They Still Got Game (by dikelmm-655-877942)
Great movie for anyone who loves basketball and is tired of watching Sarah Sanders every day. Suspend your disbelief and have a good time. I loved Blend Reggie Miller.
Basketball brought alive (by spicyjackroasts)
When I watched this movie back in August, it just made me even more happy and glad I played the game of basketball as well. Also it was cool to have Kyrie Irving, Lisa Leslie, Shaquille O'neal, Chris Webber, Nate Robinson and Reggie Miller as stars of the movie. It was so cool that they would work together taking time away from basketball, retirement, etc to make an all around great movie.
Pretty funny underdog sports film. Great for families! (by rannynm)
Uncle Drew is a very funny, underdog sports film. While I am unfamiliar with all the NBA and WBA stars, I enjoyed the film because I related to the feelings and thoughts of the senior athletes. The use of make-up and prosthetics makes it even funnier. Dax LilRel Howery , a basketball obsessed Foot Locker salesman whose dream to coach a tournament- winning street ball team, is drowned by his longtime rival, Mookie Nick Kroll . Mookie steals his prize player Casper Orlando Magic Forward, Aaron Gordon , his team and his materialistic girlfriend Jess Tiffany Haddish .Dax spends his life <more>
savings on Harlem's Rucker Classic registration entry fee and is desperate to get another team when he learns from Louis Mike Epps and Angelo J.B. Smoove about the legendary street player Uncle Drew. Dax finds 70-something Uncle Drew NBA all Star Kyrie Irving , a street-ball legend who famously played in the same tournament 50 years earlier. Uncle Drew agrees to play for Dax if he can recruit his own roster of players. The adventure begins as the duo road trips to convince Drew's old teammates to join the team. We see Preacher Chris Webber , wheel-chair bound Boots Nate Robinson , Big Fella Shaquille O'Neil and legally blind Lights Reggie Miller . My favorite scene is when Dax, because of a declined credit card at a gas station, makes a $100 bet with a girls' high school coach. His team is defeated and his guys pitch in to cover it and fill the van's tank. Dax learns about their hearts and realizes they are a team. The film contains some suggestive jokes, a few curse words and a brief scene with nudity. Uncle Drew has strong messages about team work, taking risks to reach your goals and playing for the love of the game. I give this film 4.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 11 to 18, as well ad adults. The film opens in theaters nationwide June 29, 2018. Be sure to check your local theater's listings. Truly. It's fun, sentimental, engaging, and entertaining to no end. It surprised me. Who knew Chris Webber could act? We knew he was a good liar, of course, thanks to his federal felony perjury offense, but he was impressive on screen. There's even a little "timeout" humor in there for true basketball fans. Reggie Miller and Shaq also are very good, and Kyrie Irving is ... Uncle Drew. Oh, and Lisa Leslie is pretty good, too. Nice to see some good gender balance in a basketball movie. Nate Robinson doesn't talk much in character, but his facial expressions are brilliant. <more>
The on-the-court scenes are fun, and the "hero" of the story is good enough. Tiffany Haddish, however, is ridiculous, and she cost the movie a star in the overall rating. She ruins every scene she is in. The ending is a wee bit predictable, but in a feel-good movie like this for summer time, that is to be expected. You'll enjoy this movie more than you expect to, especially if you're a basketball fan.
Very funny movie especially for basketball fans (by mac4lyfe)
I took my young son and daughter to this movie and we had a blast. Very funny movie that doesn't take itself serious. You will enjoy the movie even if you are not a basketball fan but there's a lot of subtle inferences you might not get. There's some good old 70's R&B music, slapstick comedy, mixed with basketball. What not to like? We left wanting more as the run time seemed short. The videos during the credits are worth staying. If you're looking for a quick comic relief, this is a good afternoon diversion.
Better than expected (by hubmanad)
If you thought this movie was going to be the award winning film of our generation then you are as dumb as your 1 or 2 star review. Funnier than expected. Even funnier if you follow the nba.
Laugh Out Loud Funny (by mildredwalters)
A senior citizen, I went to this movie with my 29 year-old daughter and 13 year-old granddaughter. We all had our laugh out loud moments during the movie. It's fun and appealing. I can't think of anything not to like. Even the despicable characters were so extreme you had to like them. If you go to the movie for the fun of it-not to critique-you will enjoy.
Who do we need to convince to make Tiffany Haddish go away? (by mike-73962)
She is not funny. I couldn't make it through the movie because of her. Surely there are funnier women out there than her that actually deserve the role
