great story from Hall of Mirrors (by ladycatherine20012000) |
I love the story, although I've already heard and read it over two years ago. It's creep and all together great tale to share for the Halloween season. It is as good as the story Trolls by Mike Bennet. Look up Hall of Mirrors to check it out. The story is creepy and almost identical to this movie. In fact, it is the story Mike Bennet wrote, but with a very slight difference: two characters, but otherwise, it's the same. Great horror is so hard to find. Happy to see that someone may actually care enough about the story line instead of the action. All I know is I can't wait to <more> |
Great creeping horror! (by robhartjr) |
I fell under a horror movie high one day and decided to search for the best horror films of 2012. I clicked on various different lists and this movie was featured on nearly all of them. I looked at its IMDb rating and was disappointed with its low rating so I didn't really feel motivated to see it. But I was at Wal Mart and saw this movie there on sale and I just impulsively purchased it hoping the low rating on here was wrong. I am very glad I decided to buy this movie.A young man is left widowed and damaged with agoraphobia after his pregnant wife is randomly attacked by a group of <more> |
Brilliant Psychological Thriller (by hbeacham) |
Citadel is one of the most underrated films of the year. Atmospherically it has everything a horror movie should! Ciaran Foy brilliantly moves and pans the camera in-sighting a feeling of paranoia, which in a film detailing an agoraphobic is simply inspired. When Tommy Cowley's life is turned upside down by a random attack on him and his pregnant wife he not only is left to raise his infant daughter alone, he is also debilitated by extreme agoraphobia. Tommy spends his time hiding out in his apartment and attending intense therapy sessions. When the same gang that attacked him before <more> |
Original Irish Horror with a truly contemporary twist... (by Zachar_Laskewicz) |
Although this film was made thanks to sponsorship from the Irish film board, it is far from a piece of Catholic dogma. The character who plays the priest renounces religion entirely and the film's horror is an original and recent addition to the genre. It's full of good ideas and can be related to relatively recent phenomena; the urban sprawl and the creation of enormous flatblocks outside city centres, prevalent across the United Kingdom. Most frighteningly perhaps it represents the disaffected youth who hide themselves from the enormous collection of security cameras which dictate <more> |
Absolutely Brilliant (by emmagardner14) |
Great film. Extremely scary and chilling, not like most horror films nowadays, where the scares are predictable and you can pretty much guess what will happen. Watched it with a friend and first thing that actually scared us properly, and left us not being able to sleep for about 4 nights! Brilliant acting from Aneurin Barnard, i've only seen him in a few other things but he's a very good actor, good in many roles, and i hope to see him in other stuff. Although the cast was less well known, there was very good acting from all the others. Definitely give this a go, if you like a good <more> |
Great movie (by atinder) |
This was a really good movie , actually it was a great movie. This movie did not take long to get going and what a way to start a movie. With the pregnant lady , It was nasty not gory, it was nasty as it is a really nasty thing to do.I really like the rest of the movie, as we get to see the father is scared of going out side his house, which gives their movie more of a intense feel to it.You may be thinking this sounds like a another movie called Them. however this movie is far from it, as it is a bit of a plot later in the movie.I don't know if I miss it, I don't think they explained <more> |
My Review Of "Citadel" (by ASouthernHorrorFan) |
"Citadel" is a Irish film directed by Cairan Foy that follows a young father through is journey into darkness as he battles despair and tragedy. After the senseless death of the mother of his child which forces the baby into the world prematurely the father soon faces a nightmare even greater in his quest to provide a life for his child. He struggles with agoraphobia and social anxiety which he soon confronts as he comes face to face with the dangerous youths that terrorize the neighborhood. The film stars Aneurin Barnard, Wunmi Mosaku, Amy Shields, James Cosmo and Jake Wilson. It <more> |
Great budget horror (by jonnytheshirt) |
From the Irish and Scottish film boards a nice gritty horror that plays out like a great short story. Quite creepy with solid main performances from Cosmo Braveheart and Game of Thrones a world class actor and newcomer Barnard. This reminds me of another similarly gritty Celtic collaboration. A great Urban horror set in dangerous Scottish estates abandoned it seems by police and society where fear breeds. The agoraphobia of the main character is done well I thought and that different angle and its subsequent analogy of escaping from the hopeless forgotten edges of society added another <more> |
Fun, frantic and not too bad for the frights (by nthrooch) |
Just got back from seeing this at the Stockholm film festival, and you can imagine my surprise as an overseas Scot to come across this fun horror of psychotic chavs or "neds" as we call them in Glasgow!I can say without hesitation there are no acting awards to be had here, but so rarely do horror films deliver such. This is basically exactly what you would expect. It is dark, frantic, peppered with moments that made my partner jump or squirm in her seat, and kept pace throughout.A rough synopsis, Tommy, a man living in a run down, high rise block in Glasgow watches his pregnant <more> |
