About time we saw something awesome, real and incredibly delivered (by hitendrajamwal) |
Wouldn't have watched it if not recommended, I wish I had seen this in the cinemas. Just stumbled upon it and the movie sets a notion to prepare it's audience to slowly, gradually and surely lead them into a realist, heart wrenching tale of present day reality in South Africa with such defined details on delivering the story, the character's are more than convincing. The acting and environment just makes me want more of this tale telling... Entertaining, capturing, dragging the viewer into a world so real. Film making at its best glad I watched it as the title, cover and overall <more> |
Excellent thriller with very true characters (by pi-32) |
Excellent movie that mixes today's modern South Africa with the story of repression over black people through the apartheid and the way it has left scars in the collective memory.Orlando Bloom plays a excellent role that reminds his family's past and the loneliness of a kid involved in the struggle of liberty. Forest Whitaker plays all his talent as a cop carrying all the sadness of the apartheid, packed of emotion with the exact restraint that brings his character to perfection. This movie is one of the best I have seen in a while, photo, sound, details, all is perfectly balanced <more> |
Excellent (by philipjcowan-119-646602) |
Zulu is a fantastic, if brutal, thriller. It would not want you to hop off to South Africa in a hurry, but as an expression of underlying tensions with post-apartheid 'truth and reconciliation' it could not be better. On one level, this is a straightforward tense thriller and you can come away with just that. However, the film is deeply imbued with politics and angst about how many evil men got away with suppression, murder and lies.I loved it. Perhaps some people do not like an ounce of intelligence with their thrillers. Don't let their reviews put you off. If you like a good cop <more> |
one of the best drama of 2013 (by bektaskonca) |
i don't know what film the idiots who review this movie here watched, i can say in all honesty this is one of the best Drama of 2013 and very good production money well spend. i will give 10 stars if not for over acting in some scenes but this is due to script flaws i think. director is not known to me but he can be proud of the job he has done, style of camera use in action scenes reminded me POINT BREAK but way better, gun fights felt of those in western movies and was very tense. character development was the best thing about this movie you felt for every one most of all Orlando Bloom <more> |
Worth the watch I was glued to the screen (by soldiertoddopos24536) |
The name of this movie sounded like 100 other movies and the cover looked quite ordinary, the movie was another story altogether amazing. I have seen quite a few movies with Orlando Bloom and Forest Whitaker, but this movie in particular their talent in the lens and superior acting skills really blossomed. Zulu was very well directed somehow the director kept the story full of action yet dramatic in a real down to earth way. Like this was a true story. Forest Whitaker and Orlando Bloom made quite an impression on me being they have been in a lot of big hits I thought they might remind me of <more> |
intelligent action movie that keeps you guessing (by paulwaidelich) |
The story is set in Post-Mandela South Africa, with blacks and whites working side by side as both criminals and cops. The central mystery is the solution of a mysterious drug that hits the shack lined streets of the poor black neighborhoods who have seen little change in their poverty with the onset of the "rainbow nation", plus the mysterious disappearance of young black pre-teen boys. There is only violence as a solution; between criminals, between conflicting police officers and a vicious and extremely equal battle between good and evil.Orlando Bloom does "edgie" as <more> |
That was a great film Just watched it credits still rolling..... (by mikevonbach) |
I really like movies that take place outside of the u.s. I have been lucky enough to have seen all of our fifty states And it pleases me not to be forced to see subway McDonald and shopping malls in every film.Bloom and Whitaker both did a Believable performance. Some of the gun fight scenes could have been better I could see that this film had some cash flow limitations. But i loved the shock and aw so to rap this up i will just say that i truly would recommend this film to people that want to escape and see how people live with technology and no real rules to govern it.And when i feel like it <more> |
Outside the Hollywood comfort zone (by pontus-randen) |
Wow! Hollywood is expanding and seeking out new environments. This time Orlando Bloom and Forest Whittaker are sent to South Africa - into a dark the sinister Apartheid leftovers.Great acting by both of them. Great photo and great plot. Violent, although probably not violent enough to do the setting justice, and grim. Tough lives and tough country. No country for weak men. Please make more of this kind. Please allow the actors from the Lord of The Ring, and such, to really show what they are capable of - instead of hiding behind special effects.See it! . |
Really cool (by LiamBlackburn) |
I wasn't expecting that much from this movie when I first clicked it, but the black guy I love his acting he's got that lazy eye lulz. Any way, the movie starts off innocuously but then all of a sudden one of the cops gets his arm chopped off with a machete. Then he gets hacked in the throat to top it off and dies. Once this took place I was shocked and basically continued in a state of shock and awe until the end of the movie. The ending scenes are awesome, with his walking in the desert and chasing the guy, epically shot and really good ending music.Even though the unraveling plot <more> |
