as the no-nonsense Cutter, who is given a tragic backstory a recently deceased wife and an arsenal of kung-fu moves to help him take on the bad guys. Payne chews up scenery with bombast as the slithery Rane. Supporting characters include Tom Sizemore as Cutter's boss and Ernie Lively as a small-town sheriff. Clever viewers may notice Elizabeth Hurley as part of Rane's crew. The film is directed by Kevin Hooks, a former actor TV's "The White Shadow" who delivers all the right notes for the action genre. Hooks' father Robert has a bit part here as an FBI agent.Tracking at 84 minutes, the film moves along at a breezy pace, thankfully eschewing any sort of side-plots that could have dragged things down.
Man, I love this film. I wish Wesley Snipes did more action films in his career. He only has a few under his belt. My other favorites of Snipes are Blade 1, 2 and 3.Passenger 57 is a hijack film where bad guys take over an airplane. It's up to Wesley to rescue everyone. Typical paint by the numbers action film and I don't mean that in a negative way. I love action films so I know what I am getting when I watch. So, Passenger 57 is fun with Snipes showing off his cool martial arts, a lot of athleticism and shows a lot of humor. The bad guy is played by Bruce Payne and he is <more>
delightfully evil. Elizabeth Hurley is in this and she looks a little chubby here. Not to be mean. Overall, Passenger 57 is a quick, fun, intense film. Give it a look. Easy classic action movie.
Good solid action flick. A must for Snipes fans. (by Conan_The_Barbarian)
Passenger 57 is an enjoyable and rather underrated action film. Although there is not too much of a storyline, the slick action scenes combined with some very good performances from Wesley Snipes and Bruce Payne kept me entertained from start to finish. While Passenger 57 offers nothing really new to the action genre, it does offer plenty of fast paced chaos and explosions and combined with some entertaining hand-to-hand combat skills by Snipes, it is certainly better than a lot of other standard action fares out there.Snipes gives a very good performance as the lead and Bruce Payne is <more>
brilliant as the mentally unstable villain. The other cast are somewhat overshadowed by Snipes and Payne, but do an adequate enough job.Overall I was very pleased by Passenger 57, so much so that it proudly belongs in my DVD collection. A very good choice for action fans and a must for Snipes fans. 8/10.And don't forget...."Always bet on black!"
This is a good film to watch if you need to kill 90 minutes. It does'nt require much thinking, its just a mindless shoot em up action thriller. Snipes was probably the best part of this movie giving a solid performance as an action hero. Bruce Payne is solid as the crazed terrorist Charles Rayne, and I thought Tom Seizmore gave a strong performance in this movie. The action scene's were good too, especially the part at the carnival. In all a very good action movie and is a good to watch if you dont want to watch something too long but entertaining. 4/5
It could have been better with a leading actress (by garyldibert)
This picture was in released in theaters on November 10 1992 starring Wesley snipes as John Cutter, Bruce Payne as Charles Rane, and Elizabeth Hurley as Sabrina Ritchie. John Cutter is grieving over the death of his wife after she was killed by an armed robber and John is blaming himself for her death. So John who's an anti terrorism expert decides it's time to retire from this dangerous job. However, a friend who works for an airline offers John a job as his chief of security. So John is being flown to Los Angeles for the companies annual meeting where he will be introduce as the <more>
Chief of security. However, John encounters one big problem as the FBI is transporting Charles Rane one of the most sadistic and deranged terrorist of all time to Los Angeles on the same plane. Now John has to stay on the alert because anything can happen when a dangerous criminal is on an airplane. Now a few thoughts on this movie! Again this is one of the few movies that captures you attention at the beginning and it never stops until it's over. John Wesley Snipes does a good job as his role as John Cutter. Based on the action, adventure and drama that are in this picture I give this movie 8 weasel stars.
