Movie of the summer, a must watch for everyone! (by jessicaconnor) |
Not for anyone who doesn't like jokes about sex or cringe worthy sex scenes. For everyone else, this is a must see film. True to the experience of teenagers, blindingly sincere and genuine, refreshingly told with real characters, experiences and enough comedy to be enjoyable for anyone. Also, and don't let this be a turn off, but it is also EDUCATIONAL. It talks about a serious subject in an incredibly non-serious way. It flips traditional gender roles and expectations, but it isn't the focus of the film. Highly recommended. I laughed my head off. I liked it so much I specifically <more> |
Captures the spirit of the early 90's the way Fast Times and Ridgemont High did of the 80s! (by carrot_handvo) |
I was so very impressed by this film. I went in expecting a fun comedy but what we are given is so much more. First off every frame of this film sets you in the 90s. It really took me back. and in a genuine rich way. Not just in slight little references, but situations you would generally find yourself in because of the current technology or ways of thinking.I saw this film around noon on a Monday and to my surprise it was packed. People laughing at every scene, which warranted it so. Every second of this film just makes you happy. It's a slice of life that's high on heart and <more> |
Fun movie with lots of laughs (by kbblock) |
This movie is a rare breed. Movies about sexual coming of age for women are few and far between. This movie does have a super-bad flair with funny moments and genuine dialog. The movie made me laugh a lot. I especially like how they explained the virgin whore complex so well and used it to make lots of jokes. I also enjoyed the wide variety of actors and actresses with different view points. The pool manager was endearing and the 90's style was very fun for those of us who grew up in the 90's. I enjoyed Aubrey Plaza's transition from up tight to a rebel and back to a balance of <more> |
Just good ol' fun for non-prudes (by OpinionatedJM) |
Excellent fun movie, just great entertainment from a perspective hardly ever seen from Hollywood, I hope it gets a bigger bang from word of mouth than it did at the box office, I was surprised that it had such few viewers! hopefully because of the cast more people will pick it up! loved the performance, only thing that stopped me from giving it a full 10 was that they had to play it like she was just.. "studying" instead of being gratified by the experiences, but that was the only thing that seemed to pull off any punches although yeah it's more likely to be that way for a young <more> |
You can never have TMI when you are trying to learn new skills. (by face-819-933726) |
Funny! This whole movie is just TMI of the best kind. From top to bottom this is handled very well. Like what the Joy of sex was attempting to do back in the real time that this movie is set in. Plaza is such a great actor, you can almost believe she's still a teen. There are great cameos by actors that you are very familiar with, and the rest of the players are all to be remembered, as this movie will be. You have another Super Bad or American Pie here. The first half of the movie is so 90210, then the last half goes off the rails only to be better than it was. Your jaw will drop at <more> |
Never laughed so hard (by ilovewwe94) |
This has to be one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. It is almost like Easy A but ten times more raunchy. The movie is about a high school graduate named Brandy who has no experience in sex what so ever. She meets Rusty who she wants to have sex with but wants to build up her cred first. She makes the "To Do List" in which she does different sexual things with any guy who is willing. It is easily one of the most funny movies I've seen. It's mostly for people who enjoy sexual humor because that is obviously the whole movie. It is also set in the 1990's <more> |
This may be the filthiest teen comedy ever, and it's awesome! (by AdamBowl23) |
I didn't know what to expect going into seeing this one. I actually never even saw a trailer for it, but I read the synopsis and saw the impressive cast list and that was enough to get me interested. Even getting to the parking lot I asked my buddy if the movie was rated R and he said yes, and I was ensured of this as the movie started and "Me So Horny" by 2 Live Cru started playing during the opening credits. The movie takes place in 1993 and is about a recent high school grad who decides she needs to explore her sexuality and makes a "to do" list of all the things <more> |
Add this to your 'To Do List' this summer! (by janmejay-vyas) |
I was eagerly waiting to watch this movie ever since I first watched its trailer. Thankfully, I was able to catch a screening last Thursday and I can safely say it did not disappoint. The To Do List starring Aubrey Plaza and directed by Maggie Carey is a fine coming of age story of a teenage girl minus any drama whatsoever. It's not something which is new but the difference being in the execution. Brandy Klark Aubrey Plaza is a teenager who just finished with her high school and is about to enter college. She is a straight-A getter and an overachiever at school but isn't a favorite <more> |
Rude, funny, and rather sweet (by neil-476) |
Overachiever and socially awkward high school graduate Brandy is convinced that she needs to arrive at college with much more sexual experience than she has at present, which is none. So she approaches this in the same way she approaches her schoolwork, by setting out her goals in the form of a list of objectives to be tick-boxed.As a 61 year old British man, this raunchy US teenage girl sex comedy should have set my teeth on edge. I watched this in a nearly empty British cinema, and it really hit the mark with two young women who clearly identified with every gag in it. And it made me laugh <more> |
