Wow. Gadgets corporations fighting to get ahead. Beautifully filmed. Totally unpredictable. And Harrison Ford is amazing! (by alex-cardo)
This one made my day, week and is one of the best movies I've watched in years! Recently I got so tired of all the same, predictable, stupid, unrealistic movies, and the Paranoia was like a gasp of fresh air. A Brilliant movie! 1 I love stories about CEOs, white collars and companies fighting to get ahead of each other, and this is one of the best 2 what is more, this one is about hi-tech corporations working on gadgets like smartphones and all that stuff, which is quite exciting by itself. But what really impresses is that the authors of this movie do not just imitate knowledge of the <more>
topic, but really know and love this world of hi tech 3 I love unpredictable, mysterious movies which don't let you know what's going to happen next, and with the Paranoia I couldn't guess a thing. Damn, I cant recall ANY movie in years that could surprise me that much 4 the "Paranoia" title is the only fault of the movie. It totally misleading and doesn't represent the movie at all. Don't make conclusions basing on the name, judge by the movie itself! 5 man, Harrison Ford is amazing, and I can't imagine who could play a CEO of a hi-tech corporation any better 6 the filming, photography is also extremely high-quality. You can feel the authors' attention to details and to every frame of the movie. Thanks to the authors!
Saw this movie on Netflix. Found it engaging and entertaining. Came to IMDb and was stunned to see the dismal rating everyone was giving it. Did they watch the same movie I did? If everyone is giving this movie only five stars, what movie would you give 10? If everyone is giving this movie only five stars, what movie would you give 10? Granted, some of it was predictable, but so what? It was fun. I thought the acting was convincing. For every good movie, there seems to be 10 bad ones. IMO, this is one of the good ones. Nice thriller, captivating and great casting (by annbss)
Paranoia is a nice movie to watch. I really enjoyed from start to finish. Liam Hemsworth and Amber Heard did great playing the roles. Professional, well directed and awesome songs/soundtrack. Worth a try to watch.
A Serviceable And Entertaining Techno Thriller (by Desertman84)
Paranoia is a techno thriller based on the novel of the same title by Joseph Finder. It stars Liam Hemsworth and Amber Heard together with Gary Oldman and Harrison Ford. The screenplay was written by Barry L. Levy and Jason Dean Hall.Robert Luketic directs the film.Adam Cassidy and a group of young pals are disappointed when their presentation pitch fails to impress their ruthless boss Nic Wyatt. After they are fired, Adam decides to have one last fling at Wyatt's expense and takes his friends on a binge using his corporate credit card. Wyatt demands payback but he suggests that Adam can <more>
make amends by going to work for a fellow tycoon and stealing his secrets for his benefit.Adam reluctantly agrees to the plan and joins the inner circle of Eikon Corp., run by Wyatt's former partner Jock Goddard.Soon, Adam finds himself caught in the middle of a lifelong feud between the two tycoons, and he begins to feel his life is in danger. Things get even more complicated when the FBI comes calling and tries to enlist his help with its investigation of the shady business practices of both Wyatt and Goddard. The film has an interesting storyline but is weak on the technical premises. It is far from being stylish and thrilling but there is not much to offer in this formulaic script. While Gary Oldman and Harrison Ford are good as usual, Liam Hemsworth is pretty much decent in it although we are far from being absorbed with his character nor do we feel sympathetic for him despite being used as a pawn by both tycoons. The twists and turns that take place in Paranoia are usually predictable but it might seem good for those who are not used to these types of movies. The state-of-the-art technology used in it could be bothersome as it overshadows the story of the film. But inspite of its flaws, the film manages to be serviceable and entertaining.
