I absolutely loved this movie and saw no problems! (by annalealyon-1)
I don't normally rate movies as a 10 but I loved this one! The whole story was just very amazing and unique. It was thrilling, and confusing, it was the kind of moving that kept you trying to guess the end throughout the whole movie. My perspective changed throughout. This movie keeps you on the edge. It's a little slow at first, but when it gets going, it doesn't stop. This movie is another one of those exciting movies but there's something different about it. Not only does it have a thrilling plot, but it is also very moving. I mean, how someone can create a scary movie and <more>
also make it a love story is beyond me, but I thank them for that. This is a movie that in my opinion is worth seeing.
Premonition is one of those movies that make your heart and mind wonder if you have lived life as we were meant to live it. Not in a daze but truly awake to each others needs and personalities. This is by far the best show I have ever seen yes Jim dies in the end. But the connection between husband and wife that are truly in love is shown in the most amazing way. Through premonition flashbacks and the will to live a better life as the film unfolds out of sequence pay close attention to her writing on the paper the days of the week and sequence of events. This helped me keep track of what was <more>
happening. And how she had to decipher the premonition. Remember all premonitions do not give specific details or come in sequence ever! I must say that Julian McMahon played his part wonderfully low keyed to help Sandra Bullock shine in her part. He is a true master of the theater. I don't think another actor could have pulled it off as gracefully and with such subtlety as he did. This movie is a must see for those who want to think rather than dream their lives away. It teaches as well as entertains. Sandra Bullock out did herself again and brought a wonderful actor like Julian McMahon into the limelight. I can hardly wait for the DVD to come out. It is going to become a classic. A must see!!
If you're stupid, you won't like this movie. (by fallguy_jack)
There aren't really any plot holes in this movie, which is HUGELY rare, it's just complicated, so if ur an idiot, you won't get it. The acting was great, so those who said it wasn't just were mad cuz they didn't get the intricacies of the movie. I don't usually like movies with no action, but this was well done enuff to win me over. People say they don't like the ending, but the ending is what made the whole movie, it wouldn't have made much sense with a different ending, again, you have to be above a certain intelligence line, however low that line is, to see <more>
it, altho admittedly, to get the end, the line is a little higher, say, a bit above trainable retarded. The most impressive thing about this movie, and what took it from an 8 to a 10 for me is the incredible difficulty in not only making a movie with non-linear time flow and/or time travel which stands to logic and science, but one that's actually plausible, that's right, i said PLAUSIBLE. I totally did not see that coming. Forget the bad reviews, no movie that works outside of linear time/space is ever plausible. That was the clincher on an excellent movie.
Sandra Bullock is unique in her passion in roles that involve a husband and children. She inhabits her character in this film especially well. Bullock not only acts the role of the adoring wife but actually identifies with that role. It must be close to her own heart and life experience. The film is touching in the sense that Bullock as the wife has a premonition so real that she has difficulty sorting out the dreamlike premonition with the reality of her continuing life. Women are famous for their intuition and their premonitions. Perhaps, this is an evolutionary protective device for our <more>
human species, that makes the female more sensitive to certain clues given by the environment. Whatever the case, the premonition in this film is so vivid and overwhelming that schizophrenia is suspected by Bullock and a psychiatrist she visits. But, gradually Bullock gets a grip on reality and defends not only her own sanity but the physical health of her family. She becomes "superwife" and "supermother" as she uncovers an affair that her husband is concealing and yet forgives him and tries to save him from a tragic death.Several scenes are especially compelling. One is a scene in which Bullock hysterically demands that a closed coffin be opened, which contains her husband's broken body. Another scene is when Bullock finds her husband unexpectedly in the shower and holds him like a long lost baby that she desperately wants to protect. Bullock knows how to show affection for the adult male of the species like no other actress alive or dead, in my opinion. God bless you, Sandra Bullock, for being the beautiful woman you are, inside and out.
