great psychological thriller (by vijaysurendran-43093) |
Acting by Guy Pierce and Pierce brosnan is top notch .. kind of slow burn but never a boring moment in the movie nor any cliche sub par acting or dialogues ... story is about a philisophy professor who has a history of destructive behaviour .. who also suffers from split personality disorder ... you are constantly making up in your mind whether you think the protagonist is guilty or not and kept in suspense till the end .. this movie is a big thumbs up from me .. |
You will sit till the end at the edge of the seat, and you mind will work like a clock. (by impaktvisual) |
Rare kind today. Definetely worth watching! Go and watch it! Good deep story. And well executed. I don't understand why it has so low reviews, it is so rare diamond today. I'm no lover of mystery movies but this one is really good. One of the best I've seen so far. And I've seen some. I believe you would be dissapointed if you seek a cliche that is dull and typical. Real believable characters and very entertaining at the same time, and makes your brain itch. As the story unfolds you question yourself not only who and why did it, but what the truth and reality really are, and <more> |
What Tight Arses Write Reviews??? (by dgrozier) |
It's well written Excellently acted Psychological thriller. The tight wad incel millennials who write the reviews have had no lives. Stuff happens. People drink. It gets messy. This is a movie. It's supposed to be dramatic. Packed full of goodies. I just can't get over the nimrods in the reviews. Go and get laid you wowzers. 10 DG's to balance out the crap scores. |
A really good movie if you feel like thinking. (by sevenhorseshoes) |
I'll watch Pierce and Guy in anything. The fact they are in this movie together was a no-brainer. If you're looking for explosions, car chases and fights, this movie isn't for you. If you want a film that explores what we can know and how frail individuals and relationships can be, this is a great example. The action in a movie like this is found in the multi-faceted micro-expressions on the actors faces. Interpreting them is what makes Spinning Man so compelling. This is how movies are supposed to be made and how we can participate most as an audience. The acting is superb and the <more> |
EXCELLENT ALL AROUND MOVIE - SIMILAR TO REAL MYSTERY MOVIES OF THE PAST (by DreamyOneNumber1) |
We very much enjoyed Spinning Man for a variety of reasons. It's a well written psychological mystery which plays a philosophy professor's search for ultimate truth against that of a detective's desire to solve a crime. It reminded us of the thrillers/mysteries of the past because it didn't rely on action scenes and special effects, so it was more realistic and easy to get into. There's more to this movie than it appears at first glance, and we admit to going back and watching parts of it a second time to enjoy the parallels. All the actors are well suited to their roles. <more> |
A great psychodrama that breaks new ground. (by eherberman) |
In countless stories, villains hide their crimes. In countless others, innocents are framed. But is there a third possibility? Once your life has come unglued from truth, can you begin to doubt your own memories? What is fantasy? What is alibi? What is genuine recollection? This possibility is intriguingly explored in the novel, The Spinning Man by George Harrar, and in this movie. Let this film get under your skin, and you may begin to second-guess your own inner life. Those fantasies-they were just fantasies, weren't they? |
The Philosophy of Truth (by d.rust) |
Truth is a perception, dependent on the subjective view of the observer and coloured by time and memory.Evan is a professor of philosphy at a run-of-the-mill college with sparsely attended classes punctuated by infatuated young women who are easily swayed by his charm and logical arguments. His life is turned upside down when an investigation starts into the disappearance of a young woman. What proceeds is an examination of what goes through Evan's mind when the accusations begin, whether it is insinuation by Brosnan's character or the quiet dread of his wife Ellen, played by Minnie <more> |
Incident at Hillside Lake (by lavatch) |
"Spinning Man" is a neo-noir film that evolves into a suspenseful cat-and-mouse game between a philosopher professor, Evan Birch Guy Pearce , and a seasoned detective, Robert Malloy Pierce Brosnan . The professor is a specialist in the philosophy of language, and one of the intriguing parts of the film is the philosophical banter between the professor and the detective, who has a law degree and is clearly a skilled debater, as well as a savvy investigator.According to the behind-the-scenes segment of the DVD, the film was based on a real event that inspired George Harrar 's <more> |
Nice psycological thriller/drama (by tokyooo) |
I don't see where all the hate came from! The movie is pretty good, acting was great and it's ending had a purpose. Many reviewers complain how it leads nowhere, but I think that's the whole point! All in all, I liked it! A lot! I would recoment it to those who like the movies which engage the audience, not just throw stuff at it! |