The Ultimate Movie Review! - http://tss5078.blogspot.com - @tss5078 (by Tss5078)
After making a name for himself in the Hunger Games, teen heartthrob, Liam Hemsworth got his first leading role in the corporate thriller, Paranoia. This film has a somewhat complicated plot to explain without spoilers, but I will attempt to do so. Adam Cassidy Liam Hemsworth is a low level employee at one of the worlds largest tech company. His boss has learned that their main competition, his former employer, is about to unveil a revolutionary piece of new technology, that can change everything. Fearing for his companies future, Nicholas Wyatt Gary Oldman decides to give Cassidy the <more>
opportunity of a lifetime, that is if he's willing to break a few dozen laws or so. Liam Hemsworth was terrific, giving a performance similar to the one Bradly Cooper gives in Limitless, as a guy with an important job that's in way over his head. Hollywood finds these good looking guys and the truth is that a lot of them have nothing to offer, but Hemsworth proves that he has the talent it takes to star on the big screen. In the film he's supported by a real all-star cast, that includes Harrison Ford, Richard Dryfuss, and Gary Oldman, all of whom do what they've been doing for half a century, making great films even better. The only reason this film isn't getting 5 stars, is the same reason it didn't do as well as it should have in the box office. Paranoia is about corporate espionage and at times, the business aspect is confusing and makes us feel as overwhelmed as Hemsworth's character does. Other than that, I can't find a thing wrong with this film, it is absolutely one of the best edge of your seat thrillers I've seen all year and easily earns the right to be called one of our must see movies!
Great cast, intriguing plot. Not fly-out-of-your-seat-terrifying, but still suspenseful. (by nanvan108)
We care about Adam. He's a nice, smart, occasionally reckless guy. And he worries about his dad. He's also from the poor end of town, and as such, is dissed by an ambitious, somewhat self-absorbed Ivy League beauty. Right there, we're invested as an audience in the high stakes challenges that await Adam. More than the script calls for? Maybe, but that doesn't mean this isn't an entertaining film. It IS entertaining. Also, criticism that the plot lacks sufficient tension may be partly due to its lack of gore. There is danger, there is tension. There's not as much <more>
bloodshed as we've come to expect from thrillers. This is more Grisham than grisly, and some viewers, sadly, aren't down with that. I think that's a shame, mainly for those viewers.Every morsel of Ford and Oldman's screen time is tasty, not surprisingly. And the story's inevitable romance is nice for those of us who appreciate that sort of thing.I thought about the longstanding rivalry between Bill Gates and Steve Jobs during this film, and it made we wonder what may have happened behind closed doors at Microsoft and Apple that we haven't yet learned about. Probably nothing as diabolical as what these two rivals seem capable of, but it's an intriguing thought. The visuals are nice throughout and okay, that includes Hemsworth! , and the soundtrack is spot-on. I liked it.
Entertaining, not as bad as many people claim (by Andy-296)
This corporate techno thriller is entertaining, nothing spectacular, of course, but nowhere near as bad as many people claim. Gary Oldman and Harrison Ford are the ruthless CEOs of rival cell phones companies. Liam Hemsworth is a young hotshot that works for Oldman's company, but he is fired after a lousy presentation. After spending thousands of dollars of the company's credit card in a nightclub, he is blackmailed by Oldman into getting hired into Ford's company in order to steal the blueprints for their new cell phone. Many more things will happen, including Hemsworth romantic <more>
involvement with one of Ford's company marketing head played by the beautiful Amber Heard . It's good trash, not very believable, but a good time filler, an ideal date movie. There are far worse ways to waste your time.
Recommend this movie...awesome cast great acting and a great storyline... did not see any trailers just watched of the bat... and the tech no stuff they speak of is seriously scary as where we could be heading in the future. Actually does not deserve the 4.5 stars it was rated as I first checked on IMDb and it surprised me much so that I decided to write this..."Watch it! It is a great way to spend 1h40m of your life : !Thanks Paranoia Cast and Crew.I particularly like the part where the FBI agent was introduce as this added to the suspense of the movie. Even the balance of characters... <more>
cool and geeky paid off for this movie, the twist in the different homes of the two camps led me down a path of thinking that HF was actually a good guy and GO was bad... and there was the twist why I added an extra star because of the set :
