I didn't quite know what to expect when I walked into the theater to watch the movie of one of my favorite cartoons. Nickelodeon has a really nasty habit of "big-budgtizing" movies of their shows changing the look, etc. . However this is not the case with SpongeBob. Whew, one less thing to worry about.Next was the story. Could Steve Hillenburg live up to what had been laid down by the series? Yes. Basically it's like watching a 1 1/2 hour episode of SpongeBob and who couldn't like that . Lot's of visual gags and typical Sponge brainless-ness. I was quite <more>
impressed. If you're a SpongeBob fan, you'll love this movie. If you're not, eh, watch it anyways, it'll do you good ;- .
I've read some of the extremely negative comments on this film, and I'm surprised. I thought it was cute, funny, and imaginative, with some well-timed dramatic effects when they cross the county line, the final fate of the woman with ice cream, ... . It even had a Ween song.If you're curious about the film, I urge you to see it for yourself, and don't be dissuaded by the negative reviews.BTW, to provide some background, I come from the 'sappy Simpsons cra**y Simpsons' school, and I used to love Ren and Stimpy until Bill Camp took over.My wife and I both really liked <more>
Take the funniest things about Spongebob Squarepants wacky-anarchist environment and extremely funny animated drawings and make it an hour-and-a-half long. It's non-stop laughs and plenty of color and all-out craziness. Spongebob and Patrick go off-model so much that it's an eyegasmic delight for the cartoon maniacs out there.Sooo many entertaining moments. It's literally a laugh-a-minute film... lots of stuff that flies right over the kiddies' heads. The one thing I didn't like about the movie - the character Mindy King Neptunes princess daughter . She didn't fit in <more>
well with the rest of the character designs - she looks more like a character you would've seen on the Daria animated series. Also keep an eye out for the big sea creatures' wrestlin' scene with the evil diver... such smooth and precise animation of so many characters at once that I just sat there in pure awe.
Spongebob Squarepants has always been a funny, clever cartoon show for kids, but the movie now gives the whole family a chance to see the brilliance of Stephen Hillenburg's Spongebob Squarepants. The movie is a sequel to the Spongebob Squarepants TV Series.Watch out for: Dennis the Assassin, played by Alec Baldwin Mindy the Mermiand, Daughter of King Neptune Scarlett Johansson and an appearance by David Hasselholf as himself. Also look out for all the character in the series: including; Mrs. Puff, Sandy Cheeks, Larry the lobster and Karen the computer wife. And listen to some new <more>
funny songs and Goofy Goober Peanut. In the movie there are well thought out jokes, clever twists, a good plot and Spongebob evens sings a rock solo at the end of the movie...Not to be missed.
Forgive me... I thought it was terrific. (by jacktreese1)
My nephew is a big fan of SpongeBob Squarepants, so I popped this in to entertain him one day, and I gotta tell you, I was amazed by the actual quality that this kids feature has to offer.Basically, after SpongeBob's boss, Mr. Krabs, is accused of stealing the king's crown, SpongeBob and his dumb but lovable friend Patrick Star go on a quest to retrieve it.Most of the humor is enough to amuse the kids that this film was targeted at. However, there was also the humor that goes way over kids' heads, but even adults can appreciate it without being disgusted of watching children's <more>
movies.Overall, even if you're not a fan of the show at all, check it out. It's humor that isn't too dumb for adults, but not too smart for kids. And, you never know... maybe it'll make you appreciate the show more. That's what it did for me. But then again, that's just me, and I'm just weird.
Truly hilarious. A must-see for any SpongeBob fan. (by CartoonKing2)
In this theatrical animated film based on Nickelodeon's mega-hit animated TV show "SpongeBob SquarePants", SpongeBob wants to be the manager of the new Krusty Krab 2. But when Mr. Krabs gives the job to Squidward, SpongeBob gets very sad and depressed. Meanwhile, Mr. Krabs's rival Plankton steals King Neptune's crown and frames Mr. Kabs for the crime. Neptune freezes Mr. Krabs, and if SpongeBob and Patrick don't return the crown within 6 days Neptune will kill Mr. Krabs. This movie was if you ask me the best movie based on a Nicktoon. It truly captures the greatness <more>
of the show "SpongeBob SquarePants" and delivers some of the funniest Patrick Star moments yet. I loved the ending scene where SpongeBob sang "Goofy Goober Rock", a parody of Twisted Sister's "I Wanna Rock". And David Hasslehoff's guest appearance was very humorous. The animation was superb, the voice actors were as great as they were on the show, and the script was hilarious. I actually almost cried when I first watched this film. The scene where SpongeBob and Patrick were getting dried up was very sad.Overall, I highly recommend this film. Not just to SpongeBob fans, but to anyone with a good sense of humor. Truly an excellent movie, and the last SpongeBob project with Stephen Hillenburg and the original crew working on it.Rating: 9/10 "Excellent"
Makes me hard everytime I look at it 😛🍆💧💧I screamed like a girl when watching this movie made me fall to my knees with such pleasure
They left out too many characters from the series! (by Sherazade)
Okay, where were Mrs. Puff, Plankton, Pearl and even Sandy who got a blink and you'll miss it cameo? I didn't like the substituting of beloved characters for Hollywood fluff like Scarlett Johansson, David Hasselhoff and Alec Baldwin just to name a few. Now I liked Scarlett as the princess and daughter of King Neptune, who enlists the help of Spongebob who is smitten with her and Patrick to go in search of her father's stolen crown, not only because it was Scarlett voicing the role, but because her screen-time theft wasn't as annoying as say David Hasselhoff! It's the <more>
rest I had a problem with but at least they managed to make me laugh which kept me from complaining at least during the film. This movie was much more darker than the Nicktoon and had more sexual innuendos too so you might not want your tiny tots seeing this side of Spongebob.
So good as the TV- show (by Rectangular_businessman)
This movie was good enough. I like a lot "Spongebob Squarepants". I think that it's a funny and very well written show, good for children and adults as well. This movie makes justice to the show, being funny and clever. The Only thing that I didn't liked were some musical number, but even those musical numbers felt to forced or annoying. According to Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of Spongebob, this movie is the ending of the series, and I think that it was a pretty decent ending. This it's a pretty decent film for children and even when this isn't a masterpiece, it <more>
still worth a look. If you like the TV show, then you will like a lot this as well.
