I couldn't wait to see this movie, so when i finally did, i loved every minute of it. It followed the story line precisely, which made it even better to watch. Keir O'Donnell Pathology and Mall Cop played a revenge crazed psychopath, who decides to seek revenge on three women, who as kids, humiliated him, causing him to be locked up in a mental hospital. Katheryn Winnick Failure to Launch and Hellraiser 8 , Jessica Lucas 90210, The Covenant and Cloverfield , and Laura Breckenridge Hit and Run and Gossip Girl played the three women, whom the killer targets. Amusement was scary, slick <more>
and smart. It had some inventive murder scenes it in, which is definitely worth watching. It also stars Fernanda Dorogi and Tad Hilgenbrink Lost Boys 2: The Tribe and American Pie: Band Camp . Amusement was released by New Line Cinema.
During this entire movie from start to finish, I was genuinely terrified. The clown segment had me clinging on for my life. I actually have no complaints except that this did not go to theaters. I would've been there opening night. I do not understand how everyone is giving this movie such poor reviews. Also, this movie should not have been rated R. There was almost no violence, absolutely no language, and no sexuality. Anyone over 13 should be okay with seeing this. This is a Blockbuster hit, in my opinion. Definitely worth your money and your time. Watch it during a thunderstorm, it <more>
Laughter That Nightmares Are Made Of (by unemployedvirgin)
Randomly scrolling through "evil clown" related films i came across this, decided to give it a shot for a dark night in..the result was mind twisting! Amusement is an original, sleek and fresh breath of air in this particular genre of horror. The director has to be commended for such good lighting work and choice of backgrounds, it felt like watching a comic book come to life the way shots were angled and so colourfully put together. There's a great cast of fresh faces whom unlike the conventional method of over reacting to a paper cut act out situations the same way a normal <more>
person would react to them. There were a lot of good twists in this movie that really kept you guessing, inter-weaved plots and climactic chapters of events make this picture worth seeing again and again to figure out just what the hell is going on! Soundtrack was brilliant and a few hints of dark comedy really made this a worthwhile watch.I'm surprised at how low this film was rated its like there's a whole nation of 10 year old's with IMDb accounts who have just enough muscle spasm issues to keep 1 starring whatever new feature pops up on here .Conclusion? great film, well shot, eerie storyline and enough psychological mind games to use on the ones you wish death on! 10/10
After watching countless number of horror films, I believe that before I saw this film that I had come to the conclusion that I had seen every formula in this genre that there could possibly be. From slashers, to monsters, to dream manipulators and every possible way to tell and manipulate the story. 'Amusement' has not only shattered that mold that the horror genre has lost itself in but has also single handedly raised the bar for any horror films to come. The whole film is split so that we not only are introduced to each character but also how each girl meets their impending doom... <more>
or so it seems. Each story is unique in its own right, but leaves the viewer to imagine just how all of this will come together. We are given small clues, but there is no way any of us could guess what exactly will happen next.Small holes in the plot are met with sufficient patches, so that we may concentrate on the suspenseful masterpiece of a climax that unfolds after the stories inner twine.I can see how this could be a real love it or hate it type of flick. Yes, Orginality like this is hard to embrace. I guarantee you have never seen one like this before and probably never will - This is truly original cinematic art in horror... and like all great art, some will just not understand it. However, those who are willing to put all their notions of what defines a horror film aside will be able to truly appreciate this film for the truly original work of art that it really is.
It seems that a lot of reviewers are critical of this movie, but I rather liked it. I would say it's fairly original, though perhaps most of it's various components have been done in prior movies. What do you expect from the horror genre, new and completely original ideas for the dozens of movies appearing every year? I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea about thinking this movie is a rehash of a prior movie plot, because I don't believe it is. I didn't really know where the story was headed and it kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. I thought the <more>
acting, direction and overall production were excellent. I would recommend this film to just about any horror fan and I think everyone will find something to enjoy. The only criticisms that I can make has been mentioned by a couple of others already, which is the editing and screenplay. The story doesn't fit together very well, until the very end and then you can understand what they were trying to create. The real problem here is that there seems to be parts missing from the story, which you can fill in fairly well for yourself, but the film never really attempts to detail these out for you. It's hard to really describe without giving spoilers, but it's like the film Saw in it's intricacy at times, but with a multimillion dollar price tag to all the gadgets. I suppose a deranged killer can have a lot of disposable income, but you just don't imagine him spending it all on an apparent one time event.Again, it's easy to pick apart the missing pieces of this film, but while I was watching it I felt it was nicely done and well worth my time.
Amusement is the movie that leaves you desperate for more. It's fascinating story and unpredictability is what keeps the viewer hooked. What made the film so unpredictable was when you expected something to jump out of nowhere Nothing. When the clown disappears in the hallway. You expect him to get her from behind, he doesn't. In the torture chamber you think the killer dissected Shelby and Lisa, it turns out to be paper, no one saw that coming. The only negatives I have about the film is the character's lack of common sense, For example. When the killer's chasing Lisa and <more>
Shelby up the ladder, they leave they door open. At the top of the house when the killers coming up the elevator. She could of cut the rope and the killer would of fell to his death. In the torture chamber when the girl slashes at the killer's neck, she saw that he wasn't dead so she should have attacked him more, in fact kill him. The other negative is the length of the film.I rate the film 8 out of 10. the missing 2 stars are for the length and characters lack of common sense. I would highly recommend this to slasher fans.
Great horror movie after a long time!! (by dean_hashim)
My girlfriend and I have just watched this gem of a movie. The acting was pretty good and the clown was really creepy as many other reviews have stated. There were some parts that were a little predictable but this definitely does not outweigh the overall quality of the movie. I do not understand why this film had so many bad reviews. There were times that made my girlfriend and I jump out of our skin! Overall we enjoyed this film thoroughly and both of us thought a 5/10 was not a fair rating. After a very long time we have seen such a creepy film. If you enjoy horror films you should like <more>
this one... I sometimes thought it was a little like a "tame" Saw movie. Of course only with a few similarities but it still reminded me of it somewhat. Enjoy!!
