I can't believe the terrible reviews!! This was exactly what SATC is supposed to be - fun and funny, and oh so girlie! It totally captured the spirit of the beloved show and characters. If you were a fan of the show, how can you not love this movie!? SATC1 movie, on the other hand, was kind of depressing. This movie was a riot! I LOVED it!! It was just what the fans ordered!!! Hot men, cool fashion, glitz, exotic location, true friends and Aidan! So great to see Aidan and the chemistry between him and Carrie. Everyone in this movie looked AMAZING - All those hot men, and all the gorgeous <more>
ladies. The gay wedding was hilarious. Can't wait for SATC3!
I loved this movie. The point of a movie like this is to simply see what the characters are doing now and to laugh. I laughed a lot at this movie, they did a good job of bringing out the comedy in the characters. I think people go into this movie expecting too much. I was just happy to get another glimpse into the lives of the girls. As always the girls are facing issues with life. When they get the chance for a great adventure together they take it and live life to the fullest. It isn't quite as serious as the series or the first movie but it does deal with real issues that people face <more>
everyday. I would suggest to everyone who was a fan of either the series or the first movie to go see Sex & the City 2. If nothing else you get a look at the fashion and glam of the world these girls live in and as always lots and lots of shoes.
Honestly, I don't get the bad reviews. It is "Sex and the City" so you shouldn't expect a big story line. You are there to see the shoes, the cloth and man. The wardrobe budget was in the range of $10-million so it's worth seeing!!! Just for that it is 10/10! Abu Dhabi scenes were filmed in Moroccowas because they were denied the shooting permits based on moral objections to the movie's name -- "Sex and the City. And lots of people have a moral objections with the script hence the reviewsWe go to the movies to escape reality not to hear about the recession. Its a <more>
pure pleasure not a documentary on National Geographic for goodness sake! The show was so popular in first place as pure escapism. So just watch and enjoy it.
Listen folks...if you are looking for something of substance here, look elsewhere, but I just left the theater with my husband who's A SATC hater and we had a really good time!! I laughed so hard at certain points of the movie and I'm still laughing! Everyone in the movie theater seemed to be having a good time. I grew up with these four girls and some of my friendships were identical...and that's what we loved about the show, and that's why we go to see the movies. As women, we do see a lot of what we've been through on screen. Are the girls still hot? I would say that <more>
they look great for their ages! We are all growing older and I think that they are still looking pretty good wrinkles and all . I think that anybody would definitely give them all a second glance if they saw them walking by. Enjoy it for what it was and what it is, a good time out and a few great laughs. As for the situation with Aiden, who hasn't ran into an ex boyfriend/girlfriend and had those thoughts? For the serious SATC fans, you will absolutely adore this film. The wedding was hysterical and Liza was looking and moving around pretty good. I for one feel that it was definitely worth the price of admission and for my husband who I had to beg to go with me; he actually thought it was pretty good too!
Loved the series, liked the first movie, loved this sequel. (by TomCruiseFan99)
After the blockbuster success of the first movie 2 years ago, it was inevitable that a sequel would follow. And while the reviews have been quite harsh and many may feel that it's just "more of the same", my response is: "So what?". If you're a fan of the hit TV series, you should by now know what the general tone of the movie would be. If you hated the series, then obviously this movie wasn't meant for you to enjoy. It's 2 years after the events in the first movie, with Carrie and Big settling into domestic marital bliss, but soon Carrie starts to resent <more>
the "routine domesticism" and longs for more excitement and fun with her husband. But instead, he enjoys sitting on the couch, ordering take-out and watching old black & white movies. Charlotte is struggling with being a parent to two young girls. Especially when the youngest is continually crying and she soon finds herself longing for freedom from parenthood, if only for a while. Miranda is stuck in a great job, but with a boss who continually demeans and despises her, even though she sacrifices way too much family time in dedication to her work. All three of them soon get the perfect opportunity to unwind, when Samantha gets invited to Abu Dhabi in the Middle East, with regards to promoting a client's new movie. She invites her girls, and they all set off in search of a break from New York City. They of course get involved in hilarious mishaps notably Samantha and her insatiable sexual appetite , as well as offering some wry insights into Middle Eastern customs with regards to women and how they are viewed. Many were complaining that taking the girls out of "The City" New York was a bad move, but I saw it as a refreshing change of direction. And what I enjoyed about the plot was the semi-serious look it took at modern issues regarding marriage, parenthood, and even America's outlook on the Middle East. There was much less nudity this time around, but some of the jokes were a lot funnier. And while the movie may not be to everyone's liking, it certainly knows how to please it's devoted fans, and I found it in some respects to be better than the first movie. PS. I'm a guy, and before you assume it, no I'm not gay
