This is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Eric Freeman is such a bad actor it is laughable. the way he moves his eyebrows when he talks is priceless. there is a scene in which Ricky is walking down the street that is worth the rental fee or buying it. i don't want to spoil it you have to see it for yourself. there are so many lines in this movies that you will remember forever. Ricky is a character you will never forget and is played brilliantly bad by Eric freeman. i don't want to spoil all the funny scenes in this movie. the bottom line is Silent Night Deadly Night 2 is <more>
hilarious and if you are in the mood for a funny cheesy 80's horror film this is perfect for you. 10/10
Silent Night Deadly Night is the funniest movie ever made. It is so funny and full of wall to wall laughs. It is sort of like the recent comedic masterpiece Cop Out with Bruce Willis making a new best friend in Tracy Morgan. It's not as good in comedic value as Kevin Kline in Dave, which chronicled the story of the greatest President who ever lived. My favorite character is Ricky who decides it would be fun to go on a kill rampage through his neighborhood. The best moment of the film is where Ricky yells Garbage day to a unsuspecting neighbor before shooting him. Eric Freeman is probably <more>
the best actor ever. He's almost as good as Daniel Day Lewis in the classic film "Gangs of New York" and "There will be Blood". I love all the grisly little scenes. Ricky is a comedic God. I feel I'm like at the Knotsberry farm of laughter. Garbage Day! -Lord Bullingdon
WARNING: Some plot spoilers ahead...This film has various mistakes and errors...but it's also so over the top that it's quite enjoyable for a small percentage of viewers. I wouldn't exactly call it a scary horror movie in the least, it has more of a 80's era cult quality to it.I love the first Silent Night, Deadly Night movie. This sequel uses a good 40+ minutes of flashbacks from that original film. Perhaps the only film I remember that used so much footage from an original was in Ulli Lommel's "Boogeyman II". Much of the footage used in Silent Night, Deadly <more>
Night Part 2 is condensed and at times heavily edited for time and pace. Sometimes it works and sometimes it fails completely. The producers who wanted this sequel made explicitly wanted it to be a recut of the first film. The original film was cut from circulation soon after it's release due to a backlash of "Santa Can't Kill!" protests. So, a lot of people didn't even get to see the first film until TV and video years later. This sequel works better if you haven't already seen the first film. I'd much rather watch the original movie than the early recut scenes that are mostly shown in the first half of this sequel. But I do enjoy the latter half of this sequel that uses entirely new footage. In think Eric Freeman did a spectacular job as "Ricky". The way he performed the lines was classic, and who could forget his constant eyebrow movements with each line? It was way over the top and it worked perfectly for a killer that was clearly out of his mind.A few other memorable things that I remember from the movie were the Umbrella death scene, and the all time "Garbage Day!" kill line. There are quite a few continuity errors throughout the movie. A big error that really couldn't be prevented was the Mother Superior flashbacks, and then the new footage of Mother Superior played by another actress without the French-type accent. The new actress also had a disfigured face with makeup to try to make it tougher to tell that it's a different person playing the role. But we never learn why her face looks so grotesquely disfigured. If you watch the VHS/Laserdisc editions you can also see quite a few minor mistakes Dolly Tracks, etc. because the film was presented in open-matte and not properly letterboxed.Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 is a guilty pleasure that the majority of viewers hate. I can understand why, but for some reason I enjoy the film...even with it's many shortcomings. Anyways, it made money and spawned 3 more questionable sequels in the franchise!
A great gut-busting piece of exquisitely awful seasonal slasher schlock (by Woodyanders)
This divinely cruddy and cut-price cheapo sequel to the notorious '84 sicko Santa slice'n'dice classic uses copious stock footage from the first flick to pad out 40 minutes of its tight 88 minute running time. Fortunately, the newly shot stuff about the evil psychotic exploits of Billy's equally unhinged brother Ricky Caldwell outrageously overplayed with deliciously dreadful hammy brio by Eric Freeman boasts several uproariously ludicrous murder set pieces: Folks are killed in such preposterous ways as impalement on umbrella, electrocution with jumper cables, and <more>
strangulation with a car antenna. Moreover, this perfectly putrid picture reaches its gloriously gaga apex with the now legendary suburban street slaughter sequence "Garbage day!" . James L. Newman acquits himself well as wannabe helpful shrink Dr. Henry Bloom, the ever-luscious Elizabeth Kaitan looks smoking hot as Ricky's yummy girlfriend Jennifer Statson, and Jean Miller sports some pathetically unconvincing grotesque make-up as the stern and ruthless Mother Superior. Better still, Freeman really lets it all hang out as Ricky: With his insanely twitchy eyebrows, ridiculous deep maniacal chortle, wildly grimacing facial expressions, and hysterical line readings, Freeman's supremely broad and unrestrained over-the-top histrionics are an absolute sidesplitting riot to watch. Lee Harry's slapdash mis direction, the paltry script, Harvey Genkins' sloppy cinematography, the faulty continuity, plenty of priceless atrocious dialogue all-time favorite line: "Naughty this!" , a wickedly twisted sense of pitch-black humor, and Michael Armstrong's gratingly redundant score all further enhance this honey's considerable tacky charm. A hilariously horrendous hoot and a half.
