'suspects' which is a good thing. No unnecessary action / violence which I also liked. The twists two, three minor ones were good and I must say that nothing was predictable for me - which is great.Maybe a good soundtrack to the film would add to it to be even better.Minor minus is that we don't know what happened to all the other 'suspects' that he first joined and later with that camp leader. The film does have an end, but I felt that those people were somehow forgotten in the end and they were a big part of the film.All in all, nine from me.

It's a solid movie even it could be a low-budget movie.

Dallas Wolf, played by Tracy Letts August: Osage County , a popular, hate-spouting radio talk show personality and author of Genocide: The Murder of White America.Imperium wrings most of its suspense from its central character's efforts to convince the bad guys that he's indeed one of them. While the boyish Nate would seem an unlikely choice for such a dangerous assignment, the actor's lack of imposing physicality only increases the tension, with his character continually forced to rely on his wits and resourcefulness to evade detection. In one scene, Nate tries to prevent his fellow skinheads from physically harming a mixed-race couple. In another, he yells racial epithets to a black friend who spots him marching in a neo-Nazi parade. In this and other instances, Radcliffe conveys a fearful desperation that makes you fear for his character's safety.Now this movie came out around the same time as another neo-Nazi thriller called Green Room. I love the film Green Room, however, I think I enjoyed this film just a tad more. The real standout in this film is Radcliffe. At first, he is a nerdy FBI agent, and then he transforms himself into a hateful, mean, and well-acted person. This is truly one of his best performances. Nate shaves his head and dives into white nationalist literature, learning all of the passwords and half-secret codes he needs to pass for a fellow traveler, and inventing attributes a fake military past, a knowledge of chemistry that would make him a particularly attractive recruit.Once introduced into the scene, Nate encounters a range of distinct, tenuously collaborative groups. There are the skinheads, Aryan Brotherhood, led by an imposing, militaristic taskmaster, played by Chris Sullivan; the dorky Klansmen; and most arrestingly, a polite, clean-living, wealthy family man named Gerry , played by Sam Trammell whose extremist heart is concealed behind a seemingly reasonable, empathetic exterior. As knowledgeably sketched as these different groups are, director Ragussis leans a bit heavily on their own iconography in some early scenes, orchestrating montages of reactionary kitsch and propaganda that stall the film without revealing much about the characters.The director really does an amazing job with character development in this movie. I thought it was a good idea from the director to show more of the people in these hateful organizations instead of the actual organizations. I do believe the ending could have been written a little better. The movie was so good and original, but the ending was very generic. So these are my final B*tchin' Buddha thoughts on Imperium. A good crime, drama, and thriller for you to watch. I did not get bored once, and my eyes could not get off the screen. The acting is top notch from everyone, especially Radcliffe. It is an interesting story, well acted, and overall entertaining. time.It is a very standard film in terms of plot, this is not a film to watch and expect twists and turns. But it tells a very compelling story through character. Each white power figure we see has their own ideas, goals and as the story progresses it shows us not only about white power, but racism and any type of extremism as well. Sam Trammell, Chris Sullivan and Tracy Letts are all brilliant in pulling us into their lives and succeeding in avoiding the obvious stereotypes that all too easily could happen. The scenes of Edward Norton trashing convenience stores and killing from American History X are left out, these are men with families, family/financial problems, hopes, dreams and its fascinating to see how their sometimes noble goals are corrupted into extreme racism.The weak point is the ending, and everything has to be knotted up in a 2 hour film. This has the feel of the first 2 episodes of an HBO mini-series. I was left only somewhat satisfied, and genuinely curious about what would happen to each character next – and I guess that is good film making.Eye opening and well directed. If you are looking for a drama with almost no action, that mostly avoids cliché pitfalls other than the obvious but well enough done ending then this is your flick!

seems rushed because it's a short movie and there are no time line markers to help express the time going by. Just remember, this story is in a longer period of time. Events happen that aren't on screen. He doesn't gain the trust of the group after three sit downs. There's a line in the movie "After all that I've gone through" while Daniel is talking to Toni's character, which helps entail there is time passing that we aren't fully aware of. It's low budgeted, yes, but it was done well for his first. I'm sure as time goes on, we will see more and better movies from the director. Best hopes and wishes. I always love watching directors make their first and then come off the game strong. Good job, excellent even. I'll be looking out for your next feature.

yeah, I'd recommend a second watch as long as your personal tastes don't detest the film as a whole .Daniel Radcliffe plays Nate Foster, an FBI agent tasked with infiltrating a white-supremacist group suspected of plotting a domestic terrorist attack. Right off the bat I am personally a fan of Radcliffe and while I'll acknowledge he wouldn't be the first I would cast in the role, I enjoyed his performance. As for whether the character he plays would have held his own in a real-life infiltration scenario...well, that's not so convincing. I think the criticism of the character being too likable as well as the ease at which he is brought into the fold is well founded. I'd attribute this more to the writing than Radcliffe's performance although I do have a bias there.In terms of general storyline and plot it's fairly formulaic so don't be expecting many twists and turns. The suspense is there but it's also relatively tame considering the situation Nate is put in. Supporting cast performances were all good, despite their characters being somewhat generic, although I did particularly like Sam Trammel's character and the conflicting opinions he engenders every time he has a scene with Radcliffe; He's a loving dad who likes listening to classical music right up until the point where he slaps you in the face with a swastika.If you didn't take my advice and kept your race-tinted glasses on throughout the entire film, let me explain why I feel you missed out. At the end of the film we see the potential Hitler youth character reformed in his way. The way I see it, this kid isn't reformed of his whiteness - he's reformed of his supremacy. This film is about the dangers of extremism and fundamentalism, period. If you think this film is just more anti-white propaganda, try not to deny reality and claim these fundamentalist groups don't exist. Similarly, If you adore this film for the way it "exposes" white hatred domestic terrorism - I'd implore you to consider one of the closing quoteables in this film and one that in my view really makes this film particularly relevant - "There is really only one essential ingredient to fascism: It's victimhood." Remember it next time you watch the news because those of us with our heads screwed on straight know for whom the victim complexes are the greatest. Perhaps some food for thought.
