It kept me entertained throughout, the script was very clever, taking you down unexpected routes. It gave you an insight into human behaviour when in a life or death situation, some of it very unexpected. There was also an appropriate level of humour at the right time and a good balance of insight into some of the central characters. It was also very refreshing to see a broad mix of characters with different levels of abilities, this isn't something you see very often. It left a lasting impression, which is what you want from a film and you were able to interpret the meaning of it in <more>
different ways. The ending left you wanting more and to find out more. The soundtrack was also very good and complemented the film perfectly. This is a must see film!
The school, the house and the prison are safe (by clive666)
I was well impressed by this film and look forward very much to the sequel very entertaining kept me watching throughout excellent acting considering the different levels of actors i was nicely surprised how well this worked with the script. i highly recommend this as a must watch probably the best film I've seen in a long long time. it was funny and gory at the same time but no cheesy special effects the directions where just perfect camera work was also good and refreshing and the sound track was just about spot on to go with the film. i will deferentially be adding this to my DVD <more>
collection. The school, the house and the prison are safe. Follow the arrows or you will die. Stay on the path or you will die. If you're lapped twice, you will die. If you step on the grass, you will die..
Ignore all the haters please! (by ihearthorrorfilm)
The first thing you need to know about this film is that it is low- budget, funded by a kickstarter project and it doesn't have a single person in it that is known in the movie world. That being said, this film is a brilliant indie that deserves to be in the spot-light. Smart, creative, well-made and seriously dark and disturbing, The Human Race restores my faith in filmmaking and the movie industry. Although this film is not for the film-goer who can only see films with bloated budgets and celebra-whores, the movie goers that do appreciate a film that takes risks and takes the honest yet <more>
disturbing route of displaying characters in ways that you're definitely not use to seeing, you will love and appreciate this film as much as I did. This film takes the classic Battle Royale storyline and pulls it deeper into the horror genre by showing a much darker side of the survival of the fittest as well as creating imagery that borders on comic book fantasy. Setting aside the awesome storyline and the genius way in which the film tells the tale, the director/writer respectfully showcases characters that are disabled yet are the strongest competitors and yet are also the weakest. I am in serious awe of this film and I hope others will enjoy it and see it for what it is as much as I do.Please like me on Facebook! Great story that flows quickly, and logically with a great cast. (by face-819-933726)
So if you like the Saw movies, The Descent films, or even Death Race, well it's all there, well as a lot of other great stuff that you have never seen before. This is such a great movie for the 50 Dollars that it must have cost to make, surprisingly it really looks like a movie you should be paying to see. The story is fantastic, and logical, and flows very well. This cast is just great. It has a really good use of flashbacks to get us quickly into these characters lives, and minds. There are other movies that this reminds me of, but telling you would really spoil the ending. I Enjoyed <more>
the action, the over all pacing, the drama, the story, and the direction was excellent. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes a bit of murder with a sci-fi twist. But there is so much more here than you will be expecting.
Was a bit dubious as this had been labelled as a rip off of king/bachmans short story 'the long walk' but I was pleasantly surprised to find a decent stand alone movie with some strong performances and a half decent twist at the end. Yes OK, it is based on a similar outline to the king short story but that's where the similarities stop, first ten minutes had me hooked...didn't see the first death coming, but in a way was glad it happened that way, left you wondering which way the movie was going to go. Wasn't really quite sure why the school, house and prison where safe, <more>
safe from what? but hey, its just one of those things that washes over you. the last 2 characters put a strong performance throughout the whole movie, its a shame that one of them wont make it to the second movie!, all in all a decent horror/sci-fi, enough twists turns and pace to keep you interested from start to finish.
"Only one will win. The School, The House and The Prison are safe. Follow the arrows or you will die. Stay on the path or you will die. If you are lapped twice, you will die. Do not touch the grass or you will die. Race or die." If that doesn't make u wanna watch whats coming next, then i don't know what will. I'm in the belief that the most important part of a movie would be in the first 10-15 minutes... cos that's when u know whether u wanna stay for the rest of it. "Human Race" grabbed my attention from minute 1 via the above quote. And after watching <more>
the movie, i just have 2 words to say: FREAKIN' AWESOME!!! In my opinion, better than recent movies of a similar nature, i.e. hunger games, the condemned, and about just as awesome as the Japanese cult classic "Battle Royale". I have to admit that as I was watching I couldn't help but wonder what the ending would be like, and I was afraid that it would fall flat and ruin a perfectly breathtaking movie. But it didn't... and suffice to say I was satisfied with the way it was done. Some people may disagree, but hey, everyone's entitled to an opinion. So give "Human Race" a view. I highly recommend it.
A very bold start, killing off the seemingly main character after showing her back-story withing the first 15 minutes, had me hooked straight away. After watching seemingly endless high budget badly acted horror/fantasy movies, it was refreshing to see a lower budget take on the genre so thoughtfully and well acted. Trista Robinson was especially outstanding as the deaf woman, and I can imagine seeing a lot more of her gracing the silver screen in the future. The concept and genre of the movie, a nod to Stephen Kings, The Long Walk, but no more than a nod, as the story takes a nice twist of <more>
its own could easily have fell into a cliché'd, predictable rut, like so many others have. But not The Human Race, its has enough twists, tension, excellent pacing and great acting to make what could turn out to be a popular movie through-out 2014 and beyond, as I feel it will also prove to be a successful slow burner and show up on many peoples cult classic lists in years to come.
Was quite surprised to stumble upon this little gem of a film. It has themes reminiscent of Battle Royale and the Running man, although with some intriguing character development and entertaining twists. For a lower budget film, I was impressed with the caliber of acting talent. There are some tense moments in the film which I believe the actors pulled off rather well. Believable anxiety in an unbelievable situation. Lots of lower budget films hold no interest for me, but this particular film held me to the edge of my seat actually rooting for certain characters. It was a little confusing in <more>
the beginning, but part of the point of the movie is to keep you guessing. The direction, the camera work, and the music were all above par for a lower budget film as well. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys a good sci/fi thriller.
The Human Race is certainly a low budget film but it is actually pretty good. I know there have been a lot of divergent reviews here but some of the negative reviews leave me a little puzzled. This film has won a couple of awards so it can't be as bad as some are saying. With that being said here is my review.I love some good splatter films and The Human Race does not disappoint. Granted sometimes the deaths seem a bit over the top but still it's good to see they put some good scenes in here. The acting ranges from solid to so-so but the main characters give good performances. Eddie <more>
McGee and Trista Robinson give solid performances and are as good as any other actors in any other horror movie you can mention. The directing and camera work are good and there are some interesting scenes that pop out throughout the film. There are a few slow moments in the film but overall it moves along at a good pace the whole film is only about an hour and a half long .Overall this is a solid horror/sci-fi film and deserves a look.