Ricky follows in the family footsteps of Billy and the Santa Claus Killing continues. Ricky is in a mental institution and tells the doctor of his past killing. Running over someone with a tractor, sticking an umbrella through someone and opening it. Some nice gore, and then Ricky escapes and on the streets again with a gun. The famous lines of " NAUGHTY" "PUNISH" with a gun Ricky shots down innocent by standers. The first two are the best in the series and the following start to slide pretty badly. Worth a watch but not as good as the original with Billy slicing and <more>
I dunno that I'd call SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT 2 an actual movie. Half the runtime's spent on flashback footage from the first movie, leaving maybe 45 minutes of actual sequel stuff. You've gotta admit, that's pretty flippin' lazy. So the reason this rating isn't any higher is because of the long slog through low-grade '80s slasher flick. Although it does tickle me that, since they didn't have enough footage to make the movie's total length, they padded the end credits out to 10 minutes. Oh man . . .But I'll freely admit that the "GARBAGE <more>
DAY!" Internet meme is what brought me here, and that's where we get into the really juicy bad stuff.. This is a shoddy movie, but it's Eric Freeman's terrible line deliveries and possessed facial expressions that'll leave you in a fit of giggles. When he goes on the suburban rampage, things don't just shift into higher gear, they go to light speed. I can't give that guy enough credit; his awful performance saves this whole thing. Getting right down to it, there's maybe 20 minutes' worth of movie here, and it's all his scenes. I'd buy this movie just to skip to his parts. Seriously, if Anchor Bay can release a version of this movie with just his scenes I can see it now, "The Freeman Cut" , you'd have a trim-the-fat, guaranteed to please short movie on your hands.I've seen TROLL 2, and he puts that movie to shame. It is glorious.9 Freemans/10
I was told by a lot of people not to see this one because it is all just flashbacks of the first one. While the first 35 minutes are flashbacks, with the gore mostly cut out. The last hour or so is so worth it!!. This movie is so freaking funny, I almost whizzed myself a bunch of times. The first one is great, but it is not nearly as funny. This is mostly due to the fact that Robert Brian Wilson shows no emotion and takes himself too seriously in the role of Billy. He tries to hard to be psycho. Eric Freeman who plays Ricky in #2 is hilarious and makes the last hour spectacular. It is almost <more>
like he realizes how corny this concept is and he just has fun with it. He does not take himself seriously at all. His facial expressions and delivery of lines are so over the top, it is great. Plus with line like "Garbage Day!" are hilarious when you see him deliver it and then kill someone. All though I have to say the funniest part is his girlfriend, when she realizes he is going after her. All she can say is "Oh no!", with no emotion in her voice or on her face. Just because of the last hour, I have to say that this is a very worthy sequel.
So bad it's great. Terrible acting, terrible writing, shoddy cinematography all add up to a barrel of laughs. PUNISH! The main actor is fantastic and does give off the aura of a demented madman. The fact they just used so much footage from part 1 really took some balls and I think they need to be applauded for this. the climax of the film is so insane. When the cop stops him and says "no funny business I know how to use this" referring to the gun he has pointed at the madmans head, the scene just cuts and somehow the gun has been turn on the cop and shoots him. But the number 1 <more>
reason to watch this film is what happens after this. All I'm saying is "garbage day!"
Now before anyone jumps me for saying that, I'd like to point out a few facts. Firstly, yeah half the movie is clips from the first one, but at the time Silent Night, Deadly Night 1 was pretty much banned, so the powers that be originally wanted the director to just re-cut part 1 and call it part 2. But the writer & director did one better than that adding in 40 minutes of their own sheer lunacy. So you get the best parts from part 1 give or take a funny scene , AND you get 40 NEW minutes of hilarious B-movie cheese. Secondly, it's highly quotable. Heck, i yell "Garbage <more>
Day??!!" to my friends from time to time. It's only funnier that they never saw this film & have no clue what I'm talking about Thirdly...oh i could go on. Just take my word for it, it's great high body count mega-cheese.My Grade: 4 out of 5 bloody machetes
