Brilliant Animation...A Great Escape For Kids And Adults Alike! (by rjwill20)
I was lucky enough to get tickets to a preview of this film last week. I also initially wondered why they would copy Madagascar which I didn't find very good ...I came away with the realization that it's a very different and way better movie with only the basic premise bearing somewhat of a resemblance not unlike many kid's films and the "formula" that seems to be used .I found the film hilarious and had a great time watching my kids get such a kick out of it as well. The animation is absolutely incredible and this was a great escape for me and my kids 10 and 7 ...if <more>
I could only get my 7 year old to stop continually quoting Nigel the Koala then all would be well...I read a few reviews which panned this flick. I wondered if they saw the same movie we did and/or why an adult who wants to bring a kid for a few laughs would listen to some of the negative crap that's been written?! I would suggest that there is many a jaded movie critic out there who may not appreciate this for what it really is perhaps they're taking their own "grown-up" opinions too seriously? ...a kid's flick which just happens to appeal thankfully to the adults who are brought along in tow. Either some of these reviewers have a different political agenda or they're really out of touch with the audience demographics a film like this is geared toward. You watch...You decide...This film was quite simply a blast! We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
A definite keeper ... with great repeat value! (by benoit-3)
The voting pattern on this film is all over the place. Interesting... I guess a lot of people refuse to admit they had a good time at a non-Pixar Disney film, or that they enjoyed a supposed kid film that didn't cater, on the side, to their adult tastes read: a normal appetite for violence, off-colour jokes and bad language but I know I did. I found it all very well made by non-traditional studios and talents from all over the world, including French and English Canada. I found it infinitely less vulgar than, say, "Madagascar", the humour relying on something other than kicks <more>
in the crotch most of the time, and the writing a nice take on "The Lion King". This film also has many in-joke references to other film classics that I only got on a second viewing. All in all, a great movie experience with great writing and art direction. I especially liked the way the story-telling sequence at the beginning turned back into reality and the way some of the scenes resorted to magic realism the festivities of the wildebeests , and a stylization that is a throwback to some of the best Disney animation and maybe a lesson learned from "Ice Age" . The 3-D animation is top-notch and involving and the film's aesthetics are reminiscent in lighting, modeling and cropping of the View-Masters children's subjects of the 50's. And any film that has both Don Cherry as a penguin and Patrick Warburton and William Shatner as wildebeests is a work of genius in my book.
Well.....I thought it was great! (by paholaistiikeri)
Now, I'm an 18 year old male and I took my girlfriend to see it and we both thought it was a fantastic movie. I am getting increasingly annoyed with the amount of people who say that The Wild is a rip off of another movie, it isn't! Madagascar and The Wild are two completely different movies, so what if they're similar? The animation in the Wild was far more better than in Madagascar, the plot was more exciting/funny and all in all it was a great movie.I think this movie is going to get a bad rating because of all the pathetic people complaining about rip offs. Seriously, what is <more>
everyone's problem? Even if it is a rip off, that doesn't affect you in any way, so why complain? I for one rate it above Madagascar and Finding Nemo which some people are comparing it too for some reason *is confused* In the short, it does not deserve the bad reports because it IS a good movie.
You don't have to worry about it being like Madagascar and Nemo (by DavidStodolny)
I went to the Premiere this weekend of THE WILD and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I was concerned about the same thing that everyone else was.Is it going to be like Madagascar mixed with the same theme as Finding Nemo?To my surprise I did not even once think about either of those films while I was watching THE WILD. There were some great jokes and gags and it had the pacing of a good action film. This movie is nothing like either of those movies. I encourage everyone to see this movie for themselves and am curious what they think of it. There is a couple plot holes and weak story <more>
points. But other than those few moments it's a fun film to watch. The look is refreshing because it doesn't look like every other CG feature in the world. My final statement is this. Kids will absolutely love it. And the parents will be entertained and won't be bored.
I saw this movie and it was awesome! the effects blow "Finding Nemo" and "Shrek" away....from the shot of the city down to the hairs on the animals, every detail was carefully looked over...Eddie Izzard's character is so funny and the humor is really grown up and campy.....i didn't think there were any lulls in the storyline and the movie went by almost too quickly...We brought 2 kids with us 2 & 3 and here were some scary pars the 3 year old covered his eyes by himself at one point but they really enjoyed the movie....when i asked them what i thought they <more>
High-Fived me and told me they liked Samsone...too cute!My bf and i are gonna see it again when it comes out with a bunch of our friends...WE LOVED IT!!
Reading these reviews I'm not sure we've all seen the same movie. I really liked it, the story was simple but I wanted to see something uncomplicated and it was good for an animation movie. I especially enjoyed the visual aspects of this movie. I've seen it in a hd version at home and I was stunned by the quality of the animation, the aliveness of the motions. The ugly pigeons, the psychedelic elements in the end... The animators did a great job, I haven't seen such a good animation ever, but then again it's the first animation in hd I saw... If you like to have a relieve <more>
from forces plot twists and just wanna feel young again and enjoy some top notch animated animals talk go see this movie.
Citizen Kane it is not. Nor is it Madagascar, thankfully. It seems to be doing really well with critics, for what it is. A fun, great. family film that with awesome graphics and enough adult humor to keep the everyone in the family happy. I think Disney are on the right track with this kind of film. Not every release needs to be in the pixar mold. There should be room in animation for different styles/themes etc. If there are similarities in "The Wild" to other films well, thats hardly new. Can't wait to see it again. Hopefully it does really well. The look of the film is fresh <more>
and exciting enough to stand up to the majority of other releases. It should be an interesting race in the box office this easter.
I normally try to avoid audiences full of screaming children, but I let my defenses down yesterday and went to see this. I barely noticed the kids. The movie is terrific. However, the makers of Madagascar should sue. It is virtually the same movie; it is, however, superior in every aspect. The animation is terrific and the voice performances are outstanding. Kiefer Sutherland gives a performance that is completely unlike Jack Bauer in 24. His voice is soft and warm and almost unrecognizable. I adore Eddie Izzard as the koala. I have never liked Richard Kind very much but he's very funny <more>
here. And Samson's "instincts" in the wild? Very, very clever. See it, but if you can't tolerate screaming children, see it late at night.
Its sad that this movie will not be able to escape the inevitable comparisons to Madgascar, especially being that it is far more original. Luckily though, it can easily be said with 100% confidence that it comes out on top in virtually every way.Going into the theater I tried to keep an open mind about the movie, and I came out of the movie wanting to go right back in.Eddie Izzard as Nigel the Koala was who I expected to steal the show but much to my surprise I found myself loving Benny the Squirrel Jim Belushi even more. Eddie clearly had a lot of fun with his ad-libbed lines, but the <more>
animators clearly had a lot more fun animating the spastic movements of a squirrel. The effects are GORGEOUS. One cannot help but feel iffy when seeing clips or screen shots, as the designs don't look like they can express much emotion, but when you see them in action it is amazing.I highly recommend this film to anyone who has an interest in children's movies. The only complaint I have is that its too short.