Bandwagon haters can't, or at least shouldn't stop the fun (by GianisRex19)
OK - so Sex and the City 2 isn't rocket science, is this something we are just figuring out? I am only compelled to review this movie because I noticed that most of the negative reviews center around the same fundamental principles and they are: a The movie does not take place in NYC from start to finish boo hoo . b The movie is not PC when it comes to women's stereotypes and the sexually-repressed Middle East boo hoo . c and the movie was too "over-the-top" with regards to fashion and people's living of their lives again, boo-freaking-hoo .What has made the Sex <more>
and the City franchise so good in the past and what drives millions to watch it is essentially three major principles - friendship, sex-love-romance, and fun, and SATC2 mixes all three together again in a package that is as bizarre, over-the-top did you SEE the gay wedding?? , and tongue-and-cheek as it is funny, and it IS funny. As promised, the producers of "2" let the story follow a romp of comedy, and while some of it is so high-brow it may annoy us typical "9 to 5'ers" who scrape from paycheck to paycheck to make ends meet, most is sophomoric and flat-out blatant, especially the thousand or so gay jokes that kick-off the movie and really, never truly stop. The movie is unrealistic, shouldn't be taken seriously, is not going to uncover layers of character fortitude, and will make absolutely no push or argument for an Oscar. It's a stab at comedy through the SATC program that has relied so heavily on sex to sell, and the same holds true for the film. I do not own SATC DVD's, I've seen the show only in passing on HBO and I only watched SATC1 about a year ago on cable. In a day when romantic comedies and chick flicks fall flat on their faces and offer almost nothing of meritous value, both in production and in finished product, SATC2 takes you on a comedic journey and does it lavishly, wasting next to nothing. You'll feel as if the film dumped just as much money on production as it makes you believe it's four principals do as they cavort around their day-to-day lives. Along the way, you get just enough on each character to set you up for what has happened up until now, and where the story will go when it wraps.Again - Gone With the Wind it is not. take it for what it is, let your guard down, and enjoy the movie!
Great movie, a true full feature film version of the series (by mkenyon1978)
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, it was fast paced and truly funny. I must confess that I didn't always like the series, I only really started enjoying it from season 4 onwards and then when the first movie came out I was a little disappointed. I didn't dislike it and even enjoyed it in some parts, but it missed the fun spark that the series had. I mostly put this down to it being too difficult to make a 20 minute comedy/dramady series engaging enough for the big screen. But, with the sequel they had oodles of spark, one of the few times I actually enjoyed the sequel more than the <more>
original. Or could it be, that because the series came first, then the movie and then the sequel, that this actually falls under the "the 3rd installment is almost always nearly as good as the original and waaay better than sequel" rule?
well, I am happy to see the girls, or should i say the ladies, again, no doubt. But when i saw these faces, the walk, the eyes, i can't help to regret that i spend the money for my ticket. THEY ARE REALLY OLD!!!! and yes i know the marriage shouldn't be full of drama, yes, its OK that there are no real stories behind the movie, but these small things with carrie and big... its killing me... that is BORING! otherwise charlotte turns out pretty funny, for the first time. i don't think i remember the red head at all, you see, i even cant remember her name! there is nooooooo meaning <more>
of her existence in the movie! and i know everything of the show, so thats not a memory problem! samantha, my darling samantha, i know you want to be yourself again, one of the kind, and a little too much. definitely. thats done.generally i don't want to rate the movie badly, but it also is not good. it is kind of flow, you flow above the storyline without being excited or surprised. sometime i am just watching because of the shoes, well, and this pretty goura ? .....
I took a break yesterday to see SETC2, and I have to say, the reviews have it totally wrong. I thought this movie was great fun, and I actually think it was much more true to the spirit of the series than the first movie. I thought the script was classically well crafted. There were dashes of politics mixed with a Carrie-esquire look at the challenges that arise in maturing relationships, and the whole thing was wrapped in the high-fashion confection we've come to expect from the show. I felt the characters, who had wandered off to weird places in the first movie, were back in fine <more>
form--especially Samantha. There are cornball turns of phrases, insider jokes, and winks and nods, but again, this is all very much in keeping with the original HBO series. If you're expecting Fellini, then this ain't the flick for you. But you should have already had 10+ years to figure that out. If you want an eye-popping 2-1/2 hour joy ride with some old friends, then go plunk your money down worry free.