I CANNOT believe almost no one liked this movie! (by ajaws4ever)
Why does almost everyone hate the movie just because the ending is not what they wanted keyword: 'wanted', not expected ! So what if a gripping psychological thriller much like Premonition has a somewhat happy ending? ***MINOR SPOILER*** Well, yeah, the husband dies at the end, as he does in the beginning, but the good news is, Linda Bullock is pregnant. ***MINOR SPOILER ENDS***.It is almost sickening to find that everyone wants a shocking/disturbing/violent ending to every horror or thriller movie. Why can't it be different for once and just be a happy ending? I mean, you got <more>
your shock at the ending, but then it went on to something happy. At least you got some of a shock! And, there were absolutely no plot holes, except for one: how can someone wake up and all the days are mixed up, and someone being dead one day and alive the next day? But that was the only one that made the movie unrealistic. Otherwise, excellent storyline, almost no plot holes, good acting, awesome movie, and a gripping psychological thriller.Official MPAA rating: PG-13: Some Violent Content, Disturbing Images, Thematic Material, and Brief Language My MPAA rating: PG-13: Some Violent Content, Disturbing and Violent Images, Thematic Material, and Brief Strong Language My Canadian rating: PG: Mature Theme, Frightening Scenes
I think everyone was looking for the happy ending. Almost everyone in the theater, even me let out an expression of one kind or another. Because the ending didn't happen the way we expected, some people seemed to be disappointed. Do you guys not get it. She got a premonition of his death and what happened to her after that. She did change things, her future, it may not be the future you wanted for her. I think we all wanted the romantic ending and didn't get it which was the big let down for some. The ending we got was good for me. I liked it. It is a movie you had to think about. <more>
Very glad to have seen it, will see it again ASAP. (by ladyinterference)
Here's a clue on how to watch this movie: If you're looking to be disappointed based on any inconsistencies, pay closer attention to the movie. The so-called "inconsistencies" are actually based on a series of events that combine to actually change many of the things you end up seeing happening early on in the movie. Remember: The events that you see happening on the screen aren't happening linearly. The calendar hops all over the place throughout the movie, so it is possible for events that transpire one day to effect what ends up happening in future days. There are two <more>
days that are especially noteworthy in terms of what would change the events of the future and they happen toward the end of the movie. Think of how these events will affect the other events that happen in the future and remember that as you see what happens at the end of the movie.I think the reason this movie hasn't been garnering a lot of critical praise is because movie critics don't really want to have to utilize logic while watching a movie. Another poorly reviewed film starring Sandra Bullock, the truly brilliant The Lake House, was an even bigger victim of movie critics' pathetically anemic logic processing skills. In watching both movies, you really have to keep your faculties alert and not lull yourself into a sense of "okay, I can just turn my brain off now." And really, even though this movie isn't as good as The Lake House, it is equally blessed with the beautiful, talented Ms. Bullock, on top of featuring the beautiful, talented Nia Long, the totally likable Julian McMahon, and some very good acting by the child actors. And the film is very beautiful to look at, too; I now understand why Bullock was raving about the cinematography and direction. So please do see this movie and don't be dissuaded by the negative remarks. You really do have to pay attention to this film in order to enjoy it, but once you do pay attention, you will be richly rewarded. I'm glad I went to see it and so should you.
Much better than some reviewers have suggested (by barrycreamer)
I read some negative reviews of this movie before I went to see it. They were completely misguided! The movie is both intelligent and emotionally appealing. The actors are excellent. The literary symbols are consistent and right on the mark for the destination of this very well-made film. It is important to keep in mind that the movie is made on a time-line of contingencies, so that what would otherwise be inconsistent actually can make sense in light of changes introduced by the non-sequential experiences of Sandra Bullock's character. I suppose those looking for some kind of horror <more>
movie or brain-blank thriller both of which can be enjoyable in their own light might not have enjoyed it. But those looking for a narrative worth following, a message with some significance, and a generally well-made movie ought to see it.
Well I walked into "Premonition" today expecting the worst based on the low rating here on IMDb, but throughout the course of the movie I felt my smile growing bigger and bigger. It started off smoothly and nicely, and had some of the best directing I've seen in a while. The suspense was held together well, and all of the acting was great. There were a few good scares even. The moment I saw the title on the poster a few months back, I thought to myself, 'How can this do anything different that the Final Destination series hasn't?' Well I was proved wrong. This movie <more>
was put together amazingly and seemed very original to me.The only flaws I see with this movie is that you seen the end coming from 3/4 through the movie, and I sympathized more at the beginning of the film rather then the end. But all in all, PREMONITION is a must see. 8/10.
