first of all i am a big fan of this series and eagerly waiting for this part.movie is nothing different to offer at all. As its all about blood and gore. the story continues from the last part and surprisingly the story is gripping and entertaining.the performance wise the actors are okay and better than last part.the whole movie is much better than last one.killing are full of blood as expected and killers are amazing. this one is a must watch for the fans of the series.p.s - the movie has some traits of saw series as some killings are not direct traps .
Great movie - don't listen to the people who rate it one star (by gustobrunt)
It really annoys me when I see people on here, on this board and in reviews, slating this film off.Okay, okay, it's not gonna win any Oscars. But it's not a bad horror film considering all the other trash out there masquerading as quality entertainment. How on earth Wrong Turn 5 received 251 at the time of writing this one star ratings is just beyond comprehension. Have these people actually seen a one star rating movie before? I doubt they have. And I would suggest the 251 who rated it one star haven't even seen the actual film!I thought WT5 had a quality cast of basically <more>
unknown actors. It could have been so easy to make Wrong Turn 5 just like all the other Wrong Turns. Teenagers lost, getting killed off one by one. But this film takes us away from the usual setting. The gore and screams are still here, but there's an added dimension to the film which I liked. Credit to the writer and director who decided to make this movie that bit different.Wrong Turn 5 delivered quite well in my view. I liked it a lot. But it really baffles me what people expect from this film. So to address the balance I am giving this movie 10/10.
Not sure why people are giving this movie such a hard time. I thought it was actually really good. When i say "really good", please understand that about 99% of the movies I watch are horror. I like all of the classics..Halloween, Suspiria, Rosemary's Baby, Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horrors jk lol F13th, and on and on..This isn't in that category obviously. Not even close. What it is, however, is a fun and brainless gore fest. Very cool kills, funny in a way. I was a huge fan of the original Wrong Turn and believe it or not, I actually enjoyed the 2nd one more the one with <more>
Henry Rollins and the reality TV show thing..may have been the 3rd one, cant remember . The 4th one had an amazing setting and atmosphere with the snow and asylum yet somehow managed to be one of the worst horror movies I've ever seen. I saw the trailer for WT5 on youtube and it made this movie look awful. The director or whoever was responsible for the trailer is an idiot because most people will just dismiss the movie based on that. I'm glad I didn't though. Chalk it up to boredom and curiosity on a Thursday night. Bottom line: See the movie if you enjoyed the sequel with Henry Rollins, I apologize for not knowing if it was 2 or 3. Very similar with the cool kills and gross out humor. Accept it for what it is and enjoy.
Fun franchise, improvement on the previous two! (by killmissmarsh)
Let me just start by saying i'm a massive fan of horror franchises. Wrong Turn may not be the best, but it's my guilty pleasure.Personally i hope they continue to make these, they're fun and thus far always contain some good gore and a few cheap laughs! This film is a great improvement on both three, and four. It seems like they've committed a much larger budget to this one than the fourth. There's one or two recognizable names. It does contain some poor acting, but on the whole it's a lot stronger than the acting in the fourth. The kills are a lot better in this one, <more>
one kill in particular was amazing!!! I'd suggest you watch this film if you're a fan of gory horror, you will be satisfied. However if you're looking for a thought provoking film with a high budget, a great story line and solid acting and expect it from this movie, well you're an idiot.
Being a fan of the Wrong Turn series since the first one came out, I was pretty stoked to see this one. The first two movies were great, the 3rd one was decent and the 4th one was pretty awesome. This one is no exception. This actually may be one of my favorites. It's quick paced with tons of gore, which is the way a horror movie should be. Acting was decent and quality good. The story isn't anything new except for that added a "father figure" type character for the killers, who is played by horror icon Doug Bradley. They didn't explain who he was or why he became that <more>
father figure, but who really cares? I didn't. I'm sure if they make a 6th one, which I'm sure they will, it might explain that but if not, it doesn't bother me none. If you're a fan of these movies, I see no reason why you wouldn't enjoy this. It's a fun time.
amazing deaths but unreasonable storyline (by liamstig)
This film had some amazing deaths but just not a reasonable storyline, and the characters never actually tried to fight back like in the first wrong turn movie which is quite annoying but other than that the deaths were so cool, like the harvester ones were extremely good and at the end you wonder what is going to happen to the girl who has had her eyes cut out as you see here get took away at the end. Also the rest of the town just kind of disappears and you wonder where they go. Also you don't see them clean up the bodies which is what the man said they need to do. To be honest the best <more>
wrong turn was the first one. This one probably comes in second because of its extraordinary deaths and if you are a lover of gruesome deaths then this is definitely the film for you. But like i said you wonder how they actually set up any of the deaths in the short time they have.
