Giving a 10 to offset the negativity. (by matthewfonte)
Ok so this movie was a solid 8. And I am a full grown adult. I thought the plot was interesting. Good acting. Relatively novel idea. It had me very intrigued until the very end. I didnt particularly care for the last shot as it opened up questions as to whether or not Jude would still end up in trouble but this movie was incredibly well done in my opinion.
Donnie darko in the 20th century (by hopolobabe-40378)
Yes, this looks to be a Sundance film at it's best with a touch of donnie darko mixed in, but the originality of the story line deserves kudos. From the begining you imagine it to be a horror film which could leave you let down to say the least. This is a suspense with twists and turns. The main character "jude" allows a look into the dark side of teenage anguish and the troubled thoughts they imagine in true form. I think this is a testament to all who think that they are exempt from being a part of the horrible things happening around us and to pay close attention to the <more>
Fun, entertaining movie with some genuine scares (by kayebee_18901)
As with all time travel/alternate reality movies, don't think too much. Good performances from the cast, an intriguing premise, some genuinely creepy/scary moments and a satisfying ending. It's rated PG-13, so those expecting lots of blood, gore, etc., will be disappointed. I rated a 10 to even out the low ratings here-this movie is definitely worth a watch.
Should have way better reviews! (by kristamford)
This movie was crazy! Definitely not like any movie i've seen before, and i've seen em all! It was spooky, it was weird, and it left me with tons of questions which can either be a good thing or a bad thing . I think the idea of it was bizarre and cool and creepy all at the same time! Very strange, really awesome! Great for Halloween!
Clear Vision of Hell (by beorhhouse)
Our thoughts direct our realities. This film shows that truth clearly. This is quantum physics at its most understood, and is nothing other than the wisdom found in the words of Jesus of Nazareth--who is invoked several times in this film, but flippantly as most people invoke him. The takeaway from this gem is be careful of your thougts, because they become--before you know it--your reality.
Everyone seems to have missed the truth here (by graceh-14901)
In reading all of the different reviews I've noticed that no one realized that "both" of the other dimensions the kids visited were, absolutely, the same dimension. That's how Mr. Wallace was able to get everyone to stand down to get the kids back into the closet. It's ALSO why the main girl's sister tried to smother her. When they run away the sister says "you should have just let me smother you, it would have been easier" it's because she, and everyone else, knew that they were in this horrible consequences of your actions dimension. Yes, the movie <more>
had some pointless moments, but it WAS a good movie. It keeps you guessing until the end. And when you don't get the answers you're looking for, you have to think about the movie after it ends. It's a movie that's engineered to make you come up with your own answers later. It's a solid and smart movie. Would definitely recommend. Also, I wish they still had the forums as I would also like to explain the pencil and Derek's the bully disappearance. Many people think that the movie emphasizes the pencil for no reason. But that's not true. That pencil is going to have the bully's and the main guys blood on it. From when he cut his thumb just before entering the closet. He's going to answer to murder charges after the movie ends.I only took the time to write all of this because I know a lot of people come here post movie for answers, so i'm here to scratch that itch. Hope you enjoyed it!
I love horror movies and I've certainly sat through some stupid ones on account of there not being much decent selection out there not to mention having watched most good titles almost immediately! - I didn't go into this one with high expectations, but for a late night, "can't sleep so I'm watching a movie on your phone with headphones and a blanket over your head so you don't wake your guy up" it was pretty darn bearable. I like the parallel reality theme - it wasn't particularly well-done here, but it was acceptable enough for what it was. It's <more>
relatively new to the genre, but gaining popularity. I am a person who actually believes in parallel realities. There were some compelling moments. It would have been awesome if a few more things had been explained, such as why the principal was wise to what was going on, or what the significance of that particular closet was - basically WHY what happened to the main guy & girl in the closet even happened. I gave it a a few extra stars for originality. We need better horror movies!