The best overall "Wrong Turn" followup (by bradleybean86)
I remember the original 'Wrong Turn' well because I saw it in high school and subsequently led to me getting laid. Ahhh, to be young. i'm 26 now Anyhow I have actually seen the other WT movies. I believe the second I initially saw on SyFy terrible I know but was impressed by A How much more exploitative and gory it was throughout and B How does SyFy get away with playing this on daytime weekends relatively uncut. Don't get the wrong impression i'm a gorehound - but i am so used to seeing the splatter scenes stitched together when airing on non-premium cable channels <more>
like SyFy blech Anyways, the production value of this movie SEEMS higher than the others. Wrong turn 2 was good gore but was simply ridiculous. Wrong turn 3 was ridiculous as well and had weird CGI effects if i recall correctly. Wrong Turn 4 I basically fell asleep from boredom after the opening. This Wrong Turn had super gore seemed like a mix of DECENTLY executed cgi mixed with prosthetics, thats the way to do it folks. The hillbillys were more scary than silly and the movie - while lite harded in nature - actually had a more serious tone to it than any of the other sequels. At one point you may actually find yourselves remotely liking or caring about one of the characters. They tried to recapture some of the seriousness of the first film and did as well as they could with what they were given. They changed the setting as well in this film from not JUST the woods only thing worse than 'The Woods' is 'On A Remote Island' -see any number of the 'Zombi' or 'Cannibal Holocaust' films.- Interestingly enough, this movie could easily have been dubbed cannibal holocaust 2 in italy and it would be somewhat accurate. i saw that the turd of a film 'Albino Farm' was A.K.A. wrong turn 2 in another country Anyways, KUDOS for making a sequel that actually improved upon parts 2-4 At least 3 very well executed death scenes. Good ending , crescendo, and closing.
before I get started; be warned that I might let out a spoiler or two in trying to get my point across. This is not my intention at all. Now for my reviewI gotta say that those giving this film a low rating are probably not horror fans at all. They always bitch about the same things. bad acting, bad setting, blah blah blah. So tired of reading the same thing without it actually letting me know anything about the movie itself. Some fan even complained about one of the attractive actresses not showing any skin during what was set up to be a shower scene. I'm kinda actually glad the movie <more>
decided to take a different turn then the played out been there done that shower scene. The film is anything but predictable and it actually sets up the plot when our heroes take an actual wrong turn. This is were the fun starts. The plot is great. "A small West Virginia town is hosting the legendary Mountain Man Festival on Halloween, where throngs of costumed party goers gather for a wild night of music and mischief. But an inbred family of hillbilly cannibals kill the fun when they trick and treat themselves to a group of visiting college students." Now while the rest of the town are celebrating this festival, our remaining residents; which happen to be out would be heroes are left helpless and stranded in a town where the deformed hillbillies cut the power. This is due to the fact that they are gonna try to break out their father figure, Maynard Doug Bradley who plays a great, maniacal father figure of some sort. at the same time; they are gonna get their revenge on the ones responsible for getting him locked up.I've been following the series since part 1. I admit that first two are and always will be the best. Mostly in part because of the actors who have starred in other horror and gore films. Crystal Lowe, Jeremy Sisto etc... Part three was bad, but 4 & now ; especially 5 seems to be breathing life back into the franchise. This is where O Brian decides to have fun with his storyline. As for the gore itself; which is the most important factor in slasher movies, I think they do a pretty damn good job keeping the kills at an interesting level. I; myself am pure old school and I gotta thank Declan O'Brian for totally staying away from CGI; which to me is an abomination to horror and gore. I say keep it with the prosthetics and take it back to the amateurish look of the early 70s and 80s...and that's exactly what this movie does. O'Brian; himself, states that in the DVD film extras. That he wanted to keep it "old school" and I totally got it. From the chopped off finger to the entrails feeding scene I saw some pretty cool Tom Savini school of FX tricks in there. Furthermore; O'Brian opted for using real animal guts and pieces of meet to give it a more realistic scene. One can totally appreciate this in the " giant lawnmower" scene. My one "beef"; would be that the deformed Hillbillies; themselves were not particularly menacing. The masks, looked more like something from a thrift store than actual make up. I'm assuming O' Brian is trying to get across the fact that they are still rather young. It's a known fact; that are not so perfect facial feature become more pronounced with age. Taking this into consideration; They look to be around early 20s. Could be college students as well. remember in Part 5 they were just budding teens. The makeup also looked rather odd and not particularly menacing neither. The make up looked best in part 1; which the part were most of them were killed off. This is also the part where they appear to be full grown men. So after careful consideration the toned down make up is actually quite fitting for the storyline. On one last note and I had to add this to see if anyone notices it? The mask of the "Laughing" hillbilly; you know the skinny one with the witch like face, kinda resembles the mask used in "Curtains" I'm not gonna go into details, but if you've seen the movies; which any real horror buff fan has, then just recall the ice skating scene. Creep stuff. With this latest entry in the series; I can barely wait for part 6.Part two was a whole other family. I'm still waiting to the storyline behind their existence. What I'm guessing is that part 5 partly picks off were part 4 left off. Part 6 will probably explain how they came to be under Douge Bradley's care, so I'm pretty sure will see him again as well as the last surviving victim. I love horror movies that set up the next entry in the final scene.I do recommend this part 5 if you are an "Old School" horror fan and If you opt for prosthetics instead of CGI. The old Tom Savini style from "Maniac" and "Prowler". Especially if you like to analyze movies and try to guess the next moves and You will really dig the kills.
Wrong turn 5 isn't a too bad flick, i bought it on DVD a few days ago. It is easily the cheapest looking in the wrong turn series, but the kills are really cool, they start looking a bit fake at the start and i was worried they were going to get worse in terms of fake looking kills, but they just got more brutal and realistic. Doug Bradley stars as the leaders of the hillbilly cannibals and pulled of a creepy character, the cannibals make-ups aren't to bad and look pretty creepy and frightening. The acting isn't amazing but good enough for a horror film like this.Overall if you <more>
enjoy gory flicks or have seen the previous wrong turn films you should check it out i'm glad i bought it !!!!
